This day was prettier than most. Almost pretty enough to let the little orange cub forget her fears entirely and simply enjoy herself. Climbing over a rather over sized tree root, she splashed down into a surprise stream bed, giggling as the water got everywhere. The patches of crystal blue above broke in yellow streams of light let through the otherwise thick canopy and showered golden on the forest floor above her. Bumburuka grinned a little and bounced up a gentle hill in the floor to play by a fallen tree that had made the hole. Already tiny wisps of want-to-be giants were taking up root in the wake of the mighty one, but they were not enough to bother the cub playing in the moss and other lichens that basked in their moment of glory.

Her feet thumped on the log, drilling a tune that she hummed along to and stirring the bugs inside. Oddly enough, bugs didn't bother Ruka as much as the birds or other mammals did. Rather, she enjoyed their company and grinned at them when they came out to play. These were so small that she couldn't see them being any true harm to her--no matter how false that statement was in reality. But no bug had ever had cause to sting or bite the cub, save fleas her mother staved off by having them rub against certain plants, but fleas bit anything they could dig their teeth into.

A butterfly came, as brilliantly blue as any of her sisters, and she giggled at it. "you look like Kama," She decided, for the markings on her elder sister's face, as the bug landed on her nose. There it stayed for a moment, before fluttering it off.

Unlike her sister, Ash was less enthusiastic about running out to play, but again, even less so after such to let her orange sister go running off to play without her!

"WAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTT!" she yelled, scrambling after Bumbu with no grace whatsoever, managing quite well to trip over the root the other had climbed over with less-effort than their mother-clone had to use, before stumbling, face-first, into the water. In fact, she didn't seem to register she needed to move before she drowned for a moment.

However, when the concept that water = DROWNING hit her head, she suddenly sat up, blowing the liquid out of her nose with a squinched up face, before she continued her chase.

Unlike Ruka, however, Ash was TERRIFIED of bugs, causing her to stand on the log the other had taken perch on to scare them all out in HORROR as the 'demons of her nightmares' started to crawl out of practically EVERYWHERE, turning and looking around her everywhere, before screeching; "THEYSH GONNA EATSH MEEEEE!!" with a horrible lisp.

Tahari's ears laid flat against her skull, a bit embarassed by the antics of her sister. What was she up to, and why did she make such a scene? The little cub couldn't help but laugh, though, as she finally caught up to the sister she was following, just to see another one of her sisters. "Ruka~!" she called out, content to see that Ash had been following Ruka. Though the blue cub thought she was smart, she really hadn't had the time to learn anything, and was blindlessly following her sisters out of curiosity.

Their mother had stayed behind with their aunt, though Tahari was certain that they were watching them somehow. How did Mother always seem to know everything? And if it wasn't her, it was certainly Aunt Barafu.

She fround as that thought crossed her face, clueless that she looked quite silly, from laughing one moment to scowling at the ground.

As Ashling called out to her, Ruka turned away from the startled butterfly to wait and watch for her younger sister. She winced a little as Ashling ate mud, as it were, but waited patiently still as she knew the girl wouldn't appreciate help. A few bugs crawled over her paws, curious as to the furry thing that was blocking their usual paths. The orange cub thought she saw something coming up behind Ashling, but she wasn't entirely certain as to what. Either way, Ashling's further reaction to the bug was enough to make her giggle. One paw came up to over her maw as she did and a lady bug was on it.

Ruka held the harmless little bug out to her sister, "But Ash, they're pretty! See! She just wants to be friends..."

Her name caught her ears and Ruka looked up. So Tahari was here too! Her tail lashed happily that her sisters had come to join her. The expression flashing across Tahari's face were silly, and she did laugh a little, but it wasn't necessarily at the other girl. "Come up here with us, Tari!"

"Nuh-uh! Theysh creepy and crawly and theys been trying to eatsh my BRAINSH!" Ashling announced, again squeaking as one of the arthropods grew to be too close for comfort, before looking towards the source of Ruka's name, her eyes wide and ears alert.

For all of two seconds, she'd been expecting it to be their mother demanding they return back home (since sneaking away from her seemed to be impossible at times..)

"Taaahhhhhaaaarrrriiiiii!" Ash practically whistled her sister's name through her teeth (though she was, ironically, missing the front top two for some reason..), grinning to show off the gap in her teeth, as well as the pride that another wonderful playmate had come to make a point onto the scene, before she shrieked again, almost leaping onto Ruka when one of the bugs she was trying so hard to avoid crawled over one of her beautiful little white paws.

"EEEK!"

Ash sniffled and attempted to catch her breath after a moment, before adding onto Ruka's invitation; "Yesh! You can come shave me from the bugsh!"

"Buuugs?" Tahari asked, curious as to what the ruckus was about. Trotting over to her muddy white sister, she cam across what she thought was bothering her. Lots of bugs! Tahari winced a bit, hoping that they wouldn't crawl up her limbs. She could tolerate paws, but that was it.

They were kind of gross when mixed in with the mud, though. "Ewwww," was all that Tahari said at first, before turning to her lovely sibilings. "What're you guys doing playing with the bugs, anyway?" She swished her tail on the surface of the watery mud, bits of her tail getting wet. Her emerald green eyes peered at her sisters, trying to mimic their mother. She didn't do too well, but it was obvious enough that she was trying to mimic her.

She took a step forward, but her paw slipped, stretching out one of her legs. The blue cub gave out a squeak, tumbling over and rolling enough to bump into Ash. Whoops. Mother wouldn't like how dirty the two girls would be once they came back. Maybe they wouldn't be so mad if Ruka stayed clean, though.

Ruka tried not to giggle at the mess her sisters had made. She bounced a little further up onto her log to keep from getting too muddy. The bugs hummed a little at her, but she didn't mind, and let a beetle crawl up her foreleg. "we're watching them--they're fun!" She told Tahari as the two other girls lolled in the mud. That really wasn't going to be good when their mother found out, and she frowned a little. While their mother was loving, she and Aunt Barafu were rather strict about a lot of things--especially about the girls keeping clean and within sight. Already there were breaking two rules.

That really wasn't good, Ruka decided, so she plucked the bug off her shoulder and put him back down on the ground. "Go back into the log, Mr. Beetle," She said to him, "I'll play with you later."

Jumping off the log and into the mud, Ruka padded over to her dripping sisters. "... that's a lot of mud." The orange cub leaned in to lick Tahari's cheek as their mother would have to clean them. She pulled back almost immediately, though, with a disgusted expression on her face and tongue lolling as if to get the dirt off of itself. "EWWWwwwwww!!"

Ruka took a few licks at her own fur to get the dirt off completely, nose wrinkled the entire time. "That tastes nasty!"

Ash giggled, lolling about in the mud she'd been pushed into, with a certain degree of glee (which would leave when and if she learned that mud was worm-food and home, as well as other insects...), smearing her muddy paws all over her blue sibling, before looking up at Ruka when she pointed out the most obvious observation she could have possibly made.

She whistled by blowing through the space where she should have had her teeth, before stating; "Yeesh. And here I wash Shiinking you already knewsh that." Ash pointed out, continuing to paw at Tahari while laying on her side, covered, happily, in filth.

There was this sort of blank but rather knowing expression on Ash's face as she watched Ruka make a fool out of herself with, again, what she already knew herself.

"Sheeeeeesh. I coulda told you that." she pointed out, getting up and shaking, causing some bits of mud to go flinging off of her fuf, than using her paws to smear off the rest of the big chunks, before she climbed up onto the log to start cleaning herself, attempting to not make a similar face to her orange sister while doing so.

Mud -did- taste nasty!

Tahari giggled at her sisters, blind to the amount of mud that the three of them were covered in. She didn't want to bother with cleaning it off, but she did mimic her sister in trying to pull most of the big chunks off. It sure was heavy, anyway!

"Mama can clean us later," she said, still picking at her fur. "Or just wait for it to dry, it'll fall off!" She didn't mention that their coats would still be really dirty, but as far as Tahari could really see, it was jsut as clean as anything!

"Plus then you won't have the chance of finding a bug in your fuuuur~" she said teasingly towards Ash, though she didn't know if she would react to it or not. Regardless, the blue cub began to laugh again at the thought of her red-faced sister freaking out over that. Ruka would probably worry about what bug was stuck, with Tahari just laughing. Fun!

She doubted that a bug would be found, though, since Ash already took off most of the mud. With a big 'thlunk', the last big bit of mud slipped off of Tahari and she nosed Ruka happily before pulling herself up next to Ash, keeping herself far enough away to not bother her as she groomed herself. Tahari could be a bit bratty at times, but she wasn't aaaalways.

"A bug?!" That got the desired reaction all right! Ruka pulled herself up beside them, still the cleanest of the three by far, and began to paw all over her normally white furred sister. "Heeeereee buggy buggy buggy," She sing-songed, oblivious to the fact that her questing paws were likely tickling her sister. Her tail lashed behind her a little, back paws braced against the log so that she wouldn't fall--of course, she easily could have been pushed.

Helpfully, as she searched, the bugs on the log began to crawl towards them again, curious about the beings of mud and fur playing on top of their home.

Ash paused, mid-lick- at the mental image put into her mind, slowly lowering her paw and staring at it skeptically, before suddenly letting out a SHRIEK of horror then Ruka started to attack her back, nearly FLINGING herself off the log to get away from both of them, rolling around screaming, "GETITOFFGETITOFF!" at the top of her lungs.

After a moment, she simply stopped moving, however, her entire body going stiff like she'd just had a heart-attack, her eyes wide and just staring up at the sky above them.

When Ash said she was afraid of bugs, she didn't mean like 'Eek! *squish*', afraid, she meant DEATHLY afraid. To the point she'd play dead.... or maybe actually have a heart attack because of them.

To say the least, that prank hadn't exactly gone over as well as it -COULD- have without Ash suddenly dying on her sisters.

Tahari couldn't help but laugh at the charade that was unfolding in front of her. Perfect! She rolled over onto her back, laughing at the sky. Her lungs gasped for air as she slowly began to reach back into reality. When she did pop up, she saw both of her sisters not looking too well.

She picked her way through the mud towards Ash, poking at her shoulder as she got closer. "Ash?" she questioned quietly, before peeking over at Ruka. Uh oh....they were in trouble, weren't they?

"Ash....?" she poked again, nervously stepping over towards Ruka. "What....what's wrong with her?"

Ruka wasn't one to be deterred on her quest for bug life! She jumped down after her sister, splashing through the mud hole to jump on her sister again--finally dirtying up her own fur--just as Ashling went stiff. Slowly Ruka's giggles began to die as Tahari came closer to them. She exchanged a look with her blue sister, then looked back towards Ashling. "Ashy...?"

Ruka frowned a little, poking her stiff sister with a muddy paw. "Asshhhhyyy," The whine was kind of annoying, but it didn't mask the worry in her voice. A though occurred to her as a friendly buzz reached her ear. The girl jumped up and ran back to the log. "Come help us Mr. Beetle!" She picked the bug up carefully in her teeth and ran back over to deposit the offering on Ashling's nose.

If it was possible for her to be anymore dead, she would have been, had that ...-thing-.... not been looming... on her nose. Tickling it, while freaking her to HELL out. "Oh god...." she whimpered, sneezing, though it remained latched to her nose through it, before the white female lept to her feet, smearing her snout across Tahari's side to remove the insect, then went seeking the best place to hide from both girls possible.

"That wash MEAN!" she decreed, whistling sadly, before attempting to burrow under the roots of a tree, her white rump sticking out and unprotected from this 'hiding place', while her front side remained in the dark.

Dark...

and something was.... CRAWLING on her.

She'd lept from one problem into another, screeching again as she backed out of her hiding place and away from the creepy crawlies, spiining in a circle of panic before collapsing again.

...

.....

Ash sure was weird!

Tahari's eyed Ash carefully, disbelief on her face at seeing her sister so...scared of bugs! They were kind of gross, Tahari could admit, but she didn't think that they were that bad. Oops. Hopefully Ash wouldn't tell on her to their mother later, or Tahari could be in a lot of trouble for teasing her sister about something that wasn't really there.

Her green eyes slowly looked at her side, the wriggling bettle caught in her fur. She knew that it was something Ruka liked, so instead of shoving it off, she gently picked it off her fur and settled it back on the ground, letting the little beetle recover from it's surely traumatizing experience. She motioned back to check on Ash when the sudden movement caught the blue cub off balance and she tumbled back over into the dirt.

"Ouch!" The cub grumbled as she pulled herself back up, instinctively crawling towards Ruka, since she hadn't scared her half to death. Yet.
