The cool crisp morning air felt so refreshing against his skin. That day he was dressed in long black nylons, deep dark purple high heels that seemed almost back but not quite, giving it a wonderfully smooth look. On with those was a matching dress, long and a bit puffed and layered. It looked like an old fashion dress with how much frills seemed to be on it. That day he was wearing yellow contact lenses over his eyes. There was likely to be something under the dress holding it out that way. The dress was so long it made it hard to see his feet unless he was walking around, then the bits that moved from under it would show as he moved. The sleeves were long and ended to show black gloves covering his hands and in one hand a beautiful old fashion umbrella women use to hold around for looks. If it wasn't for those contacts and hair he would look like a young girl that was stuck in the wrong time frame. It wasn't though, just a boy that liked to cross dress. On his face was black lipstick but today that was just about the only makeup on his face.
He would always dress different whenever he could. He loved wearing dresses or skirts, there were so many shapes, sizes and patterns of all kinds. It was so easy to feel like he was someone else for a short time. He liked to believe that at certain moments. It really did feel like he was such a coward. He had been staring at his cell phone for five minuets now. It was in his free hand, his eyes crunching a little as he stood near one of the many modern buildings in the city. He wanted to call Maria and talk to her and Chione, get them over. He knew the number, he was so sure but it just didn't feel like he had the courage to do it. It was frustrating and painful. If he called too early then wouldn't he bother her? But if he called too late she might already be busy. He let out a soft whimper, the poor boy looking so much like a beautiful women in deep distress. He needed to get a grip and just do it. They where his friends right? Of course they where. Then why was it taking so long to try to call? What if she didn't use a cell phone but a home phone so if he called her and she was already out she wouldn't answer? He let out another distressed whimper, finally getting up the nerve to dial the number, letting his phone ring as he waited and hoped she would pick up.
"Marie.. Chione.."

((TAG! Hope this is an alright start ^^; ))

"That's it. Now hold. Whoa there, don't let your leg slip." Marie's voice calmly echoed around her loft. The spring day was bright and sunlight flooded room. She crouched at the side of a huge canvas, one just shy of being taller than her lithe form, a couple of paintbrushes, a container full of muddy water, and a palette with an array of paint laid at her feet.

Her honey-toned hair was messily bunched behind her ears. She wore an old ragged pair of soffe shorts and an oversized "Save Darfur" t-shirt that was pulled tight by a thick, purple hairband. Marie's hazel optics were fixated on her model; Chione was before her, not so much a child but neither a teen. The young female was posing, her body in a half seated-half lying position. She was on the floor of the room, leaning on her elbows to the extent that her back arched slightly. Her legs, she extented into the air. The one closer to Marie, for it was a side view, she had bent at the knee; the other was perfectly straight and angled on a diagonal.

Now, the artist stretched across her canvas to make a series of brush strokes. As her eyes moved off of Chione, the girl relaxed, lowering her legs to the ground to take a quick breather. As Marie's head rose again, her ward quickly repositioned herself.

"I saw that," muttered Marie. "You try to," Chione began to retort, but the sharp ring of her guardian's cellphone cut her off. 'Who would be calling now?,' thought Marie, annoyance coming across her face. She put down her brush. "Fine, rest," groaned the older girl, rising to run into the bedroom to find the device.

With her pinky, the female flipped the phone open. She eyed the number- it wasn't one she had seen before. "Hello?"

Shins spirits raised a bit from the inner commotion once he herd the familiar voice answer and the ringing stop.
"Konichiwa Marie Chan, anoo gomen! Sorry, sorry I keep forgetting to speak English. All our conversations seem to start with me messing up."
In the end sometimes even when he spoke it sounded like he was double thinking things. He got worked up and worried so easily over the things he said and did around people, even Marie sometimes. He was worried of saying something wrong, a mistake then messing up his friendship with her. That was the last thing he wanted. It didn't occur to him that all that worrying wasn't needed about that. He shifted his thin feminine body a bit, almost leaning against a buildings wall near but then backing from it when he realized if he did it might get his dress dirty. Well, it was only natural to keep trying to speak your native language to people if you still remembered and used it. That didn't mean he wouldn't punish himself for it though. In any case after a pause he realized he forgot to say his name. 'Really though how many Japaneses guys that sound small and feminine does she know? No I shouldn't be rude! Its only polite to say it. There might be tons she knows, I can't make assumptions!' He thought to himself scolding himself in his head before his quiet feminine voice poked back out again.
"Sorry for being rude, its Shin. I hop[e you aren't busy."
If he was then he was being rude by calling! Oh he should have thought things through more!
"I was just wondering if you and Chione would like to do something today. If you aren't too busy.. But I didn't plan anything out... Sorry."
How many times had he apologized now? He really was a nervous skiddish little guy.

Her annoyance evaporated upon hearing the familiar voice. Laughing softly, Marie replied, "Don't worry about it. I was just polishing up a painting, but really, both Chione and I could use a break."

Stretching her sore limbs at the other end of the room, the mentioned girl crossed the loft. She leaned against one of the support pillars, her brown dress lopsided where the sleeves clung to her bony shoulders. "Whosit?," she asked.

"One second," Marie said to Shin before covering the microphone of the phone with her hand. "It's Shin. We're not busy today, are we?" Chione grinned, "Nope. At least I don't think so. And posing is boringggggg. Besides I haven't seen Shin in ages. I mean you get to bump into him in the city, but I never get to go out."

"You really don't need to whine, dear," retorted her guardian, the last word said sarcastically. "I was going to say yes." Uncovering the mouthpiece, Marie told Shin, "I'm back. Did you hear any of that? Chione and I are completely free for the day, so we'd love to meet up with you. Do you have anything in mind, at all?"

Shin gave a soft giggle, blushing a bit. Those two where so nice, it was so flattering to know they wanted to spend time with him more just like he wanted to with them. He was happy about the good timing. Today was going to be wonderful after all. He shook his head a bit, even though he knew the two couldn't see him moving. They where talking over the phone after all.
"I'm so Glad. No though, I didn't have anything in mind.."
What could they do? His body was so sore from last night. His boyfriend had been more rough with him then usual.
"I'll say some ideas though. How about going to the park?"
He then gave off a whimper.
"Never mind."
If he went to a park a guy or two would eventually try to hit on him or Marie. If his boyfriend saw he would get a fist full.
"How about going to a toy store or going to get some ice cream? I'll treat."
That sounded wonderful. It sounded cute. Oh but what if they didn't like toys? Choine was a kid though right? All kids loved toys so at least.. OH!
"That reminds me! An ice skating rink opened up a few days ago. Have ether of you checked it out yet? If not we could go there. Oh I hope my dress wouldn't get in the way, its so big and puffy.."
Well at least he wasn't fresh out of ideas. He was just happy for now at the idea of doing something with his friends.

“I haven’t heard about that ice skating rink before! That sounds like it might be a ton of fun,” gushed Marie, a smile dancing on her lips. “I haven’t ice skated in ages.” Her childish delight, was a deep difference from the absolute confusion on Chione’s face, the young girl listening in on the conversation. It was so infectious, however, that neither heard Shin’s comment about his dress, and within a minute, both had an atmosphere of excitement around herself. Of course, the mention of ice cream and toys did help to spread the mood.

“Where might the rink be located at?,” Marie continued. ‘Hopefully not too far from here,’ she thought, wanting to enjoy the pretty day (an irony, really, seeing as she was anticipating getting indoors for a winter sport) rather than let it waste by having to take a bus to get to the aforementioned destination.

Chione, by this time, had wandered into their bedroom and located a piece of paper. In her childish scrawl, for she did not go to school as she grew too abnormally and therefore Marie taught her in the artist’s spare time, she wrote, iss skutin?, on the paper with a dirty paintbrush. Then, she shuffled back to Marie and offered the card.

Marie held up one finger, signally her ward to wait. “We’re almost done ‘ere,” she whispered, covering the receiver with the paint-streaked palm of her hand.

Shins cheeks turned a slight pink from all the excitement he herd over the phone. He had been worrying so much, and second guessing so often all for no reason in the end? Well over worrying could be pretty bad he supposed. How could you over worry though? After all wasn't it better to be safe then sorry? Yes, he would rather play it safe and think things over in his head then sorry by saying or doing something stupid. He giggled gently before giving where it was a few thoughts. It didn't take too long to come up with an answer though.

"The ice skating rink? I herd its where an old skating rink was before. I guess when the people decided to make the place they thought it would be easier to restore and change around the old building then tare it down or make one from scratch. Do you know where the old big skating rink was? Thats where the ice skating rink is now, its just a bit bigger thats all. I'm not quite sure the address, sorry."

The pink faded from his face and he was back to worrying. They couldn't go there if Maria couldn't find where it was. If they couldn't go then what would be the point on bringing it up? But it was hard to learn addresses there! Everything was so modern with such hussle and bussle. Most buildings looked exactly the same to him. All tall modern buildings did to him. The only ones that didn't seemed to be the older ones. If it wasn't for them he wasn't even sure if he would be able to find his way to get to work every day.

“The old rink?,” echoed Marie, uncertainty in her voice. “Lemme think... I know I’ve passed it before, going somewhere, I just can’t place my finger on it.” She pursed her lips in thought, the fingers of her free hands delicately tapping against the corresponding hip, unconscious keeping time with her heartbeat. After pondering the matter for a minute or so, waving off Chione’s attempts to signal her to hurry and finish the conversation, Marie let out a little gasp of glee.

“I’ve got it! It’s pretty close to my neighborhood, en route to the waterfront, but in an area that I don’t usually end up in. The old rink was on Mursant Avenue and stretched from 21st street down to 20th. So I’m guessing that the new rink has the same address, but might be a tad bigger.” She was grinning with pleasure that her memory was working, for these days, things that used to be crystal clear in her mind often faded. Uncanny evidence pointed to sleeping with Chione as the cause, though despite the fact that the child had grown out of a music box, Marie still held doubts about whether or not the girlie could alter her mind.

“What time do you want to meet there?” The guardian glanced around the room, searching for a clock that clearly was nonexistent. Quickly, she took a step back so that she would peek into her bedroom. With a touch of difficulty, she managed to read the glowing digits of her alarm clock. “It’s almost nine forty-five right now. How does ten thirty sound to you?”

Shin nodded, listening to his friend talk and remember where it was. It sounded like she had been in the city longer then he had. He just wished she remembered he already told her it was a bit bigger now. It didn't bother him though, after all it sounded like she was so excited. If she was this excited then he couldn't wait to see her face when they got there. He wanted to see her and Choine. Hes first friends where both so nice he couldn't wait. After that long talk in the bakery they hadn't had much time together. This would be their first time going out for loads of fun.
"Ten thirty sounds wonderful. So I'll see you there then?"
It gave him more then enough time to get there. He just maybe needed to buy a pair of ice skates before he got there. Rentals where never a good thing to rely on. It was always best to just buy something if you're going to use it. He might go there more then once, who knows? He only knew.. that he REALLY hoped the dress didn't get in his way.

“Sure thing, I’ll see you then! Bye,” said Marie with a smile. She snapped her phone shut, now turning her attention to Chione. “Okay, so we’re going ice skating at ten thirty with Shin.” The younger girl, quickly gestured with her sign, re-signaling that ice skating was a foreign concept to her. “Oh yeah,” chuckled Marie. “Ice skating is basically when you skate- erm... walk in shoes with blades on the bottom- on ice. Okay, so that’s a horrible explanation, but you’ll see when we get there.”

As she talked, Marie made her way to her room where she began to dig through her dresser in pursuit of clean clothes. “It’s going to be cold there, so dress warmly,” she called back to Chione, all the while pulling out a pair of deep blue jeans (free of paint!) and a long sleeved black shirt. The little girl sighed, examining her own dress, the only piece of clothing she owned. It wouldn’t do, but she stayed away from Marie. Time had taught her that once Marie jumped into something- into anything- that she didn’t take interruptions well. Those had been frightening experiences, at least in Chione’s opinion. So, she’d wait until Marie was done dressing.

While Marie was stripping- and then running over to the bathroom to shower quickly, Chione occupied herself by looking around the loft. Marie’s dirty brushes lay where the artist had dropped to answer the phone. She had been working with acrylic paint, or at least that’s what Chione had thought. One thing she had learned under Marie’s tutelage was what was what in the art room. The lesson served more as a reminder of what not to touch, but since Marie was occupied, the little girl moved in. Gingerly she crouched by the still wet brushes, and she ran a finger over the bristle, get a streak of blue paint the fingertip.

The brushes would dry and get ruined if they weren't rinsed out, but Chione believed that Marie was probably too much in a hurry to remember to do that. That was another thing that the younger girl knew. Taking a peak over her shoulder, double checking that Marie wasn’t around (though she could hear the shower, it never hurt to be careful), Chione scooped up the dirty brushes and took them over to bathroom. The steam was too thick for visibility, but the little girl hurried in her chore anyway. Behind a plastic curtain and a glass door, she could hear Marie singing something, though the words weren’t audible. Her cleaning done, the little girl dumped the brushes where she had found them, and then walked out on the balcony to wait for Marie to finish up.

The older girl joined her ward in less than five minutes, her worn tote over her shoulder. “It’s nice out, hmm?,” she commented. “But we best get going. You wearing that? I thought I told you to get something warm on.” Chione opened her mouth to reply and was cut off. “I know, I know. I’ll lend you a jacket or something, and a pair of socks because rentals hurt without good padding.”

The two both returned inside, and Chione looked on while Marie dragged a brown blazer out of her dresser. “This should work. It might be a little big...” Her ward tried it on, and it fit decently, the brown working well with her dress. “Wow, you’ve grown,” said Marie in a carefree manner. Then, she frowned. “Wait. We haven’t seen Shin since before you evolv... grew up. What if he...” “Realizes that I’m not “normal?,” Chione’s tone was hurt, though she knew that half the reason why she was so contained was that Marie wasn’t sure of how to react to her.

“But you can’t not go," worried Marie. "He wanted to see both of us.” Chione took Marie’s hand, saying, “It’s going to be okay.” The girl was fully aware of her abilities, and now she gingerly attempted to revise the last few minutes in Marie’s mind. The older girl withdrew her hand, pressing her forehead for a second. “That’s weird,” commented Marie.
“What?”
“I totally just blanked. Wait! We’re going to be late, look at the time. I’m glad you found something to wear. Let’s go! ”

With that, Chione followed Marie out of the loft.

Shin hung up after Maria did, putting away his cell phone tucked inn some location under his dress somewhere. While those two where getting ready he was doing his own preparing. He stopped at a store the sold ice skates. It looked like it opened recently, maybe because of the other new business around. He tried not to take long, but it wasn't easy not to. Even when he found his size he wanted ones to match his lovely dress. It wasn't too hard though, he found a pair of deep purple ones and bought it. Keeping the purchase bag with him after he left he tried to hurry there as fast as he could. Which way was it though? Oh yes! That way. Oh he wouldn't make it without a bus would he? He could try. Maybe he could hail a taxi? No, no. He would just have to try to run and get there as fast as he could. Oh he hoped he did..

Then again it wasn't too late at all. the shop was on the way there and he had already been walking when Marie had called him. In the end there wasn't really anything to worry about. It was all in the pretty boys head. To him it was real though and so he tried to rush himself over. Thats not a very smart thing to do in such a long dress and high heels. As he ran his free hand held on to the dress so he wouldn't trip or rip the dress or step on it or anything. Even so though that didn't make it an any better of an idea. Its not like he was strong or athletic in any sort of way. If he was maybe he wouldn't look like such a pretty flower.

When it came to cross the street he tried to stop but tripped over one of his high heels and fall on the sidewalk, the bag with the ice skates and the umbrella falling over(he should have just held one in each hand and walked there instead of having both items in one hand). Due to what was under the dress though its not like what was under was free from view because of that. Lets just say it was very good he was wearing black nylons. Nobody stopped to help[ him up though, he got a few looks but nobody stopped to help him. The teen looking man sat up, brushing himself off a bit before wobbly standing up. He brushed himself off again, looking restored back to his former beauty before he had fallen over. Still, he poked at his hair a bit and started wishing he brought a mirror with him to check his makeup(the lipstick was still on just fine).

With that all done and over with he reached back down, grabbing the bag the pair of new ice skates sat in nestled in their bags. At least he wasn't wearing anything that could get broken right? Right. Wait, he still needed to worry about getting there. It was just across the street though, he just had to wait for the walking signal to come up. What time was it anyway? Wait, his umbrella! He looked around for it, trying to find it desperately. Why wasn't it near him? It should have fallen near where he was, right? But it didn't. Where.. Where?

"Hey doll face, looking for this?"
Shins eyes looked over, the yellow eyes landing on the man holding it. He frowned, letting off a small shiver. What was he doing there?! Had he followed him? Was his boyfriend stalking him? Maybe it had been a bad idea to get back together with him.
"Joshua, please hand it back. What are you doing here?"
The man held it out to the feminine boy. He was well shaved, looked rather masculine, had pale skin short dark brown hair and honey brown eyes. This was shins current boyfriend, a lot easier on the eyes then he was on the heart. He even dressed nicely. He looked his age too. He was a super model, like shin had a high paying job that allowed him to live a nice rich life. Its just Shins didn't depend on looks and the media and didn't land him in magazines.
"Maybe.. if you come over and give me a kiss."
Joshua said playfully, holding on to the umbrella and giving a sly playful smirk.
Shin knew that smirk... and wasn't too font of it, not in the least. He didn't want to do this, not right now. It would have been fine any other time but just.. just not now.
"I'm meeting some friends somewhere, please.. stop Joshua. I don't have time to play any of your games right now."

"Friends? When did you start having those? Are you lying Shin? Thats a bad habit. There shouldn't be any lying in relationships my pretty little lover."
Shin shook his head, frowning. He could feel the suspicion rolling off the english man. He understood where it came from though. Until a week ago he had no friends at all and never really had. Still, he didn't enjoy being suspected for cheating, besides he looked so strange who would he cheat on Joshua with anyway?
"I'm being honest. I made two friends a week ago. Please don't give me that look. Please don't follow me like you can't trust me."

Joshua shook his head, "I don't follow you because of that. I don't want you getting hurt. You're so frail.. Only I can touch you. "
The feminine male wasn't sure if that was meant protective, possessive, scary or all of the above. One thing he did know though, he wanted the umbrella back.
"Please.. Joshua I don't want to be late. Please hand me back the umbrella."

Crack. Marie's pinky snapped open her phone, the screen lighting up. The time was 10:25. Standing beside her, Chione suppressed the urge to sigh at what was the fifteenth round of checking the time. The walk from the apartment had taken a suprisingly short amount of time. Well, they did only had to cross one river and then walk down a couple of blocks.

The two stood outside the refurbished ice skating rink. It had grown by quite some margin, to Marie's amazement upon arrival. The outer stone glistened with fresh paint: ice skaters were depicted down the length of the entire block. Already on top of some of the elegant figures was graffiti.

"My goshhhh," sighed Marie, though she knew that she had nothing to complain about. "Why are we early? I'm never early. I prefer being late if nothing awaits us but boredom." Chione nodded for the sake of agreeing. Her guardian didn't notice- she was too fixated on other pedestrians as her honey-colored eyes scanned the crowd for Shin.

"I suppose we could get started on rentals. But then we'd need to split up because Shin might wait outside if he doesn't see up. And I don't want to leave you out here." Chione didn't bother reacting to the statement, seeing as what could be considered caring words were utterly murdered by Marie's flat tone.

Crack. Marie's pinky snapped open her phone, the screen lighting up. The time was 10:27. When would forever come?

"Not until you give me a kiss and stop lying your pretty little face off."
Joshua said, keeping the umbrella firmly in his grasp. Who would think such a nice looking man could be so cruel?

Shin didn't want to give him a kiss. He knew just what would happen if he did. His boyfriend would pick him up then take him back home in his car, wherever the thing was. His excuse would likely be something hurtful. He didn't mind that but he did mind the idea of being dragged off when he was meeting his friends and he was so close to getting there! He shook his head then did something without really thinking. He ran over and grabbed the umbrella, trying desperately to grab it back. He was scared of him and shouldn't be doing this. Whatever time he got back home after all this he had a feeling he wouldn't be able to sleep on his back after.
"I'm not lying! Please let go."

Joshua grabbed Shins wrist, giving the frail boy a good squeeze before letting go. Shin gave a loud yelp, his eyes tearing up a bit as his hands let go of the umbrella. Taking a few steps back he started to lean his back against a light post near the street cross a little. He knew it had been a mistake but he hadn't realized he would have done that. Well it was just an umbrella anyway right? Though a part of him really wanted to look just right. A part of him felt looking perfect to the part he was trying to mold himself in to was important. He wanted to look just the part, just right. But if he didn't go without the umbrella he wouldn't be able to see his friends or keep any of the look up. Next time it switched to walk the frail feminine man ran across the street to get to the ice skating rink, one hand lifting the hem of his dress so he wouldn't step on it with his high heels.
He spotted them! Maria and Chione! Chione looked different and bigger but that was defiantly her.
"Konichiwa!"
He stopped after getting to them, boing his head a bit.
"Sorry. I mean good afternoon."

Joshua just followed along calmly and sleek, keeping his honey brown eyes on the target. He would catch Shin eventually, he just wouldn't rush it.

Chione saw him first.

“Shin!,” her voice rang out with a child’s enthusiastic character, causing Marie’s pinkie to freeze where it was about to flip open her cellphone. “Where?,” asked the older female quietly; her hazel eyes re-scanned nearing pedestrians but [as before] Shin wasn’t picked up by her radar. “O’er there,” commented Chione, pointing at the pretty male.

“Hey Shin,” exclaimed Marie, sighting him with that last bit of assistance. In an accidental chorus, Chione and Marie chimed “It’s okay” to his apology over his language mix-up. Marie ignored Chione’s embarrassed glare, she, too, was blushing slightly, and continued speaking. “How’re you? You didn’t happen to have any trouble getting here or anything like that?” Oh she was rambling slightly, and she mentally kicked herself. It must be that it was still the morning- Marie, no matter how used she got to waking at six or earlier, despised any hour before twelve and as a result, blamed all mishaps prior to noon on the time rather than herself. A handy solution, really, if one thinks about it- half a life’s worries are given a failsafe excuse.

“Do you have skates, or do you need rentals? Chione and I don’t own pairs so we’ll have to pop into the rental line, once we’re inside. Sorry for the inconvenience, Shin.”

Chione concealed a small grin; it seemed as if her guardian was tripping over her own speech. The child really wondered why- usually Marie was more composed than this. Then again, she had always been a little self conscious. Silently, Chione pondered whether Marie had re-realized that her ward had grown and was trying to cope with it in a different manner than her earlier approach. Oh well, it really wasn’t Chione’s problem, as far as the little girl believed.

Neither Chione nor Marie noticed Shin’s stalker, seeing as both were preoccupied.

“Ano… “
Shin said, his eyes with the yellow contacts in them looking around with slight more paranoia then usual. He also didn’t connect the small slip. Even the smallest from English he would always correct and apologize for. Still these where very small changes and ones one would have to pay close attention to in order to notice. Of course he was dressed as a beautiful women still. The beautiful large dress looked soft velvety purple and had ruffles all over. The black gloved hands clenched gently against the bag they were holding.
“A little.. My boyfriend spotted me on the way here. He didn’t think I was really going to meet friends so he gave me some trouble.. And I would very much like it if we could hurry inside…“
If he didn’t have makeup on he would have bitten his lip. He had other was of relieving hen tension though so that was alright. He didn’t want to seem rude or in a hurry. He wanted to keep his manors but somehow he felt a bit like he was letting his fears get the best of him. He just didn’t want them to meet his boyfriend. He didn’t want his boyfriend to do something that might ruin his new friendship. He wanted to keep these friends. The last thing he wanted was for them to go away. The young looking adult doubted they would get along though. Besides, he didn’t want his boyfriend to do something that might hurt his friends Maria or Choine.
“I bought a pair on the way here. I don’t really need… rentals. Its not a inconvenience at all. Most people don‘t but ice skates when they might not do it again for years. Renting is a lot more practical then buying a pair..”
But Shin had never really been too practical while using his money. He just made sure he saved up the usual amount, and tried to chop the rest of the spending in different areas. He didn’t have to worry about going broke anytime soon but he tended to buy clothes up without really thinking of how often he would really need it or even use it.
