Rain pounded on the windows, and not too far off, thunder crashed. It seemed as though the weather was reflecting Remus Lupin's mood. He had his head against the window, and was barely listening to the dull conversation in the compartment. A book lay in his lap, his page marked with a single feather. On a normal occasion, he would have had his nose buried in the book, but today he couldn't concentrate. It was their last trainride on the Hogwart's express. He felt as though it were unfair, that they should have to be pushed into a world so sudden, especially when the world was in such turmoil. Already they were members of the Order of the Phoenix. Already they were caught up in a war. Remus let out a sigh, and glanced at his friends with a gloomy expression plastered on his face, which was quite unlike him. His amber eyes lingered a little longer on Sirius, before he turned back to the window, where the rain was pouring harder than ever. This was indead, a grim day.

Lily sighed softly as she jotted a couple of random notes down on a spare piece of parchment. She didn't really pay attention to the others jabbering on beside her as she concentrated. She wanted to be able to get her thoughts down before James or Sirius decided to speak up and banish them from her mind. As much as she loved James, he had the very annoying talent of making her forget important things. Before she could settle in for the rest of the ride, she knew that she had to get down each and every important thoughts. She scanned her mind for a moment, wanting so very much to make sure that she hadn't left anything out and, upon realizing she had finished, she let out a last quiet sigh, leaning back against the bench seat.
Lily neatly set away the spare parchment in a bag and glanced around to the others in the compartment, smiling lightly. They landed upon Remus, sitting by the window and staring blankly. He hadn't been himself lately and it worried Lily deep inside. "Remus?" She spoke up quietly. "Are you all right?"

Remus looked up, hearing someone say his name. He looked at everyone in confusion, before realizing Lily was staring at him. The young man heard the last thing she said, and gave her a tired smile. "I'm fine Lily." He said quietly, not quite meeting the redhead's eyes. Remus wasn't really fine; he was worried, and nervous. They were supposed to have their first Order meeting that night, mainly to get their assignments. Dumbledore had already talked to him briefly about what he was needed to do, and quite frankly it had shaken Remus to the very core.

The Dark Mark burned on his forearm, causing Regulus to grit his teeth. The burning sensation had been increasing during the past hour, a sign that Voldemort was calling a gathering of sorts. His eyes met those of his companions, and he instantly looked away. They were suspicious. Then again, they had reason to be. He had only just turned sixteen, yet he was a Death Eater, and quickly rising up in the ranks. This would be his last trainride on the Hogwarts Express; he was dropping out of school, to pursue his 'career'. He wouldn't miss Hogwarts much; most of the students were either half-blood, or muggle born. Regulus was nervous. He didn't really like the idea of killing people, although his mother had convinced him it was necessary; Therefore, he had joined the Death Eaters, to help purify the wizarding race. Therefore, he was sitting in the same compartment as his fellow Death Eaters, most of which disliked him. The Dark Mark burned again, and Regulus flinched. It was going to be a long trainride.

>> Only the blackest of heartsSirius Black looked at his friends, the Mauraders and love interests, and knew that all of them were feeling the Order's burden already. He wouldn't deny that being in the Order of the Phoenix was going to be hard, and there was a high chance that some of the people in the car were not going to make it out of the war. It was a very morbid thought, his best friend, his girlfriend, Peter (while it hurt him to even think about it - if any of them were going to die, it would probably be his mousy friend), and Remus - he paused slightly to look up at the werewolf - could all be gone, Sirius himself could end up passing on by the end of this battle.
He didn't want to think about it though - James and Lily were going to make it, have a beautiful child (or perhaps attempt a Weasley trick and have twenty), Peter was going to... well, he probably wouldn't amount to much - but he'd end up having a child somewhere in there... and Remus... Sirius almost growled at the thought of him actually getting married to some woman and having children with her - so he merely substituted the concept of him being a successful auror into his head.
No matter what his friends and himself moved on to do, however - he wanted them all to live. Sirius could tell his friends were thinking similarly morbid thoughts, even if they were trying to hide it, but there wasn't much he could think to say. He was only half-listening to what James was telling him, something that attempted to be casual rubbish about pranking Snape one last time before they ended up going to war with him. Sirius just agreed, throwing in obscure comments when it felt appropriate - occasionally looking over at Peter (who was squirming about in his seat) or Lily and Remus.
((-ponders- where would Barty be at this time? I have no idea how old he is...)) Can feel the purest of love <<

[[I'm not quite sure. We know that he was quite young when he went to Azkaban. Want to assume that he is in the same year as the Marauders?]] Remus met Sirius's eyes for a moment, then quickly looked away, out the window. He listened to James's conversation about pranking Snape, something he thought was quite immature. They were eighteen, at least most of them were. Some still had a few months yet. Frowning, Remus sensed that Sirius had suddenly become tense, well more than he already was. He turned his head to glance at the young man, one eyebrow raised. "Something bothering you?" he asked softly, his amber eyes searching Sirius's face.

>> Only the blackest of hearts((sure, let's go with that))
Sirius looked at Remus, faking his usual canine grin and reached his hand out to mess up the werewolf's hair, "It's nothing Moony, just thinking about our last one at Snivellus - if he weren't everything I hated, I'd almost miss the guy," he said jokingly. Sirius knew that Remus could read him a bit better then James, Lily, or Peter could - but he hated upsetting him, so he was willing to put his acting skills to the test if he needed to. After thoroughly ruining any attempted hair style Remus had, he pulled his hand back and flashed him another grin and clapped his hands together silently, quickly coming up with some ideas for jokes on Severus to keep his story true.
---
Bartemius Crouch the II, or if you chose to be less formal about it, Barty Crouch Jr., looked across his compartment at Regulas Black, noting the flinch that would come upon his features with each burning of the Dark Mark. It was pathetic really, but the Blacks were a great ally to their cause (the traitor, Sirius, aside), so he didn't say anything about that to his face. Barty looked at the other Death Eaters in the compartment, joking about a variety of matters that would not be considered friendly to a more sane group of people (mostly relating to who they wanted to kill). Barty grinned sadistically and looked up a bit in an almost dreamy state, "Personally, I wouldn't mind a go at the Longbottoms..." Can feel the purest of love <<

Remus sighed, flushing slightly, while he fixed his hair. He had an annoyed expression on his face, but finally gave into Sirius's smile, one stretching across his own face. Whenever Sirius smiled, it seemed to be infectious, and Remus couldn't help but smile back. There was something wrong with Sirius, he knew that, but if his friend didn't want to talk about it, then he wouldn't push him to. He would tell him eventually, as Remus knew from past experience. The werewolf brushed his tawny colored hair back from his face, frowning. "Somehow...I don't think this is the last we'll be seeing of Snape." he said darkly. But then he smiled again, almost shyly. Even after seven years he was still shy around his friends, Sirius in particular. There were so many things that Sirius and James still didn't know about him, and he was scared what would happen if they found out.
Regulus's eyebrows rose, only just managing to hide his slight surprise. "The Longbottoms? I'd rather have a go at the Weasleys. Whole lot of them are blood traitors, not to mention they'd be easy targets, with all those damn children running around." he shook his head slightly. "Then again, the Longbottoms would be worth it. From what I've heard they're both fairly powerful, for blood traitors anyway." Regulus didn't quite meet Barty's eyes. Truthfully, he was a bit of afraid of the other young man. He seemed...insane. More insane than the rest of them at least.

>> Only the blackest of heartsSirius' smile left him briefly at the morbid thought. He wasn't going to say he liked Severus Snape - hell, he wasn't even going to say he didn't want the Slytherin to die, but the fact that they might have to kill him was not something he really wanted to think about. "Consider this the last time on... civil terms, if you can call them that," he said, smiling lightly at Remus. He glanced to his side at James and who would probably become a future Potter herself, wondering if their thoughts were as morbid as the two canines, or if their heads were on the sight of church bells and a boy or girl of their own. Sirius loved them, but sometimes he couldn’t talk to them about issues like the war, it was all just too depressing.
"Eh, don't even talk to me about the Weasleys..." Barty muttered, shuttering at the thought of the blood traitors as if he were amongst the good people and the younger Black had spoken of their Lord. He looked Regulas curiously, analyzing the Death Eater with some interest. The guy did not seem like one of their ranks, but family could get people anywhere now a days. Barty smirked at that thought, wondering what his father would do if he ever learned what side he allied himself with. Should he ever get caught - heh, he'd probably end up getting his trial from his own father... that could be useful later on. "Bloody traitors..." Can feel the purest of love <<
