This months book is Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. It is a comedy, and here is where we shall be discussing it! biggrin

Without further ado, you may begin the conversation.

I love this book- I think this warrants a re-read.
But I just wanted to say I loved the comraderie between the Demon and the Angel- it was a really good element to the book and can be taken so many ways- Pratchett and Gaiman seem to be able to provoke thought and ideas while also providing an enjoyable and downright hilarious read.

The dynamic relationship between Crawly and Azaraphael was pretty interesting, but in my opinion Azaraphael's character was much shallower than Crawly. Essentially, there was little development on the Angel's part until the point where he put out the US guard, which was damn near the end of the novel. Crawly was unique in that strong hints were given throughout the book as to Crawly's motives: he was following orders. If the authors intended to drive home the point I believe they were trying to make, Crawly and Azaraphael should've been equal but opposite. Each should've reflected only their individual part in the duality of the Christian religion. The reader couldn't help but sympathize more with the demon, because his character was so much better written. That smashed the entire "good and evil are just words for different sides" doctrine that Gaimen and Prachett seemed to be harping on.

I'll post up more later, I'm getting kind of sleepy.

Good Omens, as Mara-ani said, definitely warrants a re-read. One of my favorite parts was the interpretation of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Famine's part in the fast food industry, was one of my favorite aspects.

I love how the library still doesn't have this book, even though I reserved it 2 weeks ago. stare

That's sad... And also part of the reason I don't use the library.

Bizarrely, a friend of mine loaned me the book two months ago. I had given it back to him before I even joined Gaia, but since I only keep one book on me at a time and oft forget to change it, I wound up reading it about three times. Well, twice. Odd how things work out, isn't it?

Yes, very. Still, at least it was a good book that you ended up reading twice. I don't do that very often myself... Oh, did anyone else like the nunnery? It so very perfectly exemplified the way we manage to get ourselves out of everything...

I'm late! XD But I finally got the book and read most of it. It was extremely funny. One of the things that comes to mind is the Hell's Angels who follow the Horseman (or is it Bikers?) of the Apocolypse. (I butchered that word. sweatdrop ) and the names they take for themselves. XD

I have to go.

I finally got the book! It was so good, I read it in one day. I may point out that I was book deprived at the moment, so I might have read anything. Bt I thought it was really good.

I loved those guys too! Cruelty to Animals, Really Cool People..... xd

I'M FINISHED!!! Took me forever, but I finally finished the book. And before the year was over. Anyways, the book was good. I liked Crowley the best. His character just had alot to it. The kids got on my nerves though. I guess that's to be expected since most 11 year olds annoy me. It was a funny book, I'm starting to really like Gaiman, and I want to read more by Pratchett.
