I've been considering for quite some time now of returning to WoW. The biggest thing holding me back is 15 dollars a month plus a 60 dollar expansion pack. I was talking to my friend about returning and mentioned I sold my old account. My friend said I needed a new copy of WoW I told him that I didn't give away the cd key, just the account name and password. He said when you sign up the key is on your account. I don't see any of this making much sense but is he right?
Do I need to buy a new copy of WoW even though I never gave out my CD Key?
Also a side question, how hard is it going to be to find groups for 50 and under instances? I don't want to get the game if I'll hardly be able to get any lower level gear.

You will need to repurchase the game. The CD-key only validates that you have a valid game copy - not an account key. You must have an unused account key to make a new account. You can sometimes find account keys floating around eBay, although I myself would just go down to Wally-World & get it for $18, & be assured of getting the damn thing. xd Then you also get the free month + the ten day trial.
The expansion pack is only $35, I believe. The limited edition was $80. <_<;;
Last question: it depends on your server. The newer the server, the more lower-leveled people. There you go. If you're looking for a nice Horde-side RP server, Moonrunner has been my choice for the past month.

Okay, thanks but I still don't get it. So you can only have one account per WoW copy? I played my account on my friend's installed copy though and the guy I sold it to had WoW discs already installed on his computer. I don't still fully understand why I couldn't make a new account. It's more in Canadian dollars.

Ok, I know what your going through.
The Key that was provided with your CD's, can only be used to create one account. You need to pay 20$ for a whole new account. You may still use the disc's to install, just the CD key was only good for 1 character.

Your account is not bound to the computer you install WoW on though - you can play your account from any computer with WoW installed. You won't have your addons though. This is so you can't go download the game off Bittorrent or something & buy an account key off eBay or whatever. So I'm understanding this alittle bit, sorry I'm a little slow at times. So they account key is only good for one account, I don't remember putting that in at all, and I would still need to get a new one even though I no longer own my previous account and plan on making another? I still have a unused CD Key, so when I reinstall it and use that I'll get all the files I'll need and it'll pull me up to the log in screen but I can't make a new account. Also I forgot to mention my friend gave me a ten day free trial. Would this help me at all?
