On his second night in the church, high above the chapel where people came daily to pray to a God Riley had never understood, Riley sat on the side of his bed in a towel, running his fingers through what remained of his mohawk. He hadn't been able to keep the spikes intact, so instead, they now drooped forward, just a purple and blue-green strip of hair hanging down in front of his right eye.
It was an interesting look for him...perhaps it was time to get rid of it...
It was then that he began to think harder about his mohawk...and everything else that had been going on the past couple of days. He knew there was something annoying in the back of his mind that wanted him to change. It had wanted him to quit doing dope. And well, that seemed to be a success. He hadn't had a craving at all since he'd been on Gaia. He did feel the emotions associated with the process of it, but he didn't want it anymore.
The same annoying feeling, he decided, wanted him to do things he normally wouldn't do, and he didn't like it one bit. He'd accepted his fate on that space ship so easily. But why? Normally, he never would have said yes to something like that. But somehow, he'd changed his mind. Odd.
And now, the mohawk.
NO. He wouldn't do it. He'd had enough changes so far.
Standing up, he finished drying his legs and proceeded to get mostly dressed--well, if you could call only pajama pants "mostly" dressed. The soft bed the nuns had so graciously allowed him to use seemed to be calling his name. He was tired...all of the changes in his life had been drastic, and he'd not yet had time to recover.
He slipped between the sheets, still a bit starchy, and within minutes, his eyes fluttered shut. Within ten minutes, he was snoring.

As he slept his soul floated above his body. He was still in the room and he could see obviously that he was just dreaming and not dead. The ghostly relic around his neck was warm and seemed to beckon him across the room. But to what? He was answered when he looked up and saw a door which had not been there before. Was that was the relic wanted? Oh great this was the strange dream the kid had mentioned!

Riley was a bit surprised to say the least. He hadn't really believed...well, okay, so he'd halfway believed that what the kid had said was true. He was definitely in a lucid dreaming state, having only been able to do this normally on rare occasions. Interacting with one's dreams took skill and effort. Most of the time, he just wanted to sleep at bedtime. Dream adventures just weren't necessary.
But he felt the pull from the coin tied around his neck, so he got up, and decided that the door seemed to be the best option. That's where the coin wanted to go, so he supposed he'd follow.
He walked toward it, throwing on his torn hoodie as he did so (yes, even in dreams, he wanted to be warm), and turned the doorknob, wondering what he'd find on the other side. Hopefully, it'd be the hallway of the church.

Sadly for him it was not. When he passed through the door it vanished behind him, leaving him in a place he'd never been.
It was a lovely place though. A jungle like setting, filled with flowers of every color.
Laying on the ground before him was a young woman. She had an ethnic appearance. Tanned skin, almond eyes, and a strange grace that one only rarely saw. Her ears were high and pointed and also very intricatly jeweled. She wore a lot of gold bracelets and bangles. Around her neck was wrapped a necklace of coins. It wasn't just one layer either. The jeweled golden cord was wrapped several times around it and from it hung many gold pieces. Her long black hair had crimson tips that seemed to blend into the black with a gold streak running through the hair. It was high in a strange style, which involved many loops and hung jewels of of it.
Her well endowed upper body was clothed in an off the shoulder top that revealed the top of her chest, her shoulders and her pierced and hennaed midriff. She wore a long skirt that clung to her hips and had a slit up the side. It was wrap around and revealed her slender legs.
She was highly pierced and seemed to delight in jewelry especially gold and rubies. Her arms, stomach and legs were adorned with henna markings of a type that he'd never seen before. Had she been alive she'd have been lovely. The epitome of a foreign goddess. This had to be her, being the only being present.
The relic around he neck beckoned him to lay a hand on the woman. What she had died of was unknown but it was a sad sight to see such a beautiful creature left like this.

Riley practically stumbled through the door as he gaped in awe of his surroundings. He'd literally stepped into a tropical paradise. A tropical paradise with a beautiful girl sprawled out in front of him.
She was bedecked in golden jewelry, and expensive fabrics, and even her hair seemed to be opulant and utterly perfect. The henna markings on her body were intricate, and she had more piercings that even he did. She was a goddess, lying there in front of him, looking as helpless as a woman could possibly look.
He attempted to keep his eyes from bugging out of his skull when he saw her, in awe of her beauty. "Miss? Are you okay?" he asked, following the feelings he got from the relic around his neck. It wanted him to touch her.
When he didn't get an answer from her, he leaned down and touched her calf, wondering if she was warm and alive, or not.

Her body had been cold and lifeless but when he touched her, the woman's body glowed, completely enveloped in light and heat. The necklace also glowed, shooting from his neck and into her, leaving him bare of that piece of jewelry.
After a while the glowing figure shrunk, and when the glowing stopped something was left in it's place. A small baby-which currently seemed to have no gender-decked in a gold trimmed red shawl-which could easily be made into a small sari for her by a nun with sewing know-how. She was cute as a button, with that lovely black hair and huge eyes. Reaching her arms out to him she smiled broadly.

Riley pulled his hand away from her when she started glowing. He had to shield his eyes from the blinding light, and he was still taking in how his hand had turned from cold to almost hot as he watched the woman transform in front of his eyes.
He felt the necklace fly from his neck and somehow it moved to the woman and her skin enveloped it, sinking into her body.
When the glow faded away, the baby that remained looked much like the older woman who had been there before. She was wrapped in silky crimson cloth and as she reached out for him, his new fatherly instincts kicked in. His dream-body went to the baby, lifting her from the ground and holding her close.
He could hardly believe this was happening.

When he picked up the small child she cooed happily. He had claimed her so the door reappeared, wide open, allowing both to return to their bodies. The relic around his physical neck was gone, leaving the baby's body in it's place. When he woke up she was right there, alive as he was and perfectly happy. He had recieved his child as promised.
