.... Yeah. Topic title sucks. Anyways, I've been thinking about Sasuke's childhood for about an hour now. I keep watching a music video that shows parts where Itachi is talking to Sasuke. It's really cool and all. Which is how I came up with this baby. BD
Hints of Revenge? By PeacefulLight
In Sasuke's childhood, Itachi dropped many hints that Sasuke was to seek revenge after Itachi killed the clan. I shall list what the hints were.
Itachi says....
>That power makes you isolated and arrogant, and that if you're skilled that's what happens. >That Sasuke has the potential to test Itachi's "capacity". >He was going to let Sasuke live for his sake. >"In the beginning, you only aim for what you dream of. It's just that we're unique siblings. I'm the barrier you must overcome, so you and I will continue to exist together. Even if you hate me. That's what a big brother is."
Alright, done there. Now, you may ask yourself "What does that have to do with anything?". Fact is, it has a lot to do with everything. How Sasuke acts at age twelve, why he seeks revenge in the first place, and what he means to accomplish. Maybe, I'm not sure. All very... Complicated, if you ask me.
I say....
>Sasuke is arrogant and isolated before Team 7 comes along. He is skilled, very skilled. Like his older brother. >Itachi wants him to commit a sin to defeat a sin. No. He wants Sasuke to face him one-on-one. Why didn't he when they came for Naruto? He needed to do something back then and saw his little brother was blinded by hate and greed. >Zooming back to the second one listed. Itachi wants Sasuke to live a healthy life. Turns out, his plan didn't work too well. >This whole thing smells of "I'm going to kill the clan and then we shall play "Revenge: Cat-and-Mouse Style". Sasuke aimed to impress his father. Didn't work too well. In order to gain the respect he wants from Itachi and his father, he must defeat Itachi. Doesn't mean a battle or anything, Sasuke just takes it that way. Itachi will not die without first helping his brother unlock the power within him. Plainly, that's what he means. Currently, Sasuke hates Itachi with every fiber of his being and unstable mind. This also goes with SasukexNaruto. Just a random fact.
Yeah, now your wondering "... What?". Are you? Aw, you're not? Oh well. that's the end of it until I think of more. Ciao!

I am somewhat wondering, "...What?" But that's A-OKAY! *thumbs up*
These days, I really don't know WHAT the hell Itachi was thinking. D:
But I do have comments to make~
The quotes you shed to light: "That power makes you isolated and arrogant, and that if you're skilled that's what happens." And " "In the beginning, you only aim for what you dream of. It's just that we're unique siblings. I'm the barrier you must overcome, so you and I will continue to exist together. Even if you hate me. That's what a big brother is." "
Okay, I think you're right about Itachi planning this ahead, and warning Sasuke about it. The fact that he told Sasuke of power making you arrogant really interests me.
It's human nature for a person to see their faults and judge upon them more than anyone else. I think this is what was happening with Itachi. Being such an elite ninja at such a young age made him realize that he had SO much power, and he felt like he had more authory than he really did. I think he was telling this to Sasuke for two reasons.
1.) Advice from older to younger brother. 2.) To make Sasuke notice what Itachi was going through at the time: Pressure 3.) To warn Sasuke. "Look at me now that I have so much power. See what it's doing to me and to my relationships." I think he WANTED Sasuke to see that if things go the way they went for Itachi, it'll all be pretty ******** in the end.
Which confuses me a bit, as afterwards he told Sasuke to gain power to defeat him. Could it just be that Itachi (being too young to act like he should at his level, let's remember he was still a young teen) was jealous of Sasuke having an easier lifestyle? I have no clue.
Now the second thing I quoted.
Now, I'm no big brother, but I AM a big sister, who has no older siblings. I can understand some of what Itachi's saying. As an older sibling, I'm constantly striving to make my own little brother to better, and to watch out for mistakes that I've made somewhere along the road. "...you and I will continue to exist together. Even if you hate me. That's what a big brother is." Is the part I'm talking about. Siblings are sibling to the end, despite arguements or whatever. And being an older sibling ( a good one, at least, imo) very well means wanting the best for your younger brother/sister(s).
"In the beginning, you only aim for what you dream of."
This also strikes me as intruiging. Itachi here is speaking of a personal experience, otherwise he wouldn't know of such a thing. This makes me wonder exactly WHAT his "dream" was. I'm thinking it was something along the lines of freedom, from his duties and of his clan. You look at Itachi present day, and he's a very laid-back man. He's also very polite (Excluding Sasuke, but that's a sibling thing that I know and understand very well.) to everyone. To me that shows that he's found a least a part of what his original dream was. But of course, I'm only guessing. :/
My theory is that Itachi was being overly rash when he planned and executed the Uchiha clan massacre. He was very young, with too much power. He probably was upset with Sasuke (like I stated before, jealousy) and out of a love/hate kind of way, told Sasuke that 1.) If you don't like it, then beat me. 2.) Again, LOOK WHAT ALL THIS POWER HAS DONE/CAN DO.
Now, as he grew up, I'm sure Itachi somewhat realized killing the clan wasn't the best option, but being the calm and collected guy he is, told himself what's done is done, and went on with life. (This would explain why all interest in Sasuke was lost, and his focused turned to Akatsuki matters).
Unfortunately, Sasuke's way of thinking is rash as well. He thinks the only way to defeat Itachi is to gain all the power he can to kill him, when (since Itachi isn't really that interested) all he probably had to do was live the free life Itachi never had. Though I completely understand why Sasuke did what he did, and to be honest, I 99% likely would have done the exact same thing.
Either way, I hope that when Sasuke kills Itachi, the elder will clear Sasuke (and all of OUR) our minds with what the truth is. 3nodding
((...Wow. I wrote ALL of that? ...Is there even a POINT in what I wrote?! gonk ))

Lol. Thank you for clearing a partial space in my mind so I can think better. :3 I'm an older sister myself. I envy my little bro's care-free life with no school. He's five right now, starting school next year.

You people think too much. Seriously. o.o;
But yeah, I agree with the points you guys make. Itachi could easily be testing Sasuke, instead of doing this maliciously, out of a personal grudge, or anything. I think he just wanted Sasuke to be content, but his plan backfired horribly.
That, or he was right about the 'too much power' thing, and he got corrupted himself.
((And that was a waste of a post, because basically I just restated what you said. gonk ))

But thinking underneath the underneath is so much fun gonk XD Anyway, I'm so glad you brought this topic up, PeacefulLight <3. I've been thinking about doing a mini essay on Sasuke and Itachi's relationship now, but haven't started lol. I definitely think Itachi definitely cares about Sasuke than he lets out.
