How can a place with so much peaceful meaning feel so dark?
Because death followed him everywhere he went.
Ghast sputtered out curse after curse as he stepped foot in the abandoned sanctuary- once a place where his fondest memories lay turned into a barren headquarters for crooks and thugs. "Get out." He hissed at the boys who had taken the sacred place for their own- who gave the crazed man an equally crazed stare. "Hey! We don't take your kind here! Beat it!" They all reached for their weapons, grinning at the fact that they outnumbered the man. Ghast remained steady, but giving out a loud cry as his tainted wings instantly sprouted from his back. "LEAVE!" The criminals took no time in stumbling over themselves to flee from the man, who stood for a while after they had taken their leave. "Ignorant children." He managed to mumble. "They know nothing of death..." Of course, Ghast had already died before, given a second chance by the Unknown Being if only the boy had served it as a slave- which the boy defeated, but Unknown had left it's mark as the wings he now possessed. Ghast made his way to the abandoned altar, barely clinging to it as he took out a lighter, lighting the candles sitting on it.
"Tainted..." He whispered, repeating the words the Unknown Being said before it's last breaths. "...Impure..." He plucked one of the blackened feathers from his wings, bringing it to one of the flames, burning the feather. Ghast then shut his blue eyes, letting the tears of the past fall as he fell with them, knocking the two candles over as he was launched into slumber, taking the sanctuary and his second life with him...

Most beings who were destined to be guardians had never died before. Ghast had and was dying once more. And just as before, an unknown force-one of a different nature-would be reviving him for a task.
The spirits which were usually to kill guardians so their souls could be bonded with that of the dead deity which they were to give new life to. But in this case, the power which chose Ghast, informed them that they need not kill him, just wait for hmi to do it himself as it knew he would.
The spirits cleaned up the mess left by his death, doing their best to respect the peace of the place. After all, they were dead, they could understand that kind of place. They also were forced to repair his body, removing his soul and sending it to be bonded with a deity.
His repaired body was left on the Tison Space Ship, the Samadueanna, in a bed where he would awake when his soul had bonded with the deity. Around his neck was placed a silver chain that would hold the relic that would house the deity's soul. And finally his information was put on the ship's computers as the current guardian informer-a small boy called Diyaka-entered the room to wait for the man to wake up.
One of the deities that felt somewhat akin to Ghast bonded souls with him and a relic of a black sword with a spiked ring behind it, appeared on his neck. And then the two souls were sent back to their bodies, causing Ghast to have to wake up to live once again.

The man's eyes soon began to open, forcing himself to a sitting position as soon noticed his new location. It wasn't exactly as he expeced- Hell, he never thought he'd be alive again.
Reassignment.
Ghast scratched his neck, noticing the pendant necklace that had been placed on him- a clue of what he was to do in his third life. "Yet another chance to live..." He mumbled, looking at the person who was also in the room. "You people just don't want me to die." He finished with a grin. Ghast rotated his shoulders, finding that his wings had somehow retracted themselves.

"No I don't want anyone to die. Dying is bad. It hurts." the boy said with a confused look on his face. This man was funny. "hi! I'm Dia." the boy told him cheerfully, trying to strike up a less confusing conversation. "You're gonna be a daddy."

"Well, I guess it depends on how you die." Ghast chuckled at the kid. "It can be painful, but that'll let you know you've lived for the best and tried everything you can before your fuse is out... Or you can be a wimp and die peacefully." Looking at the boy, he grinned. "And dying isn't fun unless you take Hell with you, kid."
Hearing the last part of Dia's sentence seemed to drain Ghast's face of all color. "D-dad?" He then looked down at his stomach, pulling his jacket up a small bit to make sure that there were no signs of a pregnancy.

Dia giggled. "Not the tummy pregnant kind of Dad." he told the man. "That would be silly and would involve another person and special cuddling Mommy says. You're going to be raising a reborn god baby. And it's going to come out of that magic necklace." he said pointing at it. The necklace couldn't be removed but one could still show the wearer what it was.

"Ah, that's good to know." Ghast looked at the necklace, giving the pendant a good examination. "And how... Does that... Happen...?" He spoke in parts, very confused on how this thing would take the form of a child. "A reborn God, huh?" He smiled, taking small guesses in his mind on what God it would be.

"Well it's soul is in there-you had to die to bond with the soul and bring it back to this world. In 2 days you're gonna have a funny dream and in your dream you'll go in and get the god's body. Then you wake up and you have a baby." he said with a nod. "And we can find out what god you had by looking it up on the funny computer thing" Indicating a small PDA with a picture of the relic and information on it. "IF you read what god it is for me I will go and find a picture of them in the magic book to show you."
The information listed was as follows- Previous Name: Kiemna God of: Metal Age At Death: 32 Manner of Death: Was possessed by the Betrayer and forced to fight his best friend who honorably took Kiemna's life. Guardian: Ghast

Ghast paid attention to the boy as he spoke, nodding affirmatively when he was finished. When he was directed to the screen, he read aloud "Kiemna- God of metal." To the boy. As he read, he smiled. "Good thing his friend knew of what happened, then." the man mused.

"Well it happened a long time ago. His friend is reborn now too. They can be friends again!" Dia said happily, picking up a large old leatherbound book and opening the cover. The first page, instead of being an old hand written text or something.....was a large glossy image of a young man. He had broad shoulders and a large chest and a liking for bizarre clothing. A silver mask covered his face from the nose down. And around his neck was a red scarf. His shirt was a white plate mail of some sort and he had large silver shoulder pads on. But his arms and legs were covered in tightly strapped leather armor. The buckles and spikes going down added for a lot of flash to his appearance.
THe man's hair was spikey and black and his eyes were a gentle red-brown color and seemed to have a strange strength but rightiousness in them. It was kind of odd to see this being, holding that broad sword, looking so powerful and proud, and to know that he'd had to be killed by his best friend to save him from a terrible fate.

"So this is him..." Ghast said, giving the picture a good look. "...Someone who looked so powerful brought to such an end..." He took the pendant in his hand, giving it another look as he noticed things about it that matched the late God.

"You'll give him a new start right Mister?" Dia asked. He liked to know that the other godlings were going to good homes.

Ghast looked at the boy, giving him a grin. "As best I can." He confirmed as he turned to the edge of the bed. Slowly, he started to lift himself, giving a good stance before he could stand confidently.

The small PDA blinked, saying that they'd reached Ghast's destination. Diyaka led him to the transporter room and with that another guardian had recieved their charge.
