"In abortion, I don't intend to kill a fetus. I intend to end my pregnancy. "
I dunno, maybe I'm just not bright enough to see how there's a difference. I'm just not subtle enough....

Hon, don't even start with that one.
I hate how they use it. They used it against me in a debate once, and they were all "The purpose of abortion is to end the pregnancy, and the fetus dying is a byproduct of that."
My argument was that, whether intentionally or unintentionally, abortion has the same end: To end the pregnancy by killing the child. A child DIES in abortion, and they call it a "side effect"? Mhm.
Maybe I have too much empathy or something, but I wouldn't want to marginalize anyone's death by calling it a "side effect".

...... yeah right. and that children is called hypocracy. they're just rewording it to make themselves feel better. if they said "to kill a fetus" then they would actually have to admit that they are taking away a life.

yes, which lead to my gun analogy. if killing a fetus is merely a byproduct of abortion, murder is only the byrpoduct of firing a gun and should therefore be entirely legal, safe and free.

"Never meant to kill a fetus" case closed. they're knowingly and willingly destroying it.

Ok, in order to end a pregnancy the fetus must be destroyed. To destroy a fetus is to end a pregnancy. Same differnce no matter which way you say it. I am pretty sure this saying came about as to bring a positive light to a negative action. They are pro-choice and of course they wouldn't want to say something that others might take as horrible. By saing that they did not intend to kill the fetus many people just take it at face value.

a sadistic part of me hopes to hear that used by some wacko that bombed a clinic:
"I never wanted to kill anybody, i just wanted to get that clinic off the street"
As much as i despise them, their use of logic is often quite similar to pro choicers.

Hmm im with you on that one. Either way it seems that you are killing something... it isnt a side affect there the same thing. At least to me. Then again they say if you kill puppies inside the mother its murder... but a fetus (being a baby in a secse) isnt murder?! Its amazing how people will twist things around to think there right. Abortion makes me sick and get me super emotional. Ugh see its starting already. neutral

I've never heard that. And they wouldn't call it murder, since puppies are animals.

I heard it on the animal channel in New York I think. Its where the animal police are actually allowed to carry fire arms and make arrest just like a normal cop would to a human.

But it's not murder, it's animal cruelty at best.

No, actualy Ser. When it comes to police K9 units, those dogs have just as much protection over them as a police officer does. If the dog is hit by a car, its, well...nothing sadly. To the state any ways. I personaly feel every hit animal on the road is a tragedy. But i digress, if you kill a police dog, you can be charged with murdering an officer.

Hmmm, really? Maybe abuse of police property, but I doubt murder.
