Quote: "Bunyan spent a year in prison, Coleridge was a drug addict, Poe was an alcoholic, Marlowe was killed by a man he was trying to stab, Pope took a large sum of money to keep a woman's name out of a vicious satire and then wrote it so that she could be recognized anyway, Chatterton killed himself, Somerset Maugham was so unhappy in his final thirty years that he longed for death... do you still want to be a writer?" Isn't it funny that the creative people always go bonkers? To add to this list, I know of Virginia Woolf (I only recommend Mrs. Dalloway if you are an insomniac or need a way to inhumanly torture somebody). Do you know any other writers who have gone nuts? surprised

How I describe it: It's a book about a woman who is confused.
How Salvadore describes it: It's a book about a woman complaining about how much her life sucks.

May I give advice--NEVER go to WIKIPEDIA for ANYTHING.
I had to use it...and I hate it.
Everything leads somehow to the most gruesome stuff...UGH.
And it's total BS...anyone can edit it...

Well, to say that creative people have a higher tendency to go crazy you would first have to consider what creativity is, and for that matter what insanity is. Someone who is creative, creates things with little difficulty, meaning they likely have an active imagination. Insanity is a term defined by a general consensus of what thought process and mentalities are considered normal; someone who is insane falls beyond the bounds of these norms. So, to say someone is creative you are saying they have an above average imagination, at least it's likely. So, if you are creative you are already a little crazy to begin with. I guess the ones you listed above just got a little too creative twisted

Once I hallucinated and my characters sat in the backseat of my sister's car and talked to me for like, thirty minutes. IT WAS GREAT. I wish they'd do it more often.

Robert Louis Stevenson was alleged to be able to come up a idea for a novel then go to sleep and his "brownies" would create the whole structure for him, when he woke up he could just write out the novel from memory.
He was tripping on drugs given to him because he was bleeding from the lungs. However he wrote the draft for Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in three days.
I saw it on a program last night >.<
I get story lines from my dreams...
