Ok so I watched this new episode of CSI Miami a few weeks ago, and it almost made me cry!! My fav. character on the show, Eric Delko, got shot in the head! WTF is that?! So I thought for sure they were writing him out. I spent the whole freakin week upset because I was sure there was no more Eric. I mean, who goes back to CSI work after a shot to the noggin?? Sure enough....the next episode - Delko is right on on the field, and his work is suffering. WTF??? Ok, I can see Wolfe coming back after the incident with his eye....visual problems are more easily corrected. But Delko is seeing double, he thinks his sister, Marisol is still alive, and his work is suffering immensely. Anyone else think they have it planned to write Delko out? I think I might cry if they do.

While I personnaly have read and replied to plenty of messages on several message forums, I will reply to this one as well.
If you watch the show for as long as I have, they would never write Delko off unless something major happened to someone else on the team. As I recall he got shot in the leg before the head. He also had surgery done, but they were unable to remove the bullet from the brain. That is the real reason why his work has been suffering.
The way the writers write it and tell it to us fans, Eric is supposed to have short term memory loss and may leave the show for a short time before coming back.
This is how I have answered before, and this is what I am sticking to. I have loved CSI: Miami and cannot ever see the show the same way without beloved Eric.

Thanks for the insight, you're probably right. Eric has been such a strong character for so long, I think if they wrote him out the show might die. But of course, the drama will keep us Delko lovers hanging on for a while longer. I suppose Calleigh is the next one to have some serious drama happen....
Speedle died.
Wolfe got shot in the eye with a nail gun
Alexx was abducted and held hostage during one episode
Horatio's wife (Eric's sister) was killed, along with his brother (or so they are playing at) in the earlier episodes and the drama is forever ongoing with him
Yelina was reunited with Ray after he faked his death
Natalia was the mole
Eric was shot
I think every character except Calleigh has experienced some major event. she must be next.
