...clearly wasn't gold.
The stallion pulled a face as the fish unceremoniously flipped its tail at him and cast a shower of cool water into his eyes. He supposed he deserved it to a point, he had after all been 'fishing' so to speak and his aunt had warned him that they didn't always appreciate the game. But still, hurling water into his face was hardly good sportsmanship!
He shook his head though, there was no point in crying over spilled milk and with a wistful sigh he used his cheek to create a 'wave' of water in retaliation. Given the temperature and weather of the given day, bathing and fishing in the local lake was turning out to be a more pleasurable experience than he anticipated.
...There was just one thing missing.
With the exception of the fish there seemed to be very little life around here and as a social butterfly, he hardly enjoyed that fact.

'What are you doing?' Aishwarya spoke without introductions or even before she'd given a greeting. She'd come across the stallion when she'd headed to the lake to cool down, the temperature being cooler by the water and the setting was a wonderfully peaceful one. After taking a drink, she'd looked around, and after seeing the brown stallion, had felt herself in the mood for company and had wandered over. She'd seen him before he had her, he hadnt seemed to notice her approach and so she'd taken the opportunity to merely watch him. At the splash she'd noticed the flash, the sun glinting off the iridescence of the fish scales and that was when she had decided to speak, curious to know if she'd met the first fishing Soquili or not!

He wasn't the most observant of stallions. Actually, if he was left to his own devices he would be so caught up in his own 'thoughts' that he wouldn't even notice another unless they rammed him into a tree. In truth, he was fairly certain that quite a few individuals would not be beyond doing that, if only to here him 'yelp' in a rather girlish manner but he was not going to squeal this time.
Instead, as the mare spoke up behind him his eyes bugged and he lost his footing. Not the most graceful of stallions, especially as he slipped and unceremoniously dove under the water, only to appear a few seconds later like a drowned rat.
"ACK!" He coughed, spitting up the water as he fought for his footing and stood in the water in a splayed legged fashion - it was only as he clapped eyes on the mare that he thanked his lucky stars she couldn't see such splayed legs.
Nevertheless, at the sight he did promptly brighten up and flashed a rather enthusiastic smile - company and bloody gorgeous company if he didn't say so himself!
"Swimming!" He replied, closing one eye as another fish splashed him with it's fin. "Socialising with the natives - as ye do on such fine days as this." He continued, choosing to refrain from mentioning his 'fishing' as most found it rather...odd.
"Er...Lassy, how long ye been standin' there?" He added a little more sheepishly.

'Are you okay?' Aishwarya looked concerned; she didnt think she had spoken that suddenly, enough to cause such a reaction! She shook water from a hoof and gave a small grin in response to his waterlogged one. 'Ahem..you didnt seem like you were swimming a moment ago.' she said, trying very hard not to laugh at the stallions plight.
'Oh a minute or two,' she replied in an airy fashion. 'Do you need help getting out of there?' her head tilted as she spoke, ears flicking in her amusement.

Well - he brightened up considerably when he saw her attempts to hold back laughter and simply flashed another smile. If anything, he looked rather ridiculous - actually he probably looked a lot less attractive than an otter right now which wasn't a great look. Not that otters were ugly, but their appearance wasn't marred even when it was soaked! Secretly, he was rather curious as to how they did that.
"Help? Good grief lassy!" He looked alarmed and shook his head as he regained his footing and stomped out of the water, knees high to ensure they slapped hard against the rocks below. It was a cautionary measure, enough to guarantee he had grip to get out. However as he did clambered out he immediately regretted it...he looked beyond ridiculous.
Far, far beyond it.
"Ye see," He looked down at his own soggy coat and then released a good natured sigh. "I dinnae think ye'd appreciate getting as wet as I am - If ye'd 'cuse me a few seconds." Well, his uncle had always said that a ridiculous appearance made a stallion endearing but how silly did his uncle mean because he wasn't entirely sure the older stallion had 'drowned rat' in mind.
Walking away from the young mare, he puffed up his cheeks and then with an 'argh' he promptly shook himself. It all became clear why he had distanced himself as a spray of water that could have rivalled a light rain burst off his coat - clearly his fur absorbed it like a sponge...Lucky it just didn't go fluffy like a bears when it dried, he wasn't sure he could live that one down.
"Nor do I think ye would like that much either..." Drifting back towards her he tossed his now soggy curls from his eyes and took the opportunity to glance the mare over. It took all his self restraint to not boggle at her rather exotic coat - instead, he simply allowed his lips to part in appreciation.
"But the concern was appreciated," He added, dragging his eyes back up to her face as he offered a boyish smile, "But I guess ye be wantin' to know who the silly bint is, aye?" He wagged his tail and struck a rather dramatic pose - right knee bent, tail perked and chin held high. A buff of the chest later and he seemed ready to give his introduction.
"I am the magnificent and Kawani renowned, BISCUIT!" He announced, offering a wiggle of his brow in the process, "And it be a pleasure to meet a mighty fine lass like yeself."

'Yes,' she said, but it was evident that he didnt need it and managed to exit the water in as surefooted a way as was possible for their kind. 'I am not a fragile blossom, and I wouldnt hit the high notes if I did get wet..my mane and tail would suffer but I think I could bear it.' She watched him shake himself in a very canine fashion, the droplets raining around him as he did so. When he had finished, and had come closer she saw him appraise her silently. She returned the favour, looking at him with no coyness. 'You are welcome,' she said softly, and then she did laugh out loud at the pose the stallion struck. 'I am very sorry to disappoint, but I havent heard of you.' she wondered if his ego was such that it would be bruised by her admission. She hoped not, and dipped her head in an elegant way. 'I am Aishwarya.'

Biscuit pulled a face and looked genuinely shocked. Well, genuinely would have been a lie, he simply feigned horror had her admittance and then released a quiet 'mew' of hurt. His 'expression' told all, clearly she was exploring the wrong regions if she couldn't recognise him - hadn't heard of HIM.
...Then again, his uncle would remind him that he had hardly gone out and explored the world.
As a result, he simply smiled once more in a wistful fashion and tossed his mane. He promptly stood in a more relaxed position and perked his ears up...well, he had been aiming for a laugh so he could certainly call this a victory could he not? Perhaps now really wasn't the time to tell her that she did look like a fragile flower though would it? She'd probably turn into a maneating plant for all his luck!
"Tis a pleasure to meet ye, Lady Aish...Aish...Aeesh." He paused for a few moments to negotiate the words, an internal dialogue occurring between horse and brain - it would obey him.
"Aiiishwaaaryee..." He furrowed his brow and then released an exasperated sigh, "Ashwaryer." He seemed more satisfied with his last attempt and nodded. Clearly his accent wa not one that could handle her name!

'Isnt it better if I havent heard of you? This is a place where rumours spread like a fire, full of gossipy mares and equally so stallions.' She would have laughed at his expression when she had said she hadnt heard of him, but it probably would have only made him even more dejected. 'I find it best to make my own judgements, without prejudice or tales of infamy.' Aish's brow wrinkled as she listened to his attempts to prounce her name. Winced a little as he mangled it at first and then nodded faintly at the final attempt. If she formed a friendship with him; then maybe he could use her shortening 'Aish'..until then; 'The feeling is mutual,' she said.

"Ashwaryer." He mumbled again, clearly not satisfied with his own attempt. He had run the name through his head and could say it mentally but the tongue was not co-operating. He could only blame it on those who had brought him up - between the eloquent Grencia and the lilt of his aunt and father he had developed a bit of a speech impediment (or rather an accent) that did have it's problems.
...It was an endearing accent though, one of his finest quirks.
"Pfft." He murmured at last, admitting defeat as he canted his head to the side again and offered another of his smiles. Clearly, he wouldn't have been offended if she had laughed again as most things he said, were said in jest. He was not infamous, but in the long term he would certainly like to think he would manage it eventually. After all, it was nearly every stallion's dream to be renowned or well known enough to draw in the crowds - or at least one of the desirable catches of the season. Actually, Biscuit rather thought he would be ecstatic if he pulled off that one so soon, his Uncle clearly thought he wasn't ready.
Nevertheless, casting his thoughts aside he took the opportunity to observe the mare as she held back more laughter. She really was a strange one, not exactly shy but almost uncertain or too cautious to express how she really felt. Granted, some people wouldn't have appreciated the giggles but he had deliberately made a fool of himself.
"Ye know, ye can laugh." He mused at last and wiggled his brows, not quite suggestively but enough to make his expression contort into a rather ridiculous one.
"I dinnae bite, well...not often."

'Please..' she said, giving in and allowing him a fine concession, way earlier then she ever would. 'Just call me Aish okay? Must as I appreciate your attempts to pronounce my name, the mangling does make me flinch..just a little.' Aish blew a wave of mane out of her eyes and then giggled at him. 'I will, when I want to. But I'm not sure a full, braying, head back fit of laughter looks very attractive?' She looked shrewdly at him. 'Do you bite if asked then?' she didnt mean it to sound flirtatious or teasing, but he might interpret it that way. She found herself not caring...he was the third stallion she had met, and she was beginning to wonder if maybe her nature was causing her to stay alone. She treasured peace, contemplation - but she knew that she didnt want to live forever by herself.

Don't gape.
Well he didn't, he blinked instead as though he was attempting to figure out whether or not the mare was serious. Granted, if she was the more playful type he would find her company extremely refreshing but every other mare had been so...shy? It had taken all his manly 'wiles' to break down their barriers and even then they only afforded a shuffle of the feet and a giggle. Yet, while a giggle was nice...
"Oi, I prefer to nibble as opposed to bite." Biscuit's smile became more relaxed and he blew his forelock from his eyes. Given the intensity of the sun's rays it was already beginning to curl again, as it became dry it would develop that 'springy' quality that the two leggers enjoyed tugging at. "After all, a nibble is more ticklish and a laugh is much better than a squeal - even if it is a squeal of surprise." Swivelling his ears round at each sound he then focused on her previous question.
"And clearly ye have met the wrong stallions if you have that mind set." He chirped, flicking his tail against his rump. "I personally prefer a full braying laugh, it's more natural and well -" His eyes twinkled and he wiggled his rump a little more. "It's genuine, ye can't feign that laughter 'cause ye can only do it when you're really happy." He perked up and puffed out his chest.
"For example..." He took a deep breath, lifted his head up and released a rather loud laugh that sounded more like a wierd cackle than anything. "AHAHAHAHA!"
A pause.
"Ye see, it dinnae sound right at all but if I did it when I was 'appy...then ye'd know cause it'd sound different. Aye?"

Had she shocked him? Given his whole attitude she doubted it but he did take a while to speak again. 'So you are an expert nibbler then?' Aishwarya wondered where this conversation was leading..well only one way to figure that out! 'You've nibbled many a mare then, you're not another Casanova?' she spoke with an overly dramatic sigh. She hoped not, it seemed she was either meeting or hearing of those stallions that seemed to make it their job to pursue mares - and nothing else. The one exception seemed to have been Aziraphale so far. 'But I only want to be genuine, and so when I laugh, you will know it.' Her ears flattened a little at the forced laugh. 'I prefer you to do that only when you are happy.' she chuckled softly. 'You sounded a little..crazed.'

"Aye - plays havoc on the throat too." He seemed a little hoarse (to excuse the pun) as he spoke and took a few moments to clear his throat. It was one of those rare instances when he was quiet and many of those who knew him will would have savoured it - if he wasn't chattering idly he was singing. If he wasn't doing either of those two he was usually challenging a raccoon to some obscure race...he never won.
"Casanova?" He looked a tad sheepish and then gave a mild chuckle, shaking his head at her question in reference to 'experience'. In truth, he hadn't nibbled many mares at all, he just spun glorious tales to make them laugh at him - easiest way to light the mood and to make them feel better. They were always so glum.
"Awk no." He mused finally and shook his head, "Unless ye count when I was a foal and nibblin' at me uncle, momma, or...anyone's tail for that matter." He continued, looking a little embarassed by his confession. As a foal he had had a rather unusual quirk, in the sense that he bit tails and was dragged around by his elders.
...Probably not something to be extremely proud of but it usually got a laugh.
"Gives a whole new meaning to the concept of 'tail chasin', aye?"

'Poor thing,' Aishwarya sympathised. When he was quiet she looked around, across the water and she moved a little way, taking a drink, her mane sliding down and pooling a little on the ground. She shook when she straightened and smiled softly at him.
'I am glad. There are too many stallions like that already.' she said and then laughed at the mental image. 'I'm sure you were a very cute little colt,' she teased a little. 'Certainly sounds like you were a hoof-full though.' She moved back away from the waters edge, the mud had gotten a little soft and her hooves had sunk a little. 'You have family that live in these parts then? A big family?'
