It might just turn out to be the best few days of her life. Not only was there an island with pristine beaches for her to explore, but she had been freed from her usual responsibilities. Most of them, anyway. She still had her primary one- Manuel. The last time she'd seen him, though, he had been settled down for a nap after all the stress of being paranoid for the day. That was why she was dismissed now. He had no need for her, which was fine with her.
Mercedes Rodriguez walked along the cluster of duplexes at a leisurely pace, moving on the high heels as easily as a dancer would on their toes. Every step she made exposed a hint of her tanned thigh, and consequently made her feel quite exposed to the elements. She was used to the feeling of looking like a walking piece of meat, though she couldn't say she liked it in the least. What she wasn't accustomed to was this scenery. In the middle of such a tropical area she felt terribly out of place in her jewelry and make-up. There was no one to look at her, though, was there? Maybe the lab-techs or whoever Moreau had said was working around here, but surely they were to absorbed in their work to take the time out to talk with her!
Uncomfortable as she had been feeling here, she planned to try and take advantage of her supposed brief stay at the island. This meant exploring, even if her feet ached badly at the end. But first, lunch. Mercedes was famished. She hadn't eaten anything since the night before, seeing as Manuel was so enthusiastic to be up early at the helicopter. Now, she could have sworn she had spotted a cafeteria coming in...
It wasn't long before she had the aforementioned building in her sights, and was sliding in through one of the doors. Hopefully as Moreau's guest they'd let her eat for free? Otherwise she'd have to wait for her husband to wake up and get hungry...
But it seemed as if hardly anyone was there. No one she could see, anyway. Then again... there was a pretty big buffet right in front of her. Dark eyes glanced around the room, searching for personnel that looked like they were expecting payment. When she saw nothing, Mercedes tentatively picked up a plate and moved along. It seemed as if the buffet had everything -and were those raw steaks?!- yet still she chose to eat light. As if the woman couldn't spare to put a little meat on her bones.
Making her way to what seemed like a promising secluded corner -she planned to eat and leave immediately- Mercedes set her tray down on a table and prepared to slide into one of the chairs. Of course, after she had figured the food was free, she had zoned out again, moving almost as if in a daze. There were other places for her thoughts to dwell; this place seemed empty.

After stopping at the clinic to get his arm bandaged and taken care of, Victor was hungry and the dog attack had left him mentally and physically tired. He never even got a chance to lay out in the sun at the beach because of the attack! and he needed that, leaving him irratated his routine was broken up in such a bad way.
Attacked by a dog on a tropical island with people getting turned into animal mutants. Now there was something he never expected.
Still grumbling to himself, he got to the caferteria and worked the door open, another of his daily struggles but he was getting better at it. Getting the door open then literally flopping inside the cafe, then crawling quickly inside before the door could close on his tail.
The Cafeteria seemed empty enough, and he moved himself over to the food line, grunting as he leaned back, and stood up, hooking his forelegs onto the rail, grabbing a tray and moving down the line, grabbing what he wanted for food, not even realizing Mercedes was even there as he grabbed himself some steak and smashed potato

Mercedes took a seat, idly arranging her dress around her legs with one hand while the other plucked up a fork. The greens on her plate were prodded at idly. She was just about to sink her teeth into a baby tomato when the doors to the cafeteria folded in. So there were others here? Her back was to the entrance, however, and after she'd removed the tomato from the fork, she turned her head.
By then Victor was at the buffet, helping himself. It was lucky that she had something else in her mouth, for her teeth slammed down upon sight of him, sending juice gushing from the tiny fruit between them. It. What the hell was it?! At first, she thought she was seeing things. After all, who wants to believe a multi-legged lizard just crawled in and helps itself to a buffet?
But when Victor didn't disappear after a few blinks, the woman almost choked on her food in quite an unbecoming way. Lifting her hand to both muffle a whimper and spit the thing out before she killed herself, the woman could only gape at the moment. Was this a side-effect from that injection? She knew she had begun to feel a little drowsy, but...
"D-Dios mio..." As soon as the words left her mouth, she regretted them, sinking into her chair. Sorry, Mercedes. Even you aren't thin enough to just slide under the table.

Victor heard the noise from in back of him and reflexively turned his head to see where it came from, almost immedately regretting it the moment after, cringing as he saw it was a woman, a nice looking one at that, but comepletely unchanged and sinking into her chair. Why did it have to be him? She was already visibly shocked by his appearance.
"Don't worry, Not going to hurt you or anything, Jussst relaxs..." Victor said as he dropped down off the rail he was hanging on, forgetting his tray of food for now as he moved over closer towards the lady, keeping his head tilted down as he leaned up on a table. "Whatever they told you wasss a lie"

Oh God. It was looking at her.
The cringe was mistaken as a sort of leer from her vantage point, and all her stringy muscles tightened almost into an immovable state. It had seen her, and now it was crawling down from the bar... towards her.
Fabrication or not, Mercedes couldn't help it- she screamed. Her body twisted in her chair, not caring at all what her dress was doing as she pushed herself up. Her hands grasped the table in a choke-hold as she fought to maintain balance on her high heeled shoes. Eyes wide with fright, she moved around so that her table was between him and her, though she was closer now to the corner.
He was speaking, but it only seemed to scare her more, watching how that lizard-like maw spat out words it shouldn't know, and how another set of jaws seemed to be waggling at his throat as he moved. It was far too much for her to handle.
"¡Conseguir lejos de mí!" She yelled at him, reaching over to brandish her fork. "Monster! Monster! Get back!" And it was trying to tell her to calm down. What? So it could eat her peacefully, eh?! Why raid that buffet if there was fresh meat right here? Even now, Mercedes' eyes flickered between Victor and the exit. If she was fast enough....

Victor's eyes widened when Mercedes started to shout at him in english and spainish, calling him a monster and waving a fork at him to ward him off. The Lizardman moved back, stumbling onto the floor, backing up to try and give the woman some room, but inadvertainly getting between the frightened woman and the door.
"I'm not a Monssster! Lisssten to me, put the fork down ssso we can talk about thisss!"

She didn't feel too much better when he backed off. Now he was blocking her way out.
The Spaniard was visibly quivering, the wobbling fork in her hand wobbling. She tried to glare at Victor, yet she was so scared it lost a lot of its power. "I no listening to you, lagarto feo! Stay away from me! I'm not your food!" A tanned hand reached over, picking up the plate she'd planned on eating.
"You want food? Take it!" She almost sobbed, flinging the plate and the salad on it at him in hopes to scare whatever it was off. The fork followed it and the woman reached for her tray. She was going to make a run for it if she could.

"I don't want your... ACK!" Victor shouted as Mercedes flung the plate with the salad at him, he was able to get his foreleg up to protect his face, the plate striking the limb painfully, causing salad to spill all out over his head while the plate shattered on the floor. The lizardman backed up more, leaving a little room for Mercedes to get by him, but he just didn't want to get hit with anything else
"I'm not going to eat you!"

"Sure sure... just kill me, though, eh? Eh? Well I no gonna die, feo! I gonna-" Noticing the opening made, Mercedes darted forward quickly. The tray was swung menacingly at Victor as she passed, as if it'd ward him off if he really wanted to get at her. Yes, she was going to make this out alive! She was going to just run back to the duplex and hide for the rest of their stay! Of course Manuel wouldn't believe her if she told him. He didn't have to know, though. So long as they were safe inside... Or at least she was safe inside...
Heels are not for running. Heels are for standing, strutting, and for making things look tighter and more pushed up than they normally were. Even Mercedes, experienced in the shoes from days she didn't care to remember anymore, could not manipulate them this time. Feet sliding on the tile, she tripped and fell face-forward with a rather undignified screech. Much to her dismay, the tray was lost from her grip, flinging out in an unknown direction. She was horrified. There was nothing left for her to defend herself with. The Spaniard screamed again, attempting to crawl under a table away from the lizard man.
"Someone HELP! HELP ME!"

"Not going to do anything to you!" Victor shouted as he had to duck his head and move to the side to avoid getting hit with the lunch tray. This was quickly becoming frustrating and annoying for him. He turned around just in time to see Mercedes go down in a heap, slipping on the floortiles. Victor sat there, watching the spanish lady scream at him once again, and crawl under a table, shouting for help.
"Damnit lady!" The lizardman cursed under his breath and crawled away from Mercedes. If she wanted to scream and runaround not listening to people fine...she could learn the truth from someone else. He crawled his way back towards the foodline, giving Mercedes plenty of room to get out the front door.
"Well Go on! Runaway before the Monssster Eats You! Run!" He shouted again sarcasticly, waving his limbs around menacingly, kicking a piece of broken plate, glaring at the woman that had thrown the plate at him

At his yelling at her, Mercedes instinctively paused, shrinking a bit farther under her table. Her dark eyes narrowed at him, even when he was moving away. It wasn't a trick, right? He was letting her go? Well, she'd certainly done a good job of being obnoxious enough for him to lose interest!
The display of anger and sarcasm did little. If he thought she was going to stick around and feel sorry, he was wrong. To her, he was a monster, and she'd just narrowly escaped his clutched. Sliding her shoes off, the tanned woman slid out from beneath the table and darted, barefoot, for the door. Even when she shoved it open, she didn't look back. Hardly even looking where she was going, she ran back towards her duplex.

Victor gave a snort though his nose as he watched the woman run out the door, grumbling to himself as he went back to his tray of food, and managed to get it to a table to eat. "good riddance" Victor said to no one, digging into his food to eat alone.
