I watched the trailer on youtube, it’s hard to get much from a 2 minute trailer but from what I saw the Transformers looked rad and it has that LaBeef kid in it. Michael Bay is the director witch tells me two things immediately about Transformers, there is going to be a car case scene with lots of explosions and the story as well as the human characters are going to be kind of weak. Although I don’t how even Bay could screw this one up all he needs to have the Autobots and Deceptacons kick the metal out of each other for 2 hrs or so, mixed with a near summer release date and Transformers the movie is a summer blockbuster.
I am sure the Transformers hardcore will be far more nit picky than I, I don’t have much wrapped up in the Transformers in terms of fandom so I have low to no expectations of what a Transformers live action movie should be.

I'm affraid of this movie. I've seen 3 different trailers for it already, and they all worry me.
Trailer 1: mars lander teaser Looks like someone's sold the idea but has no script yet.
Trailer 2: Metal Massacre helicopter has no pilot. brief flashes of metal twisting and peeling on a highway, twirly scorponoch(?), big robot feet "sneaking" behind a little girl.
Trailer 3: Extended Trailer 2 same thing, but longer.
The way the trailers portray the movie, looks like an old monster movie, but with robots branded with Hasbro's Transformers License.
What I'm hoping and praying for is that the script has been written by someone who at least knew what Autobots and Decepticons are. I fear another Hollywood Street Fighter "we didn't know what the F those characters were, we just made an F-ing movie, dammit"
So when I watch that movie in theaters... I hope I leave happy.

*nods* Well at least one actor knows what he's doing. They got the right guy playing Optimus, he should have a magor impact.
I run the Transformers Guild here, but I've kept myself from reading what my Guild has said about the movie cause we're of course all hard core fans.

I saw the movie and i have to say it's was good. lots of funny, it was like 50% action and 50% comedy. My favorite character in the movie was the section 7 agent Simmons played by John Turturro, he had some really great one liners.

It turned out to be a great movie biggrin . I felt like I was 4 or 5 years old in the movie theater. Needless to say, there's a spot in my dvd collection reserved for it as soon as it's released.

I thought it was OK. Needed more TF time, though. And what's with the shaky camera bit during the fight scenes? Or the pointless government conspiracy?
Spoiler: And who kills Jazz? I liked him! [End spoiler]
So, not bad, but that spot in my heart is still taken up by the 80's movie, warts and all.
