Cat Goddess for the Gender-confused Soul

User Image

Full Name: Sarah Torrica
Age: 8
Personality: When she is under her Raymond identity, she is nothing but a punk with a nasty mouth (Seriously, '********' and 's**t' is his entire vocabulary. XD), but under her original identity, she a very shy-natured girl.

Background: Ginger and Toby Torrica had always wanted a boy so they could afford to send him to the cheaper private school for boys. When they had Sarah, however, they did not try to save their money for another private school; they instead disguised Sarah as a boy, giving her the sidename "Raymond". The parents got her into the habit of wrapping her chest so no one would notice if she started developing breasts early- their planning ahead pulled off. A few days after her first day of school, she experienced her first 'monthly cycle'. Afterwards, she began to go through puberty. (Much like the Youngest Mother ) When the Schoolboard asked why she had such a figure, Sarah's parents blamed the girlish figure on Klinefelter's Syndrome. A few years later, the girl was used to her Raymond identity, and started believing it was her original identity. Sarah started hanging out with a group of delinquent boys known as the "Spider Gang", and became a respected member of that group.

((Excerpt from a failed attempt at a story contest))

The young boy found himself pressed against his door as an overwhelming darkness crept closer to him, engulfing him in the black depths.

"Our little kitten is scared." Said a voice, harsh and worn voice from the darkness.
"Too bad." Another voice whispered lustfully. "We're going to do so much for her..."

"Her...?" The boy echoed. Sure, he looked like a girl, but he wasn't one... Was he? He remembered once hearing his mother sobbing in the warm living room, crying about a girl named Sarah being her daughter, and that they had changed her... But was it him? They always called him Raymond.

"I hear they've gone and renamed her- turned her into a man." The mean voice hissed to her companion.
"I know..." The voice turned it's murmer to him. "I've heard your parents call you Raymond, little kitten... Is it true?"
Ray stood still, his mouth agape at the question. "Uhh... Yes... That's my... N-name..."

"Nonsense!" The other voice growled. "You aren't a man, you're our kitten! Shaped as a warrior by our desires!"

His head jolted to the voice, his eyes wide in shock. Warrior?

"Now now, Bast." Said the sweet voice. "She's not aware of her potential... Not yet."
(More to come in a bit. XD)

Bast in Mythology

In Egyptian mythology, Bast (also spelled Bastet, Ubasti, and Pasht) is an ancient goddess, worshipped at least since the Second Dynasty. The centre of her cult was in Per-Bast (Bubastis in Greek), which was named after her. Originally she was viewed as the protector goddess of Lower Egypt, and consequently depicted as a fierce lion. Indeed, her name means (female) devourer. As protectress, she was seen as defender of the pharaoh, and consequently of the chief god, Ra, who was a solar deity, gaining her the titles Lady of Flame and Eye of Ra. Bast was originally a goddess of the sun, but later changed by the Greeks to a goddess of the moon. In Greek mythology, Bast is also known as Aelurus.

Later scribes sometimes named her Bastet, a variation on Bast consisting of an additional feminine suffix to the one already present, thought to have been added to emphasise pronunciation. Since Bastet would literally mean (female) of the ointment jar, Bast gradually became thought of as the goddess of perfumes, earning the title perfumed protector. In connection with this, when Anubis became the god of embalming, Bast, as goddess of ointment, came to be regarded as his mother, although this association was broken in later years, when Anubis became Nephthys' son.

This gentler characteristic, of Bast as goddess of perfumes, together with Lower Egypt's loss in the wars between Upper & Lower Egypt, led to a decrease in her ferocity. Thus, by the Middle Kingdom she was generally regarded as a domestic cat rather than a lionness. Occasionally, however, she was depicted holding a lionness mask, which hinted at suppressed ferocity. Because domestic cats tend to be tender and protective toward their offspring, Bast was also regarded as a good mother, and she was sometimes depicted with numerous kittens. Consequently, a woman who wanted children sometimes wore an amulet showing the goddess with kittens, the number of which indicated her own desired number of children.

Due to the severe disaster to the food supply that could be caused by simple vermin such as mice and rats, and their ability to fight and kill snakes, especially cobras, cats in Egypt were revered heavily, sometimes being given golden jewelry to wear, and being allowed to eat from the same plates as their owners. Consequently, as the main cat (rather than lion) deity, Bast was strongly revered as the patron of cats, and thus it was in the temple at Per-Bast that dead (and mummified) cats were brought for burial. Over 300,000 mummified cats were discovered when Bast's temple at Per-Bast was excavated.

As a cat/lion goddess, and protector of the lands, when, during the New Kingdom, the fierce lion god Maahes became part of Egyptian mythology, she was identified, in the Lower Kingdom, as his mother. This paralleled the identification of the fierce lion goddess Sekhmet, as his mother in the Upper Kingdom.

As divine mother, and more especially as protectress, for Lower Egypt, she became strongly associated with Wadjet, the patron goddess of Lower Egypt, eventually becoming Wadjet-Bast, paralleling the similar pair of patron (Nekhbet) and lioness protector (Sekhmet) for Upper Egypt. Eventually, her position as patron and protector of Lower Egypt, lead to her being identified as the more substantial goddess Mut, whose cult had risen to power with that of Amun, and eventually being absorbed into her as Mut-Wadjet-Bast. Shortly after, Mut also absorbed the identities of the Sekhmet-Nekhbet pairing as well.

This merging of identities of similar goddesses has lead to considerable confusion, leading to some associating things such as the title Mistress of the Sistrum (more properly belonging to Hathor, who had become thought of as an aspect of Isis, as had Mut), and the idea of her as a lunar goddess (more properly an attribute of Mut). Indeed, much of this confusion occurred to subsequent generations, as the identities slowly merged, leading to the Greeks, who sometimes named her Ailuros (Greek for cat), thinking of Bast as a version of Artemis, their own moon goddess. And thus, to fit their own cosmology, to the Greeks, Bast was thought of as the sister of Horus, who they identified as Apollo (Artemis' brother), and consequently the daughter of Isis and Osiris.

Bast(Bastet, Ubasti) Egyptian cat goddess. A goddess of the home and of the domestic cat, although she sometimes took on the war-like aspect of a lioness. Daughter of the sun god Re, although sometimes regarded As the daughter of Amun.Wife of Ptah and mother of the lion-god Mihos. Her cult was centered on her sanctuary at Bubastis in the delta region, where a necropolis has been found containing mummifiied cats. Bast was also associated with the eye of Re' acting as the instrument of the sun god's vengeance. She was depicted as a cat or in human form with the head of a cat, often holding the sacred rattle known as the sistrum.

Sarah's abilities
Sarah, being a godling of a goddess of perfume, will have a pleasant scent following her. As she develops, her scent will change as the person who can smell her will smell their favorite scent.

She will have the ability to attract many cats around her.

She will gain the ability to be able to morph into an actual full-length Abyssinian cat or African Lion based on her emotions, but she won't gain the ability to control when she changes until later.

Pure anger and tiring at night will turn her into a Lioness (A lion cub at the newbie stage), and love, bliss, or tiring in the daytime will turn her into an Abyssinian.

She will not turn fully antrho, but she will have the head and claws of an Abyssinian, growing fur near those respective areas.

Prompt Challenge!
(Yeah, your heard me. :B)

This challenge is to (of course) to answer every prompt in any of the events so far. At the moment, there are four. The challenge was made to become used to roleplaying with your characters and their gods/goddesses, and to use the abilities you mention in them so people won't be confused. xD

So far, I have one. :3

Prompt A from the First flatsale
Your character has just made their first "kill" in The Game. (Either literally or figuratively. Either way, their opponent is out of the game.) What is their reaction? Why did they do it and how? What are they doing now? What about state of mind?

The foul stench and sight of blood filled the night skies as it sighed a meloncholy breeze on Sarah Torrica. The only sign of response from her was the grin and eyes of a child possessed by a monster.
"Now, little kitten..." Said the lioness Bast, grinning ear to ear in both mind and possessed body. "You are ready for the Game."
"What do you mean? You killed him just for-"
"You killed him. You wished for him to go away and I... Showed you how to get rid of him..."
The vicious smirk faded, replaced with an expression of pure horror. For the first time in sould mind and body, Sarah's eyes fell on a mamed corpse. She tried to shield her eyes from the boy, from his blank, ghostly eyes that might have been full of hope- childish and innocent like hers once were- but the damage was dealt, and the image burned into her mind like the lit bonfires of the homeless in Downers. She tried to cover her nose to escape the stench of the blood, but it had already scorched a familiarity in her brain. She tried to wipe away the blood on her hands, which Bast had used to show her how to carve through a godling with her claws, but it had stained.
"This boy attacked you, why do you show sympathy?"
Sarah stared blankly, not responding.
"Answer me, Kitten!" Bast roared.
"I just..." Sarah paused, reminding herself that the godling tried to kill her first. "I'm just not used to seeing it, I guess."
She knew it would be the last time she would pity anyone killed by her or Bast- it was kill or be killed in the Game. She knew that many players, mybe even herself, would be slaughtered in hopes of one person being able to win and bend the world to thier will.
