It was a rotten day. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the Jungle was quiet.. however, that didn't make much difference to one leopardess. No, it only amplified her fury and disgust. Mleli was in a fine situation after her last encounter with a lion. A god. A fake-leopard. If that wasn't enough, she knew now that she was in for a constant reminder of whatever stupid point Limbuko had been trying to make.

Mleli was spending her day, grouchy once again with an added touch of hormonal, in a small pool fed by a stream that was near her home. It was connected to the stream where she'd met the god, but part of her hoped that he would show up. He'd won the first round, but she was ready for the second. The leopardess had waded out into the cool water, let it come to just below covering her back. There she stood quiet and still, watching any fish that swam by very carefully.

A black and mocha colored leopardess padded along side a stream, her paws pressing firmly into the soft earth. She thoroughly enjoyed the birds singing and even started to hum her own little tune along with them.

"ho hum..he dum..do..Miss Ajali, I believe you have the best singing voice around!" She giggled allowed happily and her pace was quickened with her mood. In her excitement she hadn't realized she was nearing the body of water that Mleli was relaxing--if you could call it that in. And she tumbled haphazardly into the shallow end.

"Unf!"

Mleli could hear a vaguely familiar voice singing, and coming closer, long before she could see any such being. Already grouchy, the leopardess rolled her eyes a bit and refused to look around until she heard a splash in the waters edge. This prompted her to turn her head, and she was mildly surprised to find her sister in the water with her.

"Ajali," she greeted her, surprisingly. No point pretending she wasn't there, though this would be interesting if she stepped out of the water. Mleli glanced back at the water, vaguely wondering if it'd be easier just to drown herself.

Finding her barrings and looking up Ajali's heart fluttered, "Dear sister! How long has it been?" She purred. How long had it been? They were juveniles just growing into their teenage years...but it seemed much longer than that, surely they were not /that/ old?!

Sitting up she shook her coat trying to free some of the water from her fur. She cocked her head to one side and smiled at her sister goofily, "And what has Miss Grouch been up too?" she wagged her tail back and forth slightly through the water.

Mleli might have been happy to see her sister under any other circumstances, but with her hormones playing with her head and her mood as foul as could be she was in no mood for such a sickeningly sweet and happy leopard at the moment.

"Not long enough," she grumbled, though not quite loud enough to be made out clearly. That said, she sighed and rolled her eyes, "Quite some time, I would say."

She paused a moment when Ajali asked what she'd been up to, and chose not to answer, "What have you been up to? How long did you stay with the others?"

"What was that?" she paused, "Ah, ah, ah I asked you first!" she joked, but remembered her sister's temper and decided it was best to answer.

"Oh I've been here, I've been there, mostly in the land of the lions. I left a little after you did, I was hoping to meet up with you..but as you know I cannot track very well." She snickered.

"But, I've found you now, and I wont loose you again!" her cheerful tone was sickeningly sweet such a great contrast to the hormonal feline.

Mleli visible flinched, and even growled quietly at the mention of being in the land of lions. It was very clear from her reaction that whatever dislike she'd had for lions as a youth had amplified over time- and why not? She felt she had a damned good reason now. Stupid lion-gods trying to make a point.

When Ajali declared they would be sticking together from now on, she simply stared. Again, her mood was preventing the reaction she might have gotten normally. Had she not been pregnant, even, she might be more accepting. Of course, she might have just been humoring her sister then but she wouldn't be so grumpy.

"Oh really? Are you sure you wouldn't prefer to go off on your own merry way?" she asked coldly, half expecting her sister to prefer the company of more cheerful creatures, if nothing else.

Ajali flinched at her sister's reaction to what she had said, had she been that ashamed of her dark furred sister? Her reaction must be from that...then again Mleli had always disliked lions, but just by mentioning it?

"Family has to stay with family, but if you would like me to leave," her cheerful demeanor vanished quickly and a frown replaced it. She'd searched for a long time after Mleli had left and when she gave up she finally found her.

Mleli watched her sister switch from bright and cheery to frowny, something she'd always disliked and that persisted even while she was in her cranky hormonal stage. She rolled her eyes, and turned her body to face her sister better.

"Don't be like that," she snapped, "If you want to stay, then you can. But you should know what you're getting yourself into." Her voice was a bit snarly, clearly they were coming to why she was so very angry at the moment. Wearin a scowl, Mleli walked calmy out of the water and onto the shore. Without the water to hide beneath, her bulging belly became quite obvious and her distaste for it quite obvious in her expression. Her steel blue eyes stayed on her sister, and she just let the water from the stream drip from her fur.

Her frown never moved as she watched her sister emerge from the water her dark eyes fixed on the buldging belly. She was not dumb or slow by any means and knew instantly that her sister was pregnant, quite obviously. But why was Mleli so sad? Shouldn't she be happy to be a mother? She'd been cranky in their youth, but surely this would kick that out of her.

"Mleli, you're pregnant," she stated the obvious, "You're not.. I mean, aren't you happy?"

Mleli stood there, scowling and dripping as her sister pointed out the obvious and asked one of the stupidest questions imaginable. She managed to check her anger, though- it was not Ajali's fault she did not know what was going on.

"The father is a lion," she said simply in a growling tone.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 06, 2007 6:39 pm

"I see," she replied cooly and she strod up beside Mleli, "Is he going to stay around..? Will you need help?" Her eyes drifted from the tan and white leopardess' face and back to the buldging belly.

Is it possible for a leopard to have lion cubs? She'd never seen a hybrid of any sort before, lions were lions, were lions. and leopards were well--Leopards!

Mleli kept a steady gaze on her sister, even when she replied in such a cool tone. The question that she asked drew a rather cruel laugh from the leopardess, though the harshness was at herself and her situation and not at her sister for asking. Assuming the lion was sticking around meant one assumed she had chosen such a mate and brought this upon herself. Perhaps some could argue that she had, but certainly she would never think or admit it.

"No, and even if he tried I wouldn't let the rapist anywhere near my cubs," she said sharply, clearly still angry about what happened, "Half lion or not, they're much better than him."

Mleli too had been surprised when it became undeniable that she was pregnant, until she recalled Kujack and how he was a father with a lioness for a mate.

"Certainly not, anyone who could..." A twinkle of guilt for asking so many hurtful questions shone in her eyes. What would Ajali do if something like that happened to her being raped by a cruel lion and left with its spawn. She liked lions but could not stand the thought of taking one as her mate.

"I will be here, through everything if you want, cranky or not, you are my family, my only family."

She added a jerking nod that made that fact seemingly set in stone. She was not going to go anywhere, she wanted to see too it that her neice or nephew or possibly more than one was being taken care of the best way possible. Mleli may not be in the right frame of mine to take care and be gentle to half lions.

Mleli kept her stony gaze on Ajali as she slowly stopped asking questions about how she'd found herself in this state, and was glad for it. The less anyone knew about this, the better. It wasn't even like she was lying.

"If you want to," she answered, "At least now you know what you'd be getting into."
