very nice. Only comment:The eyes don't seem to be reacting to how open the mouth is. The eye's maybe should be closed more, to represent to wrinkles on the nose that would occur from the mouth being opened.

Thanks biggrin I know what you mean, with that.. my sheltie does that all the time.. I used one of my puppy as a model for him.. Tonto, he reminds me alot of toboe, but he's the wrong color.. he gets that expression alot, and usually his eyes are wide looking at you.. I wanted to catch Toboe sorta bright eyed and smiling.. mrgreen here, found a pic for a example.. Here's Tonto smiling, it's not the exact pose.. but it shows... I have Toboe's head up more in my drawing.. smile

*first cries tears of joy becuase it Toboe, one of her favorite characters eva*
*next marvels at the realism*
Well, I don't do realism much, but I think, hmm..*tilts head*, I think it has to do with the change in angle. I think the eyes are still looking more at the viewer from an angle that's more like your photogrpah (of your dog), yet Toboe's snout's a bit father up and pointing directly at the viewer more (in the real picture, the dog's nose is down more, pointing more towards the ground). The change is a litle inconsistent, and his ears could be a bit further back on his head (think of a 3-d circle with lines on it? Hmm, dunno..that's for cartoons...), and maybe a bit fuller all around his face and down his mane (his facial features seem just a tad out of porportion). At least, I think that's what I'm seeing...
It's rather suttle, really (the change in angle), but it may just be what's giving a slight flat feel to Toboe's face that some people are picking up on. Just a suggestion for next time...it's still a nifty-picture and deserves giving much praise for you to devour ^_^. Kudos on the realism (especially the wetness and softness of the mouth and nose, and the eyes...they're beautiful)! Please don't hate me for critisizing, I'm just trying to help an already awesome artist!

Please don't hate me for critisizing, I'm just trying to help an already awesome artist! Hey thanks!! I see what you mean when I look at it now.. when I stare at a pic to long while drawing it..I get to where I know there is something wrong, and I just make it worse by trying to fix it.. I usually got to take a break, and this one I needed to do in one night as a gift for a friend. . I was going more for a different angle then that pic, I'll add another pic here that's closer to it.. (love digital cameras, so much quicker to get a pic up! ) .. I usually just go by him sitting here staring at me.. and he moves way to much for that.. smile I do need to fix his whiskers, near the end of the drawing I was in a bit of a rush.. I'm really glad you liked the realism! I don't hate you for critisizing me, I always see it as helpful! As I said you go blind to your mistakes, and just can't figure it out.. but knows it's there. when you stare at it to long after drawing it! besides that I'm usually my own worse critic.. wink I'm already onto another pic which I need to get done, with two puppets on top of that.. lol.. someday, i'll get back to fighting with this pic.. I'll fix the whiskers.. and try to figure out how to fix the eyes.. wink I like Toboe alot too, he reminds me of Tonto in to many ways.. Tonto also gets attacked by the birds over his food.. and has alot of the same behavoirs as toboe, I thought Kawamoto did really good in capturing wolves actions! here's that pic that is closer to the pic above.. then the last pic I took..

I think it looks great... well the ears look a little short, but that's just me. I'm use to big floppy ears on my animals. blaugh

How did you do the mouth and tongue. They look VERy nice in my humble opinion, almost like a photo would.

Nice portrait! Lovely indirect lighting, wonderful texture. Compositionally sound. Great work.
Hey, looks like some people are not familiar with dogs here. I can tell you from raising several breeds in my lifetime that there's no problem with the anatomy. Obviously digitaly enhanced for the final version. What did you use to make it?
