Any one else not like shopping at EB? The closest EB to me is full of rude people, I've heard them bad mouthing customers and stuff while they are standing around behind the desk. They also don't seem to want to help you at all. Plus the store is often unorganized. I've gone up to the counter and they look through their bins of disks, just to find they don't actually have that game any more mad

Personally, I'd rather go to Game Crazy or Game Stop. I've had way better experiences with the clerks and game-buying. Clerks that know their games and actually want to help you with buying yours.

So please share your stories of bad clerks and such, I would love to hear them 3nodding

I'm pretty good friends with the manager of my local EB, so I'm biased.
EB is the BUSIEST, smallest game provider in my local mall, and yeah, they deal with a metric ******** of morons every day. After awhile, the whole 'how can I help you' facade degrades into an attitude of 'you're all morons and you wont listen to me anyways, I wont even bother.'
I can understand why they act the way they do and I understand the crap they have to put up with, so its okay with me that the answers they give me are short and simple, they're far too busy. When its quiet, they're happy to chat and answer all your questions.

That said, when it comes right down to it, its a corporation. You can see it everywhere- the edge cards, the displays, the constant stream of marketing strategies paraded in gaudy banners around the store. These people are here to squeeze every last penny out of you.
Being a video game salesman is not hard. The games sell themselves. They know that if you have a question, you'll come up to the desk and ask. They wont hound you like someone at Future Shop. If you're in a game store, you're expected to know what you're looking for. You're not buying a TV or a new car, there arent mounds of questions to be asked about gas mileage or payment plans.

And if a clerk doesnt know every single thing about every single game, let them be. They're only human.
Also, its common for stores to run out of things. If you've ever worked in any kind of retail or grocery store at all, ever, you wouldnt have a problem with it because honestly, if they dont have it, they dont have it. They cant magically whisk it up out of thin air. More copies will be back in a few weeks, and if they wont, you can always ask them to call you when they see a copy floating around.

Also, if you dont like a store, dont QQ about it xD Just go somewhere else.

Its sad though that my local store does the oppersite of the above poster. Only one of them plays games and the others you feel that they are there for the money.

Im sorry but after my experiences with them i don't like them much. I rather go to "Next Level"

I go to Gamestop over EB, but that's simply because one of the managers at the EB has a thing for me and I don't want to encourage it. Nice guy, just not interested. But when I did go there, they were always very nice to me and informative. My one pet peeve about having to go to Gamestop over EB is that the guys at Gamestop have to recite the strategy guide policy to me every single time I go in there, and I'm in there pretty often.

I know the manager at my local EB games store, he's a good guy and he knows his stuff so I usualy get what I'm after there.

But I really like my game exchange, I know a guy who works there and he is really cool! He is verry random in what he does, like if he is playing a game and is really good at it he usualy says "if you can beat me at this I'll give you a free rental".

I live in a small town full of closet gamers, so if people at the game stores aren't good then they don't get costomers. EVER!

The only really bad story I have is not really from a gamer store. I went to Best buy (( my parents had to go there anyways and I had a gift card )) So I went looking at their game department for Disgaia 2, it came out a few months ago and I had just gotten through the first one, so I go to the counter and ask for some help. They sent me to a desk at the game department and told me to find someone, after about tewnty minutes of looking around for someone I find a person who opens up the data base. Once he finaly finds the game in the data base he tells me the game comes out next tuseday!!! Later that day I check out the local game crazy and get it there.... needless to say no more Best buy for me!

Where i live, EB games and Gamestop are combined into one. It is called both and they arent very nice. This one guy at the one i live down the street from wouldnt let me buy a mature rated game because i didnt have my drivers license on me but i had my student id card. My DOB isnt on my student id card...only my grade is so he said i couldnt prove i was 17. I had to drive back to my house and get my drivers license even though he could blatantly see that i WAS DRIVING with people in the car and that means you have to be 17. Yeah so i was pretty pissed and practically threw my id at him. He was the manager too. a*****e. I told him that he should take out the power cord stuck up his a**.

I like Gamestop better our neighbor hood dosent have a Game raxy anymore. We have 2 gamestops close to each other well 1 in our mall, another attached to our barnes and nobles and one in our hood. I personally like to goto gamestp better because as you said they know thier games. One of them even knew about battle revolution for the wii( I'm getting the game :3) and they are very nice, even if you bother alot about where a game is. They always smile. And all of the employies I know all are very very very good at gaming.

For some reason, I've always liked GameStop better. We have an EB Games and a GameStop in our mall (though the EB Games is closing at the end of the month) Everytime I've gone in EB Games though, I don't know...it's just a weird feeling. It doesn't feel very welcoming. I love the GameStop I go to. I love it so much I got a job there lmao The employees at GameStop though are always friendly and I got to know alot of them on a first name basis before I was hired.

I agre, I've had far better experiences at GameStop than EB, even if they are the same company really. The last time I was at EB, I bought 3 games, one of which was slightly older, and I admit, slightly odd next to the other two. However, the employee at the desk proceeded to badmouth the game and me for wanting to play it. Excuse me?! Aren't you trying to SELL games here? Not keep them on the shelves and badmouth customers? Errr.

GameStop however seems to hire friendlier, more knowledgeable, and likable employees. Go figure.

I have a few EB games near my house.. well more precise where I work at...

The one I normally go too, I have decent service. The manager is nice, and he seems to know a lot about the games. He always gives me some good advice when I go in there to see what's new. There was a girl that that was freakin' awesome, she gave my sister and myself free stuff when we went there. She transfered though... it was a sad day.

Another one that's close to my job actually isn't so bad, but they don't seem to really care if you're a customer or not. I walked in, and asked for a walkthrough for a game, and the guy goes into the back room, comes back 2 minutes later. I was like 'WTF? Did you even look!?'

I'd LOVE to work at a game store XD I'd be happy going in every day and telling people which games are awesome and which ones suck

First off...EB is now owned by Game Stop. So if EB sucks...Game Stop is just as bad.

Second thing....just because you had a bad experience at one store it does not mean all the rest of them are the same. I shop at EB more than any other game store. In fact, that is the only place my dad goes to buy games and stuff. He knows most of the people that work there. Most of them are very helpful and have a good sense of humor.

Third....EB is more organized than a lot of stores I have been to....they keep their games organized on seperate, big racks, and only stack similar games on each other, unlike Game Crazy where you have to flip though their racks of unorganized games to find what you want....BUT like I said before...not all EB stores are the same...neither are all Game Crazy Stores.

Fourth...it is all about opinion, location, and how often you shop there....

All in all, Play N Trade is the best game store I have been to...EVER. I have yet to shop there, but I have been there for a Halo 3 tourney, and once to browse.

Not only do they stay active with plenty of Videogame tournaments and events, but they offer CASH for your game trade-ins, unlike other stores who give you store credit. They also give a 10% military discount [for those of you who know a perso in the military]

Though....I do not know if Play N Trade is local or if it is national....maybe I'll look into it.
