Chakras are energy centers throughout the body that act as transducers (and, yes to all...that is a word razz ) in the aura. They are seen as spinning wheels of energy in their own locations. Opening these centers helps the energy flow more fluidly in your aura and mind and helps to activate abilities. You can do the above meditation sequence and instead of concentrating on your third-eye, this time concentrate on opening these centers. Some envision them as balls of energy while others envision them as blooming roses of the corresponding colors. The possibilities are endless. Use whatever you are most comfortable with. All you have to do is envision these centers awakening and opening while glowing with the corresponding colors. Start with the root chakra. This is located at the perineum. This is the spot between the a**s and the genitals. The root chakra is RED. Next is the belly chakra, located just below the navel. It's color is ORANGE. Moving up is the Solar Plexus chakra. This is located at a bundle of nerves just below the chest bone and above the navel. The color for the Solar Plexus is YELLOW. The Heart chakra is based in the middle of the chest/slightly to the left side and it's color is GREEN (sometimes with a pink circle in it, though this is not traditional). Next comes the throat chakra which is at the throat and is colored BLUE. Next to last is the Third-eye chakra...located at the third-eye and colored PURPLE. The final chakra is the crown chakra, located at the top of the head and in the color of WHITE. When all seven of these centers are aligned and activated, you will eventually notice a difference. I would suggest doing this excercise at least once a day for a month or more. Afterward, move down to once a week or once a month.

Generally these minor ones end up being called 'chi' because they tend to move around so much between our other main chakras like the Asian Chi does.

Most people only recognize the main 7 as well as points at the hands and feet. But those who do more indepth study recognize there are more and how they affect the body

My method for energising and strengthening chakras goes like this: I visualise coloured laser beams passing through each chakra. It proceeds in ascending order. The Base/root chakra is red, so a red beam goes through said chakra. and orange one passes through the sacral chakra and ad yellow one goes through the Solar Plexus. You get the idea. I do this before each meditation or astral travel attempt.

If you are doing exercises like that, make sure you remember to protect them as well. Once you open a chakra, it is possible to draw in energies you don't want, or leave you extra sensitive to your suroundings and the emotions of other people.

I read this in a book I have as well...they call it blown chakras which sounds really horrible and more than a little traumatic. As for me, well I'm already far too sensitive to emotions as it is so it's something I do sparingly.
