- Read This Post First -
This is inspired by Dear Abby but it's a modified version. I guess most of you are familiar of that column. Well, I rarely read it but the idea is clear, I hope.
Anybody can post anything here. It's like your own diary/journal but expect some opinions & suggestions from your fellow GB members. This will also serve as a confession basket, sorta. 3nodding Again, you can post some funny, everyday stories. You don't have to indicate if the story or event is true. wink
Let's not assume that all events happen in real life. It could be your RP character having some kind of problem or success. It could be just a figment of your imagination.
Portray any situation that you can think of or that you've heard of. Challenge your creativity and your imagination. Give some twist to a factual event. Remember this, please refrain from using GAIA IDs or real names. We want this to be entertaining. smile
Any names, events mentioned herein are deemed fictitious unless indicated. If you give pieces of advice, please make it sensible and relevant to the problem. We are not here to condemn a soul or pick on anybody. This is all for entertainment purposes, yet it gives us moral values in the end.
We are here to challenge what our minds can really come up with.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to ask. I hope a Mod will modify this post if a need arise. Thank you.
So, post away. wink
heart Edit by Mommi: As we will all offer somewhat differening advice, feel free to answer any topic that has already been answered. Multiple viewpoints and opinions are a good thing. wink heart

Dear Diary,
I really like this guy. I think I'm falling for him. redface Uh, btw, I'm older than him. *faints & revives quickly*
He told me that he loves me no matter what. But I highly doubt that he really loves me. I don't know what to do and what to think anymore. The last time I talked to him, he was so nice and loving.
I think I should leave and just forget about him. I believe he'd be better off without me.
All my friends think he's not that good looking enough for me. gonk But I love him! He's the best person in my life, ever!! They don't know him but I do know him.
Is love really blind? I'm packing up because I'm leaving him. I want him to be happy. I don't think we'll be happy together but we'll be happy as friends. I want us to be best of friends. I'm a very jealous type of person. That's why I don't think he's gonna be happy with me. sad

Dear GB,
I like Lauren who's in one of my AP classes. I didn't really notice her until after our Senior field trip in San Antonio a few weeks ago. She's really cool. 3nodding
I'm kind of popular in school (I'm a QB). ninja That popularity seems to be a big problem. Lauren is so effing insecure. gonk
Her insecurity is quite annoying and it's bothering me a lot. stare I told her that I like her a lot but she doubt every inch of it! gonk She can't believe a guy like me will even hang out with a girl like her let alone like her!
Kill me Vo!! I think she's the coolest and the hottest girl on earth and she doesn't believe that! sad Everything I said, she'd return it with a shrug and "yeah right" or "yeah sure" Holy Crap!! eek
How else can I prove to her that I like her? I do love her but I'm afraid to even tell her that. crying crying

Thanks for this Awesome collum! mrgreen
Dear GB,

What should I do??
Confused Preppy
Dear Confused Preppy, Since pregnancy only lasts 9 months, and will profoundly affect your education, your family, your boyfriend, and all other areas of your life; I suggest telling them right away. It may be easier for you to have your boyfriend present when you do this but it may also create tension unless he has a good relationship with your family. Talk things over with your boyfriend ahead of time because there WILL BE many questions asked.
Some of these might be: question EDUCATION: How do you plan to finish school? Is there an independent study program that you can do from home in the event that you become to sickly to attend school? Will you be allowed to finish school at your current school or will you need to transfer? Talk to your school's counselor about this topic. Will your education continue after the birth? Why or why not? question MEDICAL CARE: Do you currently have insurance and are you seeing a doctor for prenatal care? Are you healthy? Do you have special needs such as diabetes, anemia, or something else? Is there any concern about alcohol, drugs, or smoking? question FAMILY HOME/INCOME: Where do you plan to live once the baby is born? How will you support your child financially? Who will care for the child once it is born? Will you return to school, go to work, or stay home with the baby? Remember babies are costly and have many needs. question MARRIAGE: Do you plan to marry the your boyfriend and if so will it be before the baby is born? Is there time to plan a ceremony to invite friends and relatives to attend? question ANNOUNCING THE PREGNANCY: Who knows and when and how do you plan to announce the pregnancy to the extended family. Presumably you will want to announce it before rumours of your protruding tummy and morning sickness spread.
Being prepared for these questions will make the awkward, first conversation with your parents a bit smoother. At least you can demonstrate that you have thought about your future. Best Wishes, GB

Dear Shopping Freak, idea Open up a bank savings account and put half of your money into it each month. idea Then you can save half and spend half. You will get to shop, but not so much that you will feel guilty because you wont be broke. ninja cool

No Guts No Love Dear No Guts No Love, I suggest that you ask her out on a casual outing for the first date. Ask a handful of co-workers to go somewhere together. This takes the "it's a date" pressure off and will allow you to get to know her outside of work before an "official date". For example start up a conversation about an event in your area. Make sure it is a casual event (no pressure to dress up and not too costly)and preferably one that takes place right after work or during a Saturday afternoon. Choices of venue might include a local fair, parade, sports event, theater performance, museum event, charity event, or movie premiere. If this goes well, it will be much easier to talk comfortably with this person and get a chance to ask her out on a date for two. Best wishes, Mommi for GB

Insecure & Confused Blonde
Dear Insecure & Confused,
It sounds as if you are certain that this relationship is doomed. 1-You say that ALL of your friends do not approve. 2-You do not believe that he does NOT really love you. 3-You believe that you will NOT be happy together. Listen to yourself. 4- You say you are jealous. ninja Jealousy or insecurity in a relationship usually indicated that there is a lack of trust.
exclaim WOW! It sounds as if the jury has already reached it's verdict. exclaim
By the way, friends often have your best interests at heart. Sometimes they don't tell you everything unless you ask for it. Ask them if there is more to their dissapproval than just his outward appearance. Listen to what they have to say, especially if ALL of your friends are in agreance. Romances will come and go, but true friends will stand the test of time.
Remember, there are other fish in the sea and definately some that are more compatible with you. While I don't believe in trying to change a leopard's spots, I do believe in re-casting your line with some attractive bait. wink idea There is no time like the present. idea Life is short, so get fishing.
Good luck fishing. Diary
