Bairn stood there, looking down at his son. His mate, Astia had taken both their daughters out for a little walk, for a 'girly' talk...as he called it. Now it was just the two of them. Which wasn't awkward, but right now the old stallion had nothing to say, so he just smiled at Kiefer.
"Hey, kiddo." The tanned stallion started, an idea came to mind finally. "How's about I send Bae to go fetch your grandmother? Since I don't know where the rest of your family is, she's the only one we can talk to! Aha, you'll love her, you will." Another warming smile appeared on the new father's face, the thought of his mother Mahiri had always cheered him up.
His only son, Kiefer was such a strikingly handsome young fella, but the only thing that disappointed Bairn was the fact that he didn't look anything like his father. Aha, granted...he looked like a twin to Astia...which wasn't a problem. But Bairn had always wanted a son to look like him considering he looked like a twin to his own father. No, the only one in their happy little family that looked like the old stallion was his youngest daughter, Tahlia. So pretty, all his children were and he was definitely proud.
Meanwhile, the old mare was sitting alone at her teepee with three beautiful new baskets at her side. Right now, Hania her mate was out searching for food. The fox colored mare really didn't want to leave her children alone, for they were the only things she had anymore...so she decided to stay with them. Ah, such new and exciting fun they were going to be when they came out.
But it hurt Mahiri to know that if anything, these three new little ones were going to grow up...just like Bairn, Aruna and Artemis did. They were going to leave her sooner or later, and she would be all alone again. What would happen then? More children? Aha, that would be rather sweet...but no...no not now.
Mahiri stared down at the basket that looked just like her and nuzzled it. "It'll be alright, my darling." She said playfully to it. "You'll never leave me, right?" A loud giggle escaped her throat as she thought about the future.

Kiefer grinned up at his father. His sisters and mother were gone right now...that was good! He loved his family very much, but sometimes, feeling like the only boy, he felt boxed in by the girls, and his father was the only one he would really realate to.
"Grandmother?" he asked, tilting his head to one side. Yes...grandmother! He had heard quite a bit about her from his father, and suddenly he felt a new sense of exictment to meet her. "Does she looked like you?" he asked, suddenly fully of questions. "Does she look like me? Does she act like you?" he questioned, envisioning a mare that looked just like bairn, with the same personality.
He knew he was lucky to have such a big family. Some Soquili had no siblings, some had no grandparents or parents. How could you live like that? He wondered how a foal would grow up with out any family to come home too, and he felt very sorry for them.

Bairn let out a rather deep laugh at his son's sudden excitement. It was so wonderful to see him so happy, that was all the old stallion wanted. For his children to be happy with their lives. Unlike him growing up...but everything was much better now.
When Kiefer asked his father those questions, it took the tanned stallion a moment to respond. Aha, no Mahiri was far different than all three of her children, far...far different. In looks and personality. No, Bairn, Aruna and Artemis all looked like Hania. But none of them acted like either of their parents. "Sadly, no she looks nothing like me, or you. She's red. And aha, no...she doesn't act like me either, nor your mother. She's rather the opposite. A very fun-loving and hyper mare. When she meets you, there will be no end to her happiness." Bairn laughed again, that was so true.
So, with that Bairn called out to his familiar. "Bae, go fetch Mahiri for me, please!" Dark eyes stared at the lion as he took off running in the direction of his mother. He couldn't honestly wait to see her again.
The fox colored mare had gotten up from her resting spot with the baskets and decided to play along with the colorful racoon that Bliss had so kindly left behind to give her some company. Joy had, afterall...been the only thing she had in the world until Hania came back, now she had her mate and three new little ones. Laughing, the old mare chased the little racoon through the empty field near the teepee.
That was, until she saw Bae. A familiar face she hadn't seen in a while. When the lion had approached her, a huge smile appearing on her face as he told her the news of Bairn's request. Was it true...did her only son want to actually see her again?
Of cource, being the idiot lion that he was, Bae didn't mention to Mahiri that Bairn's children (she knew about them already because of Joy) in fact, his only son was with him.
So happy with the news, the fox colored mare ran after Bae and the two of them ran back Bairn and Kiefer.

Kiefer picked up his feet like there was something hot under them in excitment. More family to meet! Another adventure, and a fun one at that! He had noticed that most of his family was not huge on mindless crazyness, and knowing that he would meet a member that he could potentially have quite a bit of fun with made him very happy.
He squinted off into the distance. A soquili was running to them, and a farmiliar...the soquili was a red mare...with...Bae? Yes, it was Bae! It must be his grandmother! With out thinking, he ran torwards the twi, his little legs taking him as fast as he could. Of course, he still hadn't gotten complete control of those long, wirery things, and he quickly tripped, doing a forward summersault, landing on his back. He shook his head, blinking and trying to get proper focus back.

Dark eyes stared at his only son and the sudden hyperness that came over him. Ah, that was strange...and almost unpleasant to see. His children being hyper? Oh, lord if the grandparents personalities had anything to do with this, Bairn would have to have a talk with them. "Calm down, Kiefer it's only your-"
He was cut off as the little colt took off running in the direction that his mother was coming from. Seeing her run was exciting, seeing her at all was exciting. Oh, how the old stallion missed his family dearly. But nothing could be done about that, could it? Watching as his son fell and then summersaulted on the ground, it caused the father to quickly run up to Kiefer and nuzzle him.
"Are you hurt, little one?" He asked softly, grinning up at his mother. "Hello Mother...long time no see?"
Mahiri giggled all the way over to her son and her grandson. At first, the little colt that was running to her seemed like a yellow blur...but then when it tripped she gasped. Oh no! A hurt foal! The fox colored mare's motherly instincts kicked in and she reached Kiefer before her own son did. But of cource, she didn't say anything until Bairn spoke up. "Ooh!" She giggled playfully.
"Is this little one yours, my love?" A happy old mare stared at Bairn in delight as she recieved a nodd, then back down at the colt. "How adorable! Aren't you just the cutest little thing! Ooh, you look just like your mother, and those eyes! Gorgeous, I'll tell ya, gorgeous. I'm your grandma, Mahiri. What's your name? Got any siblings?" Mahiri rambled on, and then turned her attention back to her only son.
"Oh, my dear it's been far to long!" The fox mare nuzzled Bairn quickly, not wanting to make him angry for her playfullness. "I've got news to tell you, very exciting news! But first, I want to meet my gorgeous golden grandson."

Kiefer struggled back up, shaking the grass off his fur, and spitting some off. When ever he ran like that he always fell. When would he figure out to stop? Probubly never.
"I'm ok! I'm ok!" he said, having fallen worst then that countless times. "I'm not adorable" he grunted, standing up straight. "I'm big and strong, like a full grown stallion!" he insisted.
"I'm Kiefer! Yup, I got two siblings, Abattie, and Tahlia. Them and mama are off talkin like girls now, though" he explained, already feeling comfortable with his grandmother.
Meeting family like this was always so weird. You knew that you should love them, you knew that you should be friendly and comforatable with them, but you still didn't know them. They were no more farmiliar then strangers.
However, he did feel immidietly comfortable with his grandmother. It might have been that his father acted so comfortable, but maybe it was her motherly instinct. Who knows?

Bairn sighed softly as he watched two creatures, that he cared so much about, talk. "Alright." He mumbled to his son and then laughed at the comment he made. Definitely inherieted his father's personality. "I'm afraid you're not grown up yet, though my son." The old stallion nodded slowly like a sage. It was true, afterall. He was still a colt, and still a new one at that.
The father turned to nuzzle his mother back, affection didn't bother him as much as it did before. He had to show it with his mate, he had to show it with his children...the least he could do was humor his own mother. "News? Oh, dear Mother you must tell me! Whenever you have news, it's definitely something good." Which again, was true. Whenever Mahiri got excited about something, but didn't blab it out right away...it was something interesting. Something relavent.
It made the tanned stallion happy to see the two of them together, it really did. Now he only just wished that his father, his own sisters, his mate and two daughters where here as well. Heck, have Artemis bring her children and Aruna hers. That would only call for a rather large family gathering. Such a fun moment indeed, if that were to ever happen.
Mahiri giggled. "Not adorable? Ooh, yes well excuse me. I meant handsome!" The fox colored mare nuzzled her silly little grandson, he definitely acted the way Bairn did, there was definitely a connection between the personalities. "Of cource you are!" She humored him.
"Two sisters? Ooh, well then my little Kiefer you're going to have to be the strong brother and protect them as you grow up together, right? Don't want any mean stallions coming there way and breaking their heart!" Mahiri giggled, and turned to her son. "Did you know that your father has two sisters of his own? Yup, my own two daughters, Artemis and Aruna. They have little'uns themselves. So you have 6 cousins!" The old mare stopped herself for a moment and thought about that comment.
She actually had nine grandchildren, six children of her own, a loving and fun mate....what better life was there to lead?

"But...well, Grandma says I am handsom!" he said proudly, knowing that if his grandma said it, it must be true. He was vaugly curious about what the news was, since it clearly pequed his father's interest, but having people talk about him seemed much more fun.
"Wow" his eyes widened in excitment. "Six! Thats more then my sisters, me, mama, and papa combined!" he said, proud of figuring this little fact out. He wanted to meet his whole family. Would they be nice to him, or mean? Would they be like grandma?
"What are your siblings like papa?" he asked, curious. In Kiefer's mind, he saw dupilicates of bairn, all walking and talking like he did. His father, natrually, was leading them all in the way he led the family.

Bairn only shrugged. There was no getting through to this kid, or his mother. He was the odd one out now, he was always the odd one out. "Of cource you're handsome. But you're a handsome colt, my dear boy. Not a stallion. Not just yet." The old stallion shook his head. Mahiri had already seemed to be getting to his son, that was bad.
But he was proud of Kiefer, when he figured the little math thing out. Such a smart young fella he was, obviously gaining that little aspect from Bairn. A father's smile was placed onto the tanned stallion as he stared down at the colt when he asked the question.
"My sisters? Well..." He began, but with a quick pause in between. "They're...rather similiar to me. My young sister, your aunt Artemis is a pretty chocolate colored mare who is the most gentle and kind mare you'll ever meet. She's rather shy, though. And my older sister, your aunt Aruna is a light brown spicey mare with a serious attitude. She's actually more similiar to me than both of us can handle. Can you picture a female version of me, Kiefer? Cause that's your aunt Aruna."
Mahiri giggled at her little grandson, what a little joy he was indeed. "Yes, I said that and I meant it, little Kiefer!" She nuzzled him again, before turning back to her own son. "Well, Bairn...your father and I ran into eachother once again not so long ago. And well, now...well..." The fox colored mare had just remembered that she left all three of her new baskets back home. With Joy. Oh, were they in for a wild ride. Oh well, not much could be done now. "Let's just say you have three more siblings that'll come soon!" The old mare giggled, ooh that was so exciting to tell! Little ones in the family again! How fantastic. "So little Kiefer, you'll have 3 more aunts or uncles."
She nodded her head at the young colt's silly attitude and laughed. "Very good. You're one lucky fella, my dear. You have such a big family waiting for you!" That was true, he did. Luckily born into a loving and rather...large family. Not many foals were that lucky. Mahiri listened to Bairn describe his sisters. Ah, her daughters. Poor dears, their lives were probably much harder to lead than their mother's.

"Well...I'm gunna be a real big, strong stallion one day!" he decided. Not a question, a statement. He would be, of course!
"Hmmm..." he thought for a secound. Yes, he could see a female version of his papa. He would very much like to meet her one day...it would be fun! He tired to imagine a more shy and gentle Bairn...that did not work as well. His papa was tough and strong, just like he would be one day. He couldn't be shy.
"MORE aunts and uncles?" he asked, eyes widening. There were already harldy enough to keep track of...now there would be more. That was ok, though. He would be able to remember them all. Certainly they would meet.
He was happy that he had a large family. He hadn't even met half of them, and he already felt so safe and protected. And they had to like him, they were family, so even if all the others didn't like him, he would still have family...right?
"Papa, can I meet everyone else?" he asked, very curious to how they looked. Were any others golden like him, or brown like Tahlia? Were they red like grandma? He wanted to know!

He couldn't do anything but nodd. Boy, Kiefer was in for a big surprise once he grew up. Life wasn't all fun and easy like it was as a colt, no sir. Life was hard, and no body knew that better than Bairn. Perhaps Aruna, too. ...And Artemis? "A strong one, boy. You gunna be like me?" The tanned father teased, hinting a little tone of laughter in his voice.
Dark brown eyes watched his only son. What a proud, proud father he was indeed. Not only be able to have children, but beautiful, smart ones at that. Not many parents were blessed with 'perfect little angels' as some called them. Take for example, Bliss's parents. Poor dears probably had to deal with taking care of a stupid colt until he was old enough to chuck out on his own. Bairn laughed at the thought. Poor parents.
His mother's news hit him pretty hard. What? No! That couldn't be. That wasn't fair! A curious smile, though, was placed on the stallion's face as he stared at Mahiri. "Wow. Mother, really?" Bairn laughed at Kiefer's response, what a way to be excited! Of cource, he was excited himself, because more siblings meant a chance for the family to finally get together...but it also meant that there might be the slight chance that the three little ones in baskets could end up like their parents. Hyper and annoying. Oh, no...please not that. The stallion thought to himself, almost worried.
"Wow. Three little siblings? Artemis will be happy to know she's not the youngest anymore." There was really nothing more to be said, he was happy...surprised, but a tad worried.
Turning his attention back to Kiefer, Bairn shrugged. "Well, yes of cource if you want to. But that might take a little searching around."
Mahiri nodded sage like at her golden grandson. "Big and strong. Big and strong like a macho stallion! Of cource deary!" She giggled and did her best to puff up her body to make it look stronger.
Then she pondered both of their reactions to her news. Kiefer seemed a tad more happy about it than Bairn did, but that was reasonable. "I'll bring them over, Bairn...when they're out. You'll love them they're so beautiful." The fox colored mare giggled before lowering her head to the colt's level. "YES! More! Isn't that great!?! You'll have the biggest family in all the land, and then one day you'll meet them all and then we could have a large family gathering!" Ooooh, boy did she love that idea. Too bad it was close to impossible to make true.

"Even bigger and stronger, Papa!" he said with a grin, joking back. The little colt could only hope to be as good as his father one day. In his eyes, Bairn was the definition of a ideal stallion, so he couldn't even imagine one being any better.
Kiefer smiled, his papa seemed pretty happy about the news. He didn't have the skills to read another's emotions perfectly yet: only the straightforward ones. And for Bairn, that was happy.
"Am I going to get more siblings ever, Papa?" he asked, unaware of how big that question was. He thought of the idea of having another set of siblings like his papa was...he was really lucky!
"Wow.." he said, a bit blown away. The biggest family in the land? So other's didn't have big familys like this? It somehow game him a surge of pride, but also made him feel belittled: was he just one of the crowd?
"I really wanna meet them all" he added, putting a determined look on his face. He may or may not meet them all one day, but he would try. Who knows how long it would take, but he would search and search, and find his aunts and uncles and cousins!

Bigger and stronger? Oh, so Kiefer wanted to push it, did he? Well, Bairn would show him, to teast his father like that was bad. Especially when the father was someone like Bairn. "If you keep that up, son you're going to explode with all your strong muscles." He laughed, it was so much fun being a father. And to joke around with your children. He usually wasn't able to do that with his sisters or mate.
Although his son's next question had left Bairn speechless. What was he going to say? Yes? No? Well, it certainly wasn't a definate yes, and the tanned stallion wasn't sure if he even wanted any more children. Three was enough. But 5 or 6? That would be way to much to handle. So the only thing he could do was shrug. "I'm not sure, Kiefer. That's more of a question for your mother." Yea, that seemed like the right answer.
He quickly nodded towards his mother in response to her. Yes, meeting his little siblings was always going to be something of an interesting experience so he was more then happy to agree. "I cannot wait, Mother!"
The fox colored mare stared down at Kiefer with an amused look on her face. Oh boy was he going to a handful for her poor son. Bairn wasn't one to link to take care of little ones, but to be able to deal with something like Kiefer was going to be tough. Mahiri could do it of cource, she was strong enough. She found herself laughing along with the two boys and nodding.
It was until Kiefer asked the question did Mahiri think this moment was indeed a special one. Just seeing the look on Bairn's face was damn right priceless and it made the old mare laugh. "Oh, deary I don't think that was a good question." She told her golden grandson. "But way to go nonetheless!" A large amused grin was placed on her face. Poor Bairn, he really was in over his head.
Then she nodded slowly as the little colt blew up about having a large family. "Proud of yourself, little one? Because I'm definitely the proudest old mare in the land. Dearest me though I feel so young still!" Mahiri laughed, it was true. Her personality is what kept her from growing up. Only her looks grew with the years. "And don't worry, Kiefer. I'll make sure you do!"

"That would hurt" Said kiefer, imagining himself exploding. Ouch. "But I don't think I would, cause I would only be a little bigger and straonger. Are you saying you are about to explode, papa?" he said, grinning.
"I...don't...huh?" He was a bit taken aback. Had he done something wrong? The little colt pressed his ears back against his head in embaressment. Why had asked that question? Stupid, stupid...stupid. He still didn't understand why it was bad to ask about more brothers and sisters, but he susposed that he should not bring it up again for a bit. A brother would be fun though....
"Ok gramma. We can go find family together!" he said with a grin. Grandma seemed like fun, maybe even a bit more fun then mama and papa. She smiled and laughed a while lot more. Of course, no one could ever replace his direct family.
"When can we go? Oh, and when can we meet my new aunts and uncles?" he asked, a bit confused. Aunts and uncles were suposed to be adults...but if they were new, wouldn't they be foals? Did they somehow skip foal hood? How did they do that? He wanted to do that!

"Not as bad as me getting in trouble with your mother, little one." Bairn teased back. It was definitely true too. If he did anything to piss Astia off, that would hurt a lot more then exploding. "You cannot be bigger then me anyways. No matter how hard you tried!" Bairn laughed, "Me? About to explode? No, never. I'm far to strong to explode. I'd just fight it off." The tone in his voice lost all his fatherlyness and he suddently felt as though he was talking to Bliss. What a bad mental image.
Seeing his sons reaction to his own reaction, it made the tanned father frown. Ah, he had caused confusion. That's not what he wanted. Bending his head down to nuzzle his son, Bairn smiled. "It's alright Kiefer. No harm in asking a question. That just wasn't expected."
He listened to his mother and his son once more, they really seemed to hit it off. Of cource Mahiri was going to come off more playful then ever, but whatever. If Kiefer was happy, he was too. Bairn shrugged at his son's next question.
"We'll meet them when we have time, little one. Don't rush things."
Kiefer was a blast, and he was definitely going to need to be taught a few things by Bairn. Too bad she couldn't do anything about how this little colt was going to grow up, but he still seemed like a lovable fella. "Just me and you, Kiefer! A Grandma-grandson adventure! Sound fun?" Mahiri laughed, indeed it did at least to her.
"We'll go when your father and mother say it's alright my love. Don't worry. And I really have no idea where the rest of my family is. Sorry. My daughters are all over the place. And you can meet your new aunts and uncles when they hatch. They're still baskets, you know." The old fox colored mare nodded. It was so sad to leave her little ones by themselves and she secretely hoped they'd wait for her to come out. She didn't want to be gone during such a special moment.
