This RP is private, aside from the fact that anyone with a family member of Helaku's may join in. This includes mates of relatives as well as blood relatives.

Akila skittered happily through the trees, weaving around them in an agile fashion. She didn't have to work as hard at it as her daddy, who was following a bit more slowly. Of course, she was littler, so that made sense...being small could be neat sometimes! A bright grin spread across the filly's muzzle at the thought, and she surged ahead through the trees with a saucy flick of her striped tail. "C'mon daddy! Slow-poooooooke!"

"I'm coming, I'm coming," Helaku chuckled, tossing his mane away from an errant branch. He did pick up into a trot however, keeping his steps high to move over fallen branches and logs. "You sound pretty excited to see your grandmother," he commented, smiling warmly. Akila's enthusiasm charmed him, and reminded him of his own foalhood. So long ago that seemed sometimes...but he wasn't past it yet!

Delphia was content to stay near the village now. Camarin may be gone, but Sora was still here somewhere, and the meadow she tended to think of as home, where the river bent to flow in an arc, remained sunwashed and warm on most days.

The warmth was welcome to the aging mare. Her joints tended to creak painfully in the mornings, before the sun's rays could soak in and ease the strain. Not that the mare minded. She was serene most of the time, undisturbed by the things that troubled the younger soquili. But today was special. She had taken great care to bathe her pelt clean, despite the chill of the snowmelt running off the mountains.

Now she was drying herself, side-on to the sun and grazing quietly, though her ears were pricked and swiveling, listening for the approach of hoofbeats. Today she would meet one of the newest of her grandfoals, Helaju's daughter. It was something she savored, since she had never gotten the chance so far to meet Dyre's bunch.

"Eeeeee! I see her! She looks like you so that's gotta be her right?" Akila squealed and charged forward, legs flailing her hurry to get to her destination as quickly as possible. "Gramma Delphia! It's meeeeee!" She skidded to a stop in front of her granddam, sides heaving but eyes bright. "Daddy tells me you're his momma, so that means he must have been my size once right?" Her expression was sharp and alert, ears pricked so that they nearly touched at the tips.

With a grunt Helaku shoved aside a small dead tree that his daughter had passed by without an effort, clearing a space wide enough for him to walk through into the meadow. His face lit up at the sight of his mother, obviously delighted to see her. He gave thanks to the foals that made such reunions not just possible, but recommended. "Hey mom...this little one is Akila. Eirian and Elu are either with Olathe, or exploring...with Mai as escort of course." The tabby wolf was proving an invaluable babysitter, and Olathe's nephew Diallo also helped.

Delphia's head snapped up when she heard that shrill voice and the sound of small pounding hooves. Sure enough, here came a filly, charging right up to her excitedly and immediately beginning with questions. She smiled benignly down at her granddaughter and leaned to nuzzle the little girl all over her face, whuffling warmly. "Hello there, little one!"

And then here came her own son, muscling through the forest as if he'd been born a draft. His strength made her smile proudly, and she neighed an enthusiastic greeting to him. "Son! It's so good to see you!" She moved towards him at a smooth but slow trot. Jostling her old bones wasn't so pleasant anymore. It seemed as if age had snuck up on her and struck without warning. In a way it made her sad, but she rarely let such thoughts cloud her days.

Instead, she nuzzled her son, then turned to smile again at the filly. "How wonderful to finally meet you, little Akila." She bobbed her head then and answered the filly's question. "Oh, I was indeed once as small as you! My human waited patiently for me to emerge from my basket, but I got so frightened when I came out that we had a hard time getting to know each other at first. I wasn't able to go out and explore like you are doing!"

This certainly was true. She wished she had been able to, but then that was in the past, and that ws something noone could change. She continued speaking to her grandfoal in a warm tone of voice, without talking down to her. "I didn't get to meet anyone else but my human while I was a foal. Have you been able to meet many new soquili yet?"

"Oh, yes!" Akila chirped excitedly. "Even a half-kalona, though momma and daddy said they could be dangerous so I stopped talking to--wait, what's a hu-man?" She swung her head to look over at her daddy before looking back up at Delphia. "Is it something like daddy's wolf? Mai watches me a lot, so I get to go play."

Helaku shifted from one hoof to another a bit. He really should have told Akila about two-leggers before, but she was so energetic, here, there, everywhere. And he didn't really know any that he could introduce her to, and gods knew that Akila would insist on seeing such a creature. He hoped his dam would be able to explain it to her, since he wasn't sure how to without showing her one.
