Here is where all the detailed information (or not so detailed, really) about what's going on with me attempting to reshade (or rather add some lighting) to some of the kyn templates. I don't want you to just vote on this, please. I would really like it if you could say that maybe you like this portion, but not another one. This way, I can try to make them the best that I can.
There are NO lineart edits. Waffles is just trying to make the basic templates better as some of them are a little flat. There are no plans to work at all on the European kyns as I feel that their shading was done very well.
First Up: Gargoyle Adult Male

As the horrific handwriting suggests, the shading done on the new image included highlighting the tail, the knee, the forearms, the face, the shoulder, the body, and the neck. The wings were not touched at all.
So, what is everyone's opinion? Do you like the original better than the new shading? Is there something specific that could be added, or removed, or edited on the 'new' template? Any help at all would be wonderful. But I also want to vote. If you vote 'yes', you are voting to replace the old template with the new one.
I basically want input and criticism, and eventually a decision. Feel free to listen to everyone's opinion a bit first before voting, to wait and let me make changes. I want these decisions to be community-based, not just me. ^.^

The new on the face and tail is nice, but the rest make them look a little too 'shiny'...>.>' I think too much would make it look cluttered, and as if there are many artificial lights.

I like how the new highlights add more texture to the gargoyles, but I agree with NC-chan's comment that they look a little too shiny. I'm wondering if it would look better without the brightest of the highlights on the neck, body and legs.

Good point. I'll get up a few more samples. Until then, the poll has been removed as people will have to revote. (Yes, this is a long process. XP I wanna make sure that we get about the same agreement on something)

hmm...I'm..not sure as to if thats how the highlights should go..they're the first sing I notice when I look at the kyn, and may be a bit to bright. Unless if you're trying to make the dragon look shiny and glossy due to it's scales.
I'm not trying to say it looks really bad or anything. it just looks more like a pattern to me ^^;

As it is right now, I'd have to say no, though the face and shoulder look pretty good. I'd prefer something smoother like the European's highlights. Exactly like the European's highlights.
And I think it'd look nice with a touch of lightness on the wingshoulder, and the leading edge of the left wing, just to the right of the thumb.

Alrighty, put up some more samples. I can definitely do some more though. None of them have the wings with new highlights yet either, but I will do that. ^.^

Out of them all, I like the first new one best. But I'd still like something with the shading of the Europeans.
It really doesn't seem like it's... like it should be, you know? On places like the neck, the knee, and the tail, it should be a lot wider than it is now.

*nods* Now I get what you're saying, lol. *redid them, again* And this time I included a 'broader' shading style of the baby stage as well.
Please recast your vote and comments!

Broader is getting there! ^.^ Looks more natural. But I still prefer the shading on the Europeans.
