Ditching one's parents while in a public place was rarely a wise idea, but wisdom was not something that came easily to Dageus. With his impulsive tendencies, he tended to run first and think later. It wasn't his fault; he just wasn't used to sitting still. As soon as his hand had closed around his new library card, he had been off and wandering. Sure, he wondered where his father was, now that he had gotten himself thoroughly lost amongst the shelves, but he figured that the dragon-man wouldn't leave the building without him.

Therefore, life was good, and he could search for books at his leisure.

After having begged Aiodhan for more of Shakespeare's works, Dageus had been a bit bemused to be brought here, to a public libary... libayry... libery... whatever the hell this place was called. It had books, lots and lots of books. And somewhere on these shelves were the books he was searching for, the only books worth reading: more plays. Lots and lots of plays. Macbeth was lots of fun to act out, sure, but the wolverine child craved something more, even if he couldn't understand a full third of the language in the book, with all of its 'thee's and 'thou's and 'thy's. Ah, he'd figure it out soon enough. First priority, however, was finding where the heck those plays could be...

He rounded a corner and turned into another aisle, halfway pulling a book off one of the lower shelves to glance at the cover. He didn't know what the book was about, but with a title like "Orchards of Delight" and a picture of two people-- ewww, they were KISSING!-- on the cover, he guessed it wasn't Shakespeare. He grunted and pushed the book back with its comrades and continued on his search.

Ezri was settled comfortably in one of the large overstuffed chairs kept in the library for just such a purpose. She'd been reading up on some Tolkien when she noticed the little wolverine desperately searching through the books.

The red panda girl smiled, delicately closing the book she had been looking through and getting to her feet,
"Do you need some help?" she asked.

After a failed attempt at trying to figure out what sort of organizational system the library used (what the heck were all of those numbers and letters on the ends of the bookshelves?!), Dageus had been sorely tempted to sniff his dad out for some parental assistance. Not only couldn't he figure out where to look, he couldn't even reach the books above the middle shelf. Ahhh, life wasn't fair when you were young and short!

So engrossed was he in his mental growling and self-pitying that he didn't notice someone had spoken to him. It took the words a full five seconds to seep into his brain, and then he came to an abrupt halt, blinking. He turned around, tipping his head back to stare up at the... furry... girl... thing. What was she?! Oh well. She was offering help. Help was good. "Errr... yes. Please. I'm lost," he said, this whole complicated organizing thing being way too much for his young masculine brain to handle.

Ezri giggled. She hadn't spent too much time around children-- Boyue didn't have any but her, and grandma Shiaree hadn't adopted any very little ones too recently.

She looked at the section he'd been pawing at, but she was pretty sure it wasn't the section he wanted to be in anyways,
"What are you looking for?"

Really, he ought to have been in the children's section of the library. If the numbering system was beyond him, she was pretty sure the texts in it would be too.

Oh no. Not giggling. Dageus tried not to cringe. He hated giggling. It was like nails on a chalkboard, minus the screeching sound. He put on a brave face, though, hoping this nice furry girl would point him in the right direction.

"Uhhh... Shakespeare! Yeah. I can't find it. Oh, don't read those books," he said, gesturing at the aisle he had just come out of. The wolverine boy made a wry face, which was hilarious in its grotesqueness. "Pictures of people kissing on the front. Bad. Really bad," he said, his childish view of 'kissing is gross' not needing to be explicitly expressed. Honestly, how could people read that stuff?!

"Ah, yes." She smiled, "Those aren't terribly fun books to read. Here, I'll help you find some Shakespeare then."

She gently touched his shoulder to move him in the direction she was going, and headed towards the children's section. There were, she knew, a few children's versions of Shakespeare for kids there. He might enjoy them a bit more than the regular texts,
"I know you're not a little kid, but in the children's section they have versions that are a little easier to understand. I always get confused with Shakespeare's words, so I tend to pick up these copies whenever I want to read his stuff."

After a hastily mumbled 'thank you', Dageus trundled along after her, trying all the while to figure out what she was. Fox? Wolf? Nawww, fox seemed closer. But that tail wasn't very fox-ish. Hmmm. This was going to bug him all day. He just knew it.

As usual, it took him a few seconds to process that she was speaking to him again, and his head jerked upright, his green eyes wide as he attempted to process. Focus... focus... "Oh... you mean they have some without the funky words? Eeeeeexcellent," he chortled softly, looking very gleeful at this. Progress. Now he would be able to understand and to act them out. Seriously, life was getting good. "Uhhh... how many did he write?" he asked, suddenly curious.

"How many plays, or how many works?" She asked. The scholar in her was kicking in. In general she preferred more fantastical works-- which included many of Shakespeare's works to be sure-- but her adoptive father had impressed on her the beauty of learning in general and she was becoming quite bookish.

...Not that she didn't enjoy being outside as well. Generally she did read outside.

"He wrote poetry too, but I don't think you'd like most of them. They're all about love and such."

She didn't really enjoy them that much herself. They struck her as overly flowery and sappy. She hadn't quite reached that stage when teenage girls fawned over things like that, quite possibly because she hadn't been around many boys her age.

Dageus hadn't been quite sure what to respond until the furry girl elaborated on her question. If 'works' included those damnable things called love poetry, he wanted nothing to do with them. Plays were good. Plays he could run around the backyard reciting outloud for all his life. Poetry was bad, especially those gooey sappy poems that made him want to lose his lunch... and breakfast and dinner. Eww. Just eww.

"Uh, plays!" he said quickly. "I read Macbeth and The Merchant of Venice. Are there many more?" he added, idly clacking his clawed fingers together. Somehow, he knew the habit was irritating, but he couldn't-- or wouldn't-- break it. He liked clicking and clacking his claws. Entertaining, it was.

She tilted her head thoughtfully,
"I think I read that there were around thirty-something in the index before. But to be honest, I don't really know. I haven't read them all myself."

She smiled,
"I can tell you the ones I know are good, though. I like A Midsummer Night's Dream and Hamlet and a few others too."

She wasn't sure he'd like the comedies given they had some romantic stuff in them, but the fantastic nature and silly situations might out-do that if he was into that sort of thing...though, given he liked Macbeth...and she'd never read Merchant of Venice. She wondered if it were a comedy or a tragedy?

They got to the bookshelf and she looked along it for the works,
"I mostly like his comedies, though. They're pretty silly and fun most of the time."

Dageus' jaw nearly hit the floor. Thirty? Or more?! WHOOOOOOOOOO! The wolverine's mind did its own special equivalent of a happy dance. Thirty beautiful plays to read, and he had only just begun! Oh, the possibilities!

Outwardly, he simply settled for grinning very widely, all of his sharp teeth evident. "Okay," he said simply, following her to the bookshelf. He glanced along the bookshelf, trying to stand on tiptoe to view the books higher up. Honestly, he needed to grow. Or get stilts. Either way, he needed to be able to reach. "Is Hamlet good? It sounds tasty..." he mumbled thoughtfully.

She nodded,
"Oh, I think you'd like that one a lot," she wasn't sure exactly, but she felt she was getting a bit of an idea of his personality and Hamlet definitely seemed like his sort of thing,
"It's about a boy that wants to get revenge on his uncle, because his uncle killed the boy's father and married his mother, becoming his stepfather...and there's a ghost and fighting and stuff."

She handed a compendium to him,
"This has quite a few of the stories, actually, without all the crazy words."

Not bothered in the least by the compendium's weight, Dageus' grin widened. Several stories, no crazy words.... oh, his life was good. "Yes. Revenge and death and ghosts and fighting... I like!" he chortled happily, practically dancing in place. He could do this for weeks without ever getting bored. He stared wide-eyed at the book in his arms.

Then some of the manners that his mother had shoved into his fuzzy head came to mind, and he cringed at his lapse. Ooops. He'd better not tell Mum. She'd so bust his butt. He had better introduce himself now before she or dad appeared.

"Uhhh, thank you," he said, shifting the weight of the compendium over to one arm and extending one furry, clawed hand. "I'm Dageus."

She took the extended paw gently, smiling. This little guy was awfully cute. She enjoyed his spunk, definitely. A wild little thing. Reminded her of Sagitta, really.

"I'm Ezri," she said, shaking it while careful to avoid the claws lest they accidentally scratch her,
"And you're quite welcome. Anything I can do to encourage another to read."

Dageus grinned unabashedly up at her. For a weird and unidentifiable furry girl who giggled, she wasn't so bad. She knew about Shakespeare. That made her cool. Undeniably. "Hi, Ezri. That's a cool name," he commented, shifting the compendium beneath his other arm.

He tilted his head to one side, careful to keep his claws away from her fur. People didn't like claws, in general. He liked them, but then again, they were his. "What do you read?" He prided himself on coming to the conclusion that she read too. Who would be in this lib-book place and not read?!
