I skimmed the comics once, then never got around to buying them. After the movie, I picked them up, remembering how I had wanted to and forgot. Buddy, I soon realized what I was missing. Folk lore, myths, pulp, and good ol' fashion one liners!

The only thing I despise is how they view werewolves and vampires. I'm more into the romanticized, modern visions of the mythical, gothic creatures. So, I don't think werewolves and vampires are necessarily evil--they just gotta do what they gotta do. (I mean, come on--if you had to drink blood to live, you'd do it, wouldn't you?)

That's how the BPRD views the world: as long as the creatures and mythological figures don't bother anybody, they won't intervene. When we see monsters, we see the ones who have acted out and attacked.
I like the comics the best, in terms of both Hellboy and BPRD. The novels come close behind, because that's truly a special, unexpected medium.

The toys and that were something I forgot to mention, but I finally tracked down the Alien from the 2nd series of toys last weekend! I've not seen one for a good month... Last time I did, they were shipping it to a different store, and refused to sell it to me! Oh I cried.
Also picked up the Hellboy minatures. I suck at painting, and I've not even sprayed them yet, but I'll get photos up when I'm done, if people want.

I'm saving up to buy the Abe Sapien figurine from Series 3. It's too bad there's nothing following that. I really wanted Kate Corrigan and Ben Daimio action figures to really complete the BPRD.

Series three isn't out, yet. The only one that will be released is Abe Sapien.

For now, they decided to quit on us after just two series. However, they didn't want to stop without giving us Abe.
