Uh, first of all, hi there everybody. Hokay, so I'm going to Otakon this year (obviously, otherwise I wouldn't be here). It's going to be my first time cosplaying, and I've picked a dress I really like as the one I'm going to be making. I'm planning on doing Dinah's dress from Bizenghast vol. 2, the one she's wearing aftershe removes the dream-plague. The dress itself most likely isn't going to be a problem. What I'm having an issue with at the moment is finding the bones that go on top. My problem is that there's a very large number of bones on the dress and I'm having trouble finding places to buy them that won't cost me a huge amount of money. What I'd like to know is if anyone here can suggest a site or store that can supply a large number of plastic or styrofoam (or perhaps some other material) bones that wil be relatively inexpensive. I'm especially in need of ribs and long bones, since those make up the majority of the decoration on the dress. Am I actually going to be able to find a site to purchase them from, or should I just go raid a graveyard or two? (Kidding, kidding, okay?)Any advice on the construction of this dress is very greatly appreciated.

I suggest finding a craft store like Micheals that might have styrofoam bones normally used for decoration. It's going to be hard to find, since they're usually stocked during Halloween, so you might have to hunt around for a little while.

That means I'm probably going to end up going supply hunting starting this weekend. If I can't find styrofoam bones, I'll probably have to carve them myself.

Any party or costume store would probably have some left over halloween things on sale. You should see what's out there. smile

get some foam sheets and cut some out. ( these will be flat but with a grey marcker you can add shadeing) or get a relitively thin peice of styrofoam and cut some out both items can be found at 99.9% of arts and crafts places

The foam sounds like the easiest solution. I might get some sheet insulation and carve them out of that.
