Death

She was lonely. Having darkness drenched over her shoulders was a nightmare. Everyone hated her; no one wanted to be with her. Everyone adored her sister. She huddled in a dark corner sobbing without being noticed. Her name was Death, her horrendous name and her bloodcurdling job. Her job was to bring people to their death when it is time. For example, when you are in a hospital and your heart is ready to stop beating, she gives you the hand to lead yourself to death. Her sister was named Life. Her job like her name was to keep people safe and alive. Everyone adored her, her wondrous name and the magnificent light that she gives upon people. People had even voted her the most perfect person who gleamed upon the land of Perfection. The land of Perfection was a land roamed with humans and fairy creatures.

“Holy Jesus! What on Heaven happened to your poor face?” I watched Life come into my room and stretch out her arms into a hug. “Come on, I won’t bite! Give your sister a hug and then your worries will go.”

I pushed her arms away. “Yeah right, just go swoop yourself to Heaven and pray your light with them.” Death muttered a sentence under her breath and Life pretended not to hear.

“Just tell me what’s wrong, you know I can help.” Actually, Life knew there was no way she could help her sad sister because she knew only blood and sacrifices made her content. It was the opposite of her.

“I said go away! Do you want me to kill you until it makes me content?” Death turned her back around to face Life and took a knife out of her pocket. Her eyes were dark red with fury her face was so dry and pale. Her lips cracked of dryness and the pieces were beginning to curl.

“Dearest Death, how about we sit down first and then talk about what’s happening.”

Death knew it was the right thing to do because she was sweet and kind. As much as she hated herself, she was never a cold-hearted being. “It’s because of all the creatures around us, the creatures upon this land of Perfection. When I reach my hand out to a dying creature, they haunt me and give me nightmares. They fear me!” When she said the word ‘fear’ it had actually given Life goose bumps.

“Wait let me give you something!” Life took out her pocket knife and cut her wrist ‘til they bled. Life handed a droplet of blood to Death and she smiled. “I love you dear Death.” Life gently stroked her sister’s right cheek and then took it away.

Death grinned and said “I love you too.” She went into her room and then took out a gift her great, great grandmother had given her. “I know I shouldn’t be showing you this, but I trust you. You are my only sister and you are the nicest friend any creature in Perfection could have. “This is the stone of life. I know, you’re dearest dream and wish was to find this but great, great grandmother had given it to me to hold.” Death took out the stone from the packet and said, “I’ve cared for them, spoke with them and loved them.” The stone held all the lives of the females from her family’s tree.

“WHAT!?!? How do you have it? I’m LIFE!!!! Why didn’t great, great grandmother give this to me?” Life was envious of it; her cheeks were pale and pink. She sucked her cheeks in and started to pout.

“It’s because I suffered a great deal of life! I lost all my blood because I wanted happiness. I’m not cruel!” Death dropped down to her knees and looked up at her sister’s sparkling eyes. “I lost everything I ever wanted! This is not what I am! Do you actually think I dreamt my future of becoming…this?” Death sputtered then paused. She took in a deep breath to calm herself then continued on. “You have everything, absolutely everything I ever wanted. To have what you have, I’d crawl on my knees for life. I’m desperate!” Her voice pierced through Life’s ears and made an echo. Life brought Death to a corner and they both huddled in the corner crying.

“I’m sorry Death, you and I know very well that the only way to get the stone away from you is to kill you. One centimetre away from your body kills you, and I’m sorry, but I love you and remember that.” Life snatched the stone that held the lives of her family and Death fell. Her eyelids still wide open as stone and she had a non breathing body. Since Death had died, no one ever again in Perfection can die again. Life came rich with power because the stone which held the lives of her families absorbed into her. She now held the power of her family.
