The black female carried her mothers stripes in her fathers colourings. She was very much like her father though, she carried a lust to wander and find adventures, something that would be different to everyday life in the pride.
She loved her family and her pride but there was something about it that always seemed to make it boring. Nothing ever changed.
She sat by the forest that was the boundary of the prides lands. She stared at them wondering what she would find if she ever found the courage to cross them. For now though she would just wonder.

Both opposite and alike her sister, Nurisha had some of her father's markings but took her delicate colours from her mother. The pale pattern on her rump, the ear cuffs, the eyes so light they almost looked blind...but Nurisha could see well and far - while she loved her family and pride dearly, she was sure one day it's dullness would make her stray, if she could only convince someone to go with her. She hadn't the courage to go alone.
She padded up to where her sister sat and lay down without saying a word. After a few moments of comfortable - they were family after all - silence, she turned to offer a small smile.
"Hey Umbia."

Umbia said nothing for a while and only nodded her head at her sister to show that she had indeed noticed her. She was still dreaming of life outside the pride as she seemed to do nearly every second of the day.
"What are you doing here?" Her voice was calm with a small sign of annoyance though she was not annoyed at her sister just at the fact that this pride seemed like a prison to her and she wished to explore, get out and about. She would have to wait, being so young meant she depended on these lands though she wished she did not.

Equally serene, but with a touch of wistfulness. When you've explored as much of your native prideland as possible at your age, wasn't it natural to daydream of the places beyond the forbidden border? Who knew what was awaiting them out there...
"I came to look at the border - sometimes I think I can see through the trees if I look long enough, but I'm probably just dreaming."

"You are, the trees go on for miles." Umbia stated as if she had tried to get through them, she had but hadn't got far as she realised it would be too easy to get lost and she was too young to get herself lost.
She stood up and stretched looking for the first time at her sister, "Where are our other sisters?" She was curious, it had been a while since she had seen their older sister, she missed the white lioness who shared Nurisha's markings but in red.

"Not sure - think they may be playing by the sleeping place."
Nurisha stated, turning pale eyes on her sister once more. She had known it had simpley been her imagination, but unkike the dark and dramaticly marked Umbia, she had been too scared to actually try to go in there by herself. 'Sha wasn't one to be alone. She preferred companionship when finding out about new things and places to lone exploration. Only when she was daydreaming did she like to be alone.

Umbia nodded. She disliked being alone as well but that wouldn't hold her back from having an adventure and she was counting down the days to when at last she would wander again, happily and care free.
She stretched a little before deciding that she was bored of staring at the forest. "I am going to go and find something to do before the sun gets low and mother wants us back." She smiled and then started to walk in a random direction, "Coming?"

"Sure." Easy come, easy go - the lighter cub figured she could find some time tomorrow to sit and muse, staring at the borders. One day, she'd find a ragtag group of friends and they'd go exploring together...and come back again...and go....it was Nurisha's dream.
Right now, it'd be more fun to go with Umbia before it was time to head home, and find something to do within the lands. Before their mother called them in - that was plenty of time. She trotted a few paces swiftly to catch her up then slowed to match her sister's step.

Umbia decided it was time to head to the watering hole. She had been trying hard lately to become a better swimmer and it had been working, slowly. She had heard many lions were scared of the water but she was determined to not be one of them so she tried as much as possible to swim, that and the water kept her cool. It was something of a curse having a black pelt.
She jumped about as she ran towards it, turning occassionally to see whether her sister was still following, "Come on! Your sloooooooooooooooow!" She laughed and continued to prance along.

Nuri, who'd made efforts to try to walk alongside her sister, raised an eyebrow. With a smsile, she picked up her speed to bound along as well. She was much more quiet than her sister but good humored. She could run just fine, ta.
Also fun was running headlong into the waterhole, sending up a spray. It was deep enough to tread water after a while though an adult wouldn't have been able to in the small pond. Like Umbia, she wasn't afraid of the water - though she swam for sport.
"Coming swimming?"
