I'll post about some other songs later, but my favorite song lyrically from their first album is Know. The lyrics are just so awesome. A lot of people think it means something politcal, but I think I'm pretty close to nailing it (even though it can be taken different ways), I'm pretty sure its about the afterlife. So, I'm gonna post a long, witty post about how I got that, read if bored. Quote: I will (never?) feed off the evergreen luster of your heart Not sure, but I think it means I will (not?) listen to what you tell me. Quote: all because we all live in the valley of the walls The valley of the walls is where the alive people are. The place outside of the wall is the afterlife, but we don't know what it is like, because the walls are in the way. Quote: And when they speak we can peek through the windows of their mouth Basically people tell us what they think the afterlife is like. Quote: to see the land of women chant as they fly up to the sun Not sure about this one either, but I guess people tell us that the afterlife is going to be a lot weirder than what we're used to. Quote: Books all say different things Different books (the bible, etc) say different things about the afterlife. Quote: while people flap their yellow wings trying to soar, being a whore of life and almost everything That one confuses me as well. But when they say "yellow wings" I'm pretty sure they mean fake wings. It seems like System refers to dying as flying at times ("Question!" comes to mind). That plays a part in this line, but I'm not sure what...... As for the interpretation of the line, "Don't commit suicide unless you're sure something awaits in the afterlife, otherwise you'll be wasting your life". And there you have it, I'd like for someone else to post their idea on Know, that song interests me......
