I realise this is just an expansion of the question in the crew application, but still....

NO ONE. A cyberpunk is an individual. Unless they work for a corporation, then they listen to whoever is above them enough to not get fired so they can stick around long enough, move up the ranks, and then be the one who listens to NO ONE.

Oh, music? You know, whatever is playing in their subdermal earphone...top 40 hits, progressive Euro-Japanese trance-pop, the blips and bleeps of the techno age gone awry.

Personally, I'm a fan of Gibson's portrayal of music...what the people of the future listen to. In a sense, it's mashed-up music from many sources, nothing and everything like what we have now. I would say it's the evolution of music...the natural tendency to adapt and evolve.

So long as there's no place for people like P. Ditty we should be good...

To put it nicely, a cyberpunk listens to whatever floats their boat. Yeah, the electro or bio-organic beats of bands such as FLA, MBM, or Juno Reactor might get the occasional CP response, but a true punk of any fashion listens to whatever drives theirs emotions to their cause. Hell, Madonna could be listened to and accepted if the reasoning is right. I've always been a fan of the whole "******** what is mainstream" ideology. In the end, it doesn't matter what other people think of what music you listen too, if it gets the blood flowing and pulse racing, isn't that all that matters?

I listen to alot of random things really from Rasputina to Saul Williams to KMFDM to Paul Oakenfold. I don't let the sub-division of music by 'genre' get into the way of listening to music that I enjoy. Granted, I mostly listen to industrial rock and ebm, but it really depends on what I'm doing at the time and what mood I'm in. I listen to music literally, all day every day and I would get really bored with the same s**t over and over again if my selection wasn't so diversified.

Hell, the other day I need to listen to happy music because my mother was admitted into the hospital again, so I went home and listened to Aqua for a couple hours til I got tired and then put a bunch of random Tom Petty and the Hearbreakers and The Black Heart Procession to get me in a sleepy/mellow mood. Whereas at work, my laptop is filled with electronica and ambient music [AFX, Coil and Moby's ambient stuff mostly] because it helps me concentrate on my job while still giving me a rhythm to follow.

See, now I did it like any real cyberpunk would...I DLed it from a ftp file server a contact of mine had. I traded him some Invader Zim episodes.

My older bro rips music from CDs and stores them on his comp. I can then link up to his comp, it it's in my network, and download any song from his 1500+ library. It's very nice and cost nothing. Plus he doesn'd spend a thing, since they're his friend's CDs

Now see, that would work, if I didn't want the album art, too...
