The roar of the ocean surf howled against the winds, the sun rising out from the sea as its rays caused the glassy regions of the sea to illuminate within a brilliant array of bright orange and golden yellow, casting an almost green hue with the morning. Along the small elevated ridge of sand that overlooked the ocean, the head guard of the Outriders sunk upon his stomach as his head rested upon his forepaws, eyes gazing out towards the horizon as his tuft of tapered, crimson hair swayed before his tattooed eyes while his curled, feathered tail curled around his body.
Often, the morning was a time of self reflection- wandering about the packlands and letting his mind muse within whatever thoughts were drifting about his mind. This morning, all the punk wolf could bear to think about was his kids; Valen and Jaylin.
His checker banded paws shifted within the sand as a small smile curled upon his maw.
Both of them were now adolescents and Jaylin was, last time he saw her, was training to become a Seer. It seemed these days that Valen had drifted in and out- wandering whever he pleased and aspiring to be great like his good ol' dad or even greater. For both Jaylin and Valen, Cellen had high hopes for both of them and knew that they would make him proud. It seemed sad to think that time was flying by so fast and that soon they would be be adults-
Adults?
The punk wolf bit his lower lip, ears flattening against his skull. He didn't like to think that soon he would be the father of two young adults. He enjoyed being a father and hopefully he could convince his mate, Nix, that he wanted more kids.
He chuckled to himself, grinning ear to ear as he glanced back towards the den. "Pe'haps Marra will be up to it?" He commented to himself.
Shrugging his shoulders, Cellen looked back towards the sea and gave a small sigh.
"If only I could see 'em again."

Nix was laying on her side near the den, though on the beach watching the waves lap the shore, getting ever closer to her paws. It was hotter out today then it had been before. Nix wasn't sure where Cellen was, or Valen, or Jaylin or Rage. She wasn't sure where anyone was, even Reno.
Rage.
"Seems I'm leaving you behind..." she spoke absent-minded, not thinking before the words passed from her maw. "I don't mean to Rage, its just, you seem to fall behind on your own...we were supposed to start families together Rage..." Nix wiped a paw over her eyes, the tears that wished to fall she didn't allow. She and Rage were going to be guardians together, have families together, be known, but...it seemed like it wasn't going to turn out that way.
Even Jaylin, seemed to be onto great things, Valen was growing up fast as well.
Nix sometimes wished she could turn back time, have them be pups again, have little paws running around her and Cellen, the smiles, the laughs, everything would be perfect. Though she could do without Phib walking in on her and Cellen. She laughed to herself, that had been interesting indeed.
"Mom?" Light blue eyes settled on the gray figure much like himself on the sand. He tilted his head, his red fur atop his head falling into his view somewhat, what was she doing? Nix turned around, smiled, facing her son, but Cellen wasn't with him. Strange...
"Valen, where've you been, where's your sister, your father?" She asked, but he stayed silent, just padded over to her side and she sat up, tilted her head, tried looking him in the eye but he wouldn't. Had something happened?
"I don't know..." he folded his ears back, he knew his mother would catch onto his disappointment, but he didn't want to say anything. He just took a seat beside her, why couldn't he have gotten a special gift like seerism or shamanism?
Why couldn't he be special?

His ears flickered as his cerulean orbs danced with pure light abiding within them as a smirk tucked at the corner of his maw. The familiar voices of his son, Valen, and his dearest mate, Nix, cut cleanly and audibly against the ocean surf. Perking his head upwards from off of his checker banded sweat paws, he listened while chuckling to himself.
But his brows furrowed, head inclining outwards just a bit as his head tilted at a mere angle.
There was a distinct tone- a distinct emotion that shrouded itself within his sons voice that made his heart ache. Watching as he took a seat aside his mother, Cellen wrinkled his muzzle as his metal cladded ears flickered. The punk wolf knew all to well that something was certainly bothering Valen, yes- something was not settling well with his son. Ever since Jaylin had been gifted randonmly with the very peculiar powers of a Seer, her brother had seemed to become a bit more forlorn, a bit more quiet and a bit more distant. In this situation there could only be one real culprit but to try and pin his son into admitting it would be hard enough and the last thing Cellen would ever want was to drive his only son away. For that would shatter his heart and make the wounds all the greater.
"You mean that bazzin', handsome head guard?" The punk wolf corrected with a sly grin plastered upon his maw. "The one wid' the curly tail, that cha'm and that magnatism?"
Rising up to his paws and merrily struting down the small sands, Cellen rose his tail high as he narrowed his compassionate orbs towards his mate.
"The bloke whose Marra is lookin' a bit hot to trot? He's righ' here," he winked, settling down beside her and graciously planting kisses upon her maw and nuzzling deep into her fur as he took deep breaths of her intoxicating scent. "Right where he should be."
The long trek home was a bit grueling and tedious but it was something that caused the young Seers heart to beat anxiously- a steady pulse although she could feel the excitement course through her veins and overtake her with such happiness. But a part of her did feel as if it was missing- something, no- someone. A warm smile trailed across her maw as thoughts of Aka bombarded her every thought. How she missed him! But he knew that she needed to see her family, she needed to tell them of her adventure and, of course, about her mate.
Slinking through the brush and sparse forest as it began to scatter and dissapate, Jaylin's curly tail swayed lightly behind her as she crept towards the pathway that she and her family had traveled upon many times- countless times. As the lights filtered in from the boughs above and the dirt underfoot became the soft, warm sands, Jaylin peered outwards and grinned.
There they were.
Her family.
Hoping to get the jump on them and truly surprise them, she waited within the brush as her ceruluean orbs, much like her fathers, narrowed.
"They won't even expect it," she giggled softly.

Nix's eyes lit up when she heard his voice, Cellen's, god, she could melt by just hearing him talk to her, say anything to her. She loved him so much, she'd never let anyone or anything take him away from her, not the crazed gray wolf, nothing, nothing at all. "Really then? Then if I'm so hot ta trot why'd ya leave me here all alone hmm?" she said with a smile and gave him a lick upon his cheek. She curled her tail with his and nestled against his side.
This was heaven.
Except a piece was missing from her perfect picture.
Valen distanced himself in his mind from his parents, they really could get mushy a lot, he sometimes slept outside the den upon the sand when they wanted to be alone, which was sometimes quite often unfortunately. Though being away from them was good sometimes, he could focus on himself. Though that wasn't the best sometimes, he mainly focused on his failers as a son to his father.
He had wanted to be the best ever, and he never would be.
He laid his head on his paws and had his blue hues meet the ocean waves again, sometimes he wondered if he could get lost in them, and if he did, if they would notice, if anyone would. If only he could've been chosen...
If only he could've been a better son.

A sly grin slid across the maw of the punk wolf as he arched a brow in a deviously manner. "Well- you hav'ta miss me for the urge to be stronga'. They say missin' your lova' makes the intimacy more sweet'a," he whispered, his calm, soothing voice rolling off his tongue with ease.
His metal cladded ears flickered, a sheepsih smile coming across his maw as he glanced towars his son. Of course Valen was probably use to it by now- Cellen could feel that he probably was a bit weirded out and embarassed. Valen knew all too well that Cellen and Nix were very intimate and that was something that was hard to break or cease between both Cellen and Nix. Chuckling deep, the punk wolf gave a warm smile.
"How's tricks, Valen?" He commented, tilting his head lightly as his curly tail thumped about upon the sand.
For a moment- he blinked.
Where was Jay? If only she was here- if only they're family could be united once again.
"Have you seen your sista' at all?"

Nix said nothing just nuzzled her head beneath his chin, gave him a few licks across his cheek and settled herself against his side. This was heaven, it was, but still, a piece was missing. When Cellen spoke to Valen, then asked about Jaylin, Nix wondered where she was also. It seemed like an eternity since she had seen her only daughter.
But, they were growing up, who could stop them from going their ways, and becoming adults? Nix wished she could, though it seemed inevitable that everyone would part their own separate ways someday, though she'd never leave Cellen, ever.
Valen looked up at his father, those marks Cellen had Valen carried too, the crazy hair, the curly tail, but why did he feel so distant, so...useless? He hadn't been a good son, he hadn't done anything worth while yet, why did his father seem like everything was okay when it wasn't.
The mentioning of Jaylin said it all though.
Even if the words were spoken untrue in Valen's head.
So his father did like Jaylin best, his sister, he was his son! Valen turned his head from his parents and sighed, closed his eyes and thumped his tail against the ground once. He didn't know where she was, even if he did miss her, wanted her to be okay, he wasn't sure, "I dunno..."

The punk wolf watched- cerulean orbs keen and observing his sons reaction. Valen was doubting himself- thinking that he was playing favorites which, in all honesty, was hard! His son was a teen and it would be hard to get it into his head that it was a simple concept that something like that was impossible for any wolf to pull- well, in Cellen's case.
Cellen nodded his head as a low sigh escaped from his maw. "Ah- that's alrigh'. But soona' or lata' I think we might need to leg it and try to find 'er. A good reunion would be jus' bazzin!"
"Bazzin'? I'd say would be worth it and about time," the female laughed softly as she stepped from out of the shadows and brush. Wagging her tail estatically, she kept a widespread grin upon her maw as she narrowed her eyes towards her brother whom she loved so dearly. Crouching low, Jaylin lunged forwards and tackled him as best she could.
"Valen!" She yipped estatically, tugging on his ear and nuzzling against him. "I've missed you! I- look at you! Just like Dad!"
Her older brother was someone she looked up to- someone she cherished. The time she spent away on a pursuit of developing her powers had taught her that family was a source of power, love and determination. Jaylin loved her family and would never trade them for anything! To be home- to finally be home after a month made her heart sing!
Wrestling and trying to provoke some playful fun out of him, Jaylin dashed to the side and nuzzled against her mother, Nix.
"I've missed you mom," she nuzzled, licking her cheek once and smiling as she moved towards Cellen.
A wish came true- and the eyes of the head guard seemed to glaze with tears. For the first time in over a month, the family was back together. "Jay," he softly spoke and he nipped at her ear and nuzzled against her.
"Welcome home."

Nix turned her head when she heard a voice she hadn't heard in so long. She turned around just in time to see Jaylin rush at Valen, tackle him, then rush to her side. Her heart swelled with emotion, tears at the corner of her ice blue eyes. Her daughter was here, she was home...finally home.
Nix nuzzled her head against her daughters cheek and whispered, "I missed you..." quickly before attention was turned to Cellen. Father and daughter, a beautiful sight, so why did Valen distance himself so? Nix didn't quite understand.
Valen was hit hard, he was ready to yell and flail and thrash, but it was her, Jaylin, his sister. He did love her, blood between them, he did, but as she said he was like Cellen, his father. He felt his heart sink, he was nothing like his father, his father was a head guard, Valen wasn't anything in particular. He went to say something, but she turned and headed for their dad.
He sighed, watched Cellen embraced her in a way he hadn't been in a while.
Perhaps he should vanish for a while, then come back later.
Maybe with a scar or two to prove he had done something...but would they even notice if he was gone.
"Heaven now..." Nix spoke gently, "finally heaven's gotten its missing piece...we missed you Jay...why were you gone for so long?"

For a few moments, Jaylin sat there as her father nuzzled against her and those words- his voice, that was something that she hadn't heard in months! To be with her family at last meant so much to her and to be home made her troubles and her worries seem simple and so minor. A grin tucked at the corner of her maw as she nuzzled deep into his thick fur, intaking his scent and drawing her muzzle upwards as she planted a small, affectionate lick upon his cheek.
"It's good to be home, Dad, I missed you- I missed you, mom and Valen." She softly laughed as small tears trailed from the same cerulean orbs just like her father. But as her mother questioned on where she had been, her ears perked upwards as a rather puzzled expression played across her maw.
"Why was I gone? Didn't Dad tell you, mom?"
Didn't they know? This was certainly odd. How could her mother not know? Did Valen know? Certainly Cellen would of-
"Dad..." Jaylin spoke, a firm tone abiding within her voice as she looked up to him with a serious stare. "You told them, right?"
"Told them- oh," the metal cladded ears of the punk wolf fell against his head as a small, sheepish smile crossed his maw but rather it held a bit of shame for not having told them. His duties as head guard had been so hectic that he hadn't had time to stay home and- well, he thought it would be a rather bazzin' surprise for Jaylin to tell them herself. "Jay, it ain't my thing to tell your mom and Valen- this is your surprise and I kept it that way."
Torn between being a bit dissapointed that her father hadn't said anything concerning her whereabouts and rather excited that she could tell them herself, Jaylin bit down on her lower lip and took a deep breath.
She had to tell them especially since it was brought up and both Nix and Valen were probably curious of what exactly she and good ol' dad were talking about.
"Mom, Valen, the reason I was gone so long is- well, it's because..." her words fumbled as she gritted her teeth. There was no easy way to say it but she was deadlocked in telling now. "Valen, remember when I told you about those voices I kept hearing and all of those dreams? They meant something and I figured it out and listened to them and..."
Jaylin was getting flustered. Her ears fell against her skull and she closed her eyes, bracing herself for the next words to trail from out of her mouth.
"I listened to them and was granted the gift of the Seers."
Opening her eyes as she exhaled a slow breath, Jaylin leveled her eyes with her family.
"I'm a Seer."

Valen's eyes went back adn forth between his sister and his father. He felt a bit torn inside, that his sister AND father were keeping something from he and his mother. His father hadn't even said something? What was going on, this wasn't right, that wasn't the dad Valen knew and loved. He kept quiet, and his mouth opened to gape at his sister-
She was a seer?
Suddenly he felt crushed, of course, baby sister got everything. He didn't want to show his sadness, so he offered a smile, as much as he could anyway, but he really couldn't bring himself to say anything. Why couldn't he have heard hte voices...and been a seer?
Nix's tal began wagging when Jaylin said she was a seer, perhaps the prophecy was wrong, I wasn't sipposed to be a seer or shaman, perhaps it was Jaylin...makes sense, she has my mark she mused. How wonderful! Nix would have to tell Rage!
Perhaps then also, Nix should tell Jaylin a bit about her past history, the valley, maybe Jaylin was supposed to be a guardian there.
"Thats wonderful sweety," Nix said standing and walking over to Jaylin to nuzzle her gently. What a family! A shaman and a seer, Reno and Jaylin.
But, why was Valen so quiet?
