Is there an actuall right way to spell it...??
I've noticed on this site some people say magic others magick... some websites say magic is magican "magic" like fake optical illusions.....
Some books say there is no need for a k on the end of it.....

I spell it with a "k" because I like to distinguish it from the type of stuff in fiction books who always spell it without a "k". But I'm not sure about this subject really. sweatdrop

It all depends on who you talk to which way it's spelled. I actually have it spelled four different ways in my Book.
Magic Magick Majik Majick

The reason it's sometimes spelt with a K is because it's the old form of the spelling as well majick. Those were the orginal spellings before we modernized the word to magic. I still use the K or JI in the middle when I spell it. But when I spell it other forums, I use the modern spelling so no one accuses me of not knowing how to spell

I don't think there is a CERTAIN way it has to be spelled. English is like that.
Did you know that William Shakespeare had some 13-odd ways to spell his own last name before English was standardized? =P
I refer to pulling-a-rabbit-out-of-a-hat magic as "Magic Tricks" or "Entertainment Magic," but I catch myself spelling the craft as both "magic" and "magick." Its up to you.
Just like how I prefer to use the spelling "colour." I think its fancier. *shrug*

Yes, there is no one way to spell something, even though you see most books spell it magick(I have seen that), it does not matter if another spells it magic. I believe magic was always spelt magic. Still, just like people have been saying, there are many ways to spell something like theatre, centre, shoppe....

The k at the end of magick, was added by Aleister Crowley to distinguish between two forms of magic. Magick is simply shorthand for ceremonial magic, whereas magic is shorthand for stage magic.

"theatre" is the building, while "theater" is the genre/performance. That is actually a difference that is supposed to be defined. I know that most theater (the genre) actors actually know the difference.

I would say magick with a "k". Most people won't take you seriously other wise. They think tricks and games if it doesn't have a "k" and you mean serious business with a "k".

Leinaa It all depends on who you talk to which way it's spelled. I actually have it spelled four different ways in my Book. Magic Magick Majik Majick Magic can be spelled many different ways to differenciate from illusional tricks. It doesn't matter which way you spell it really, though for alternative spellings magick is the favored, as Crowly was the one who made it popular.
