The Lone Wolf
Part 1
I am one who has left the pack for reasons. I travel, hunt, seek, and survive alone. I travel until… I meet another lone wolf and lead a new pack, for I am a lone wolf. This path… is what I shall take till the end...
I walk in the worst blizzard in the forest I ever experienced. I’ve now to seek for food and shelter. It becomes colder and colder, until I start to shiver. Suddenly, I find a cave that seems to be empty. I sniff the air and catch no scent. So I mark the tree next to the cave. I curl up by the wall, and for the first time feeling lonely in my life.
The next morning, I awaken to see 4 feet of snow outside of the cave. I catch a scent of a deer. So I got on my paws, sniffed the air, and struggled to walk through the snow. The deer must be close to my territory. So I hid in a bush hoping there would be something.
Stealthily, I spot the doe, but how can I attack without being heard or seen. I look around for somewhere to attack from. The tree is to thin to hide behind, the bushes make to much noise. The only place I could hide was the rock, a nice thick rock. It seems close enough to attack. Slowly I moved behind the rock where the doe couldn’t see me. Baring my fangs, I quickly came out from behind the rock and attacked the doe. I managed to harm the doe, but not kill. It should be dead if I attack again and it will be easier since it has weakened. I followed the blood trail the doe left swiftly. The doe was slow as expected, so I jumped onto the doe and bit the neck. The doe suddenly collapsed and finally was dead.
The doe seemed light enough to carry so I slowly put the doe on my back and walked back to shelter. I managed to get back into my shelter with the dead doe. I ate enough to last for at least a day and a half. I saved the rest for the night time.
The sun is now setting as I was searching for food and I found a river that doesn’t look frozen. It would be a good idea if I drink it before it freezes. So I walk to the river and take a drink, but while I was drinking, my ears perked up for something must be close. Sniffing the air, I caught a scent of a skunk. I knew not to attack a skunk like the last time I encountered one. It would blind me with its stink and it would smell horrible. I finished drinking and walked back to my shelter.
It was getting dark, but the full moon gave me a little bit of light. After I finished eating the leg of the doe I killed a day ago, I climbed on top of the cave, my shelter, and looked at the moon. I hope there was another lone wolf… a female wolf who toke the same path as I. Looking at the full moon, I raised my head and howled that asked if any wolf was in this very forest. There was no howl that replied. Nothing responded to my howl. I knew that it is time to travel elsewhere for food and seek for a new shelter. So when the sun rises, I will travel to a place with plenty of food and a good shelter. I went back into the cave and slept in the corner of the cave, felling so lonely.
I dreamed of my old pack I use to be with. The next morning, I would finish what was left of the doe. Then I brushed the mark I left that warned other animals that it was my territory. When the mark was gone, I left the forest for the first time, thus beginning my adventure into the outside world, where I have never gone before.

Part 2
This is the first time I left where I was born, the place I called home. But now I must depart this very place for the food has become scarce. I began my new adventure outside the forest for the first time, and the first time being all alone. I hope there will be something to eat… to survive…
Cold… so cold… there was no where to hide from the blizzard that continues to blow at me. All I see is just the plains, nothing else but snow all around me. I become cautious since anything could attack me anywhere. I walked away from the forest, keeping my ears down. The only sound I heard is the wind. When there was a lot of snow on me, I shake off the snow to keep myself from being cold.
A strange scent came by as I sniffed the air. It was something I never smelled before. I follow the path where my nose takes me. The scent became stronger and stronger. It seems that I’m getting close to where ever my nose is leading me to.
I finally arrive at strange shelters. I look around this strange new place. I felt tired and cold and I had no other choice. So I walked to one of the strange shelter and the entrance seemed to be closed. I looked around for another way to enter it. Then I saw another way and it was open, but it was a little high. I back away a little bit and crouch down to strengthen my jump. I managed to make it into the shelter.
I was surprised how warm it was inside. I also smelled food. I shake some of the snow off of myself before I searched for food. I found food in something taller than me. I tipped it over and find delicious food inside. I ate until I was full. After that I went into another place inside the shelter and jumped onto something soft and very comfortable. I fell asleep right away in this shelter that seemed to be nice.
I awoke when I heard noises that I didn’t understand. I heard, “Who did this to our garbage can?!” Then another noise, “Look over there, Brad! There is a wolf on that couch!” I heard an explosion and I saw a tall two legged creature holding something in his hands. I didn’t know what they were saying, but I knew I wasn’t safe any longer. I ran out the same way I came in. But the creature came outside and I heard another explosion. This time I felt something painful hit my front left leg, but I kept going and ran away from the strange place.
Now I’ve been running for awhile and I became weak. I lost my footing and fell forward, landing on my left side feeling more pain. I let out a small whimper and licked my wound. Later on, I started to walk again. I was lucky that I wasn’t killed by that creature I encountered earlier. The blizzard seemed to stop, but it was still a bit cold, and the snow was still on the ground. I found a new forest to live in. I could smell deer, fish, and other creatures. I find a river close to the forest, so I drank the water from it to help my dry throat and I wasn’t thirsty anymore.
After finishing, I walk towards the forest that I shall begin to explore. This forest seemed more different than the one I lived in. I should start exploring this new place and find shelter before the weather is bad. I shall live in this forest until there is nothing more to eat or the weather is bad enough that I would have to go elsewhere. If there is no shelter that is good enough for me, then I will look for another place to rest and heal. So I enter a forest and start searching for a shelter before anything else to survive.

Part 3
A new forest awaits me to live in. A better forest it may seem, for I began to search for a shelter. I can sense the creatures within the forest, but may there be new creatures inside this forest? I shall began explore the forest. But first, I need shelter, and then I shall search for food.
I start searching for a shelter to protect me from bad weather conditions. It was a bit warmer than before and the sun was disappearing on the other side. It didn’t matter if the sun wasn’t up or not for I can see perfectly at night as I can see during the day. I looked around for something that can cover me from the snow, rain, or hail. This time there was no cave around, but I kept looking. All I found were trees, everywhere I looked. Suddenly, I found two trees with a lot of leaves leaning against a strong, thick tree. Maybe both of the trees fell over because of the blizzard. That place seemed to be a fine place to rest. So I marked the thick tree to claim it my territory. I curled up in the middle of the three trees and slept for the rest of the night.
The sun came up and shined upon my eyes, thus I awaken from my sleep and I began to yawn. I should start looking for food now. I sniffed around for any scent of any creature that I could find. I felt the emptiness of my stomach and began to think of myself eating a doe making me feel so hungry. My nose finally catches a scent from the air. This scent seemed familiar somehow, but I can’t remember what the scent is. No matter what the scent was, I continued onward. Cautious and quickly, I let my nose lead me to this creature I shall kill. I went around trees, crossed rivers, and walked over rocks.
The scent took me to a cave to a creature who already claimed it. Then something came to my thoughts quickly. No… it can’t be… I finally remembered that creature. Suddenly, a loud roar came from the cave. The huge creature with brown fur came out of the cave, running towards me. It was the same creature who killed my sister when I was still a cub. As the thought came back to me, I jumped sideways as the brown creature missed. I felt anger within me thus making me more aggressive, baring my fangs, and growled. The creature again attacked this time, hitting me in the back, knocking me off my feet, hitting a tree, then fell to the ground. Pain came to me that I never felt before, but I got back to my feet. I did feel a little weak, but I didn’t give up. I ran swiftly towards the bear, jumped, and bit the brown creature’s neck as hard as I could. The brown creature roared louder than last time. It threw me to the ground and I was shocked that the bear survived my powerful bite. I got back up, but the brown creature again hit me with its claws, knowing me to the right. I was lying on the ground and I felt weak. I struggled to get up and stand on my feet. Maybe if I can just attack him at the same spot, it will die. I gather all my strength, ran to it, jumped, and bit the brown creature’s neck very hard.
Finally, it roared in pain, and fell over to the ground. I killed the brown creature, for the first time. Tired and weak, I sniffed around for any other creature like the one I killed. There was no sign of anything within the cave. Relaxed, I mark the tree next to the cave and dragged the brown creature into the cave to eat. I was again lucky to have killed such a powerful creature in this forest. I finished half of the dead creature. I still felt pain on my back. I licked my wounds clean as the sun was on top. Weak and tired, I went next to the wall, curled up, and slept for the rest of the day.

Part 4
The brown creature I encountered in the past finally I vanquished… killed that powerful beast. My wounds are still healing and I feel too weak for hunting. For now, I found a better shelter than the other one I found yesterday. I was relieved to have a shelter that can protect me from bad weather.
The Sun rises above the sky and shines upon my face thus awakening me to a warmer temperature than yesterday. I rose up to my feet and yawned. So I began my morning with some leftover meat from the creature I killed. I should find something to drink before dawn.
I went around the forest for any river or lake to drink out of. I finally find it and I ran towards the lake to drink. I was no longer thirsty thanks to the water I drank from the lake and I have regained my energy, but I still had some wounds from my back.
So I decided to go back to the cave and rest to let my wounds heal. I jump into the stream and roll in the dirt to mask my scent from any creature stronger than I. and I went back to my shelter. Once I arrived, I lay down and licked my wounds so it could heal faster. After cleaning them, I curled up and fell asleep.
It was almost dark when I woke up. I was getting thirsty and hungry again. So I stood up and yawned. It was time to hunt before I starve. I began to sniff the ground in search of a creature, but I seemed to catch no scent. I thought they were masking their scent from me. So I decided to go to the lake from this mourning to take a drink. While drinking, I caught a scent. It was a bit familiar, but I couldn’t identify the creature. I lifted my head and let my nose guide me to the creature I will kill and eat. The path my nose took me through was long. I traveled through rivers, over rocks, and around trees. The path suddenly led me out of the forest and I was going up hill. It made my path difficult and my wounds were still hurting, thus making the path uphill harder.
I finally made it to the top. I looked back to see most of the forest. I could even see the cave from here. I continued my search and came to a halt for I saw another brown creature. But it had horns and looked like a doe. It was a strange creature to me, but I couldn’t wait any longer.
I hid in the tall grass so the moose couldn’t see me. Stealthily, I walked closer to it. The creature was now within my attack range. Crouching, my hackles went up and I jumped. It turned and tried to run, but it was too late. I bit the creatures back and it made noise of pain as it fell. To finish it off, I bit the neck hard enough to cut off the air. The creature struggled very hard and couldn’t breathe. It struggled until it lay still as a log… dead. The creature seemed to be a bit to large to carry, but I didn’t care for I was hungry. I put the dead creature on my back and carried all the way back to my shelter. It took awhile and I was struggling with the journey back, but I managed to get to the shelter.
When I got back, I caught a very familiar scent, a scent that smells almost like me. I sniffed around the forest for a while and I knew I was getting closer. Then I came to a halt and I looked up. I found a creature like me, lying down on the ground. It was a female wolf. Could this be one that toke the same path as I? She whimpered which told me that she was injured. I saw that there was blood on her back. So I gave an “Uff” sound telling her I will carry her back. I licked her wounds, put her on my back, and I walked back to the shelter. I was no longer lonely…

Part 5
I finally find another wolf that toke the same path as I did. This wolf seemed to be special to me. I decided to bring her back to my shelter to clean her wounds and to feed her so she can survive. I learned that her name was Elena and she was the same age as I. So I decided to protect her from all creatures.
The sun rose from the ground and light struck my face, waking me up. I got up and stretched my fore legs and shook my body. I tore two legs off the creature I killed yesterday. I had one leg for myself and I put the other leg beside Elena. I nudge her back with my muzzle to wake her up. She did so and she yawned. Elena saw the piece of leg in front of her and sniffed it. After that, she started eating the leg. I tuned around and began to eat my leg too. When both of us were finished, Elena gave an “Uff” in a happy tone meaning “Thank you for helping me and giving me food.” I simply nodded letting her know that I said “Your welcome.”
Both of us were pretty shy to each other, but we got along quickly. Usually, when Elena goes outside the shelter, I would be on side her making sure she is safe. Later we became friends and would always go hunting together.
Everything was going well, until this evening. Elena and I were getting tired and thirsty so we got a drink from the lake. While we were drinking two enormous brown fur creatures attacked both of us, knocking me and Elena into the water. I swam to the surface growling at them. One of the brown fur creatures ran towards me. I jumped to the side of it and bit the leg, sending that creature down in pain. The other brown furred creature knocked Elena with its claw. She hit a tree and dropped to the ground in pain. Elena began to whimper. I heard the whimper and ran as fast as I could before the brown creature could bite her.
With a lot of power, I leaped at it knocking the brown fur creature down. It was angry now. It rose to its hind legs and knocked me to the ground with a strong hit. I was knocked out. I began to struggle to my paws, but the brown creature landed over me. I yipped and tried to escape, but it was no use. I was held under the brown fur creature. It opened its mouth. Suddenly, Elena jumped onto the brown fur creature, and bit the neck very hard, killing it.
I struggled to my paws again this time with a little bit of help from Elena. The other creature seemed that it fled far away from us. Both Elena and I were glad that we were safe. I was bleeding badly. I was becoming weak now and I fell sideways to the ground. As I was falling, Elena yipped and ran to me.
It was morning when I began to open my eyes. A wolf turned around and ran to me, wagging its tail. It was Elena! She was fully healed. I stood up and looked at myself. I was cleaned, but I was still bleeding a little. I walked towards her and I lay by her side. Elena lay by me too.
We suddenly became more than friends… We loved each other. Both of us wanted to start a new pack. So in the spring, we had our new pack. All of us were looking at the moon and I was by Elena’s side. At the same time, we all howled at the moon each with a different tone happily. Elena and I were no longer, lone wolves.
