Right, well done to Nezzy Da Nezz for winning last week's random topic on Global Warming. This week... the topic will be...

Are video games getting more and more violent, and should we stop playing them before we all turn into homicidal maniacs?

(And yes, Nezz, I DO know you don't actually possess a games console... but surely you've SEEN some games being played?)

((Hmmmm...))

I think the makers should tone their games down for bit less blood and gore and law breaking games. I have read in new papaers and online about people who have gone out and done what they learned in video games! There was a nine year old kid who lead police on a high speed chase through Seattle (where I live) and talked his way onto a plane. And how was this done. His mother sadly told reporters that he learn to drive from his video games!

Now, on that thought, maybe people could learn to use a gun, a tank, a helicopter?! There have been reports of car theft by video game geeks who learned to break into the cars from their car theft video games!

Homicidal miniacs are truly what what people might turn out to be in the next few generations. We need to cut down on the violent and bad thought provocing video games.

I agree. Let's just play Harvest Moon and learn to love nature and run our own farms. Then EVERYONE will be happy! mrgreen

In fact, I reckon Nintendo have the right idea when it comes to games - sure, they have their share of beat-em ups and stabby-stabby RPGs... but there's games like Harvest Moon and Wii Sports, which focus on the better things in life, such as regarding nature and keeping fit. All hail Nintendo!!

As far as I know, you can create a town and live with animal neighbours, go fishing, plant trees and generally be nice. You cvan connect to other people's DS's and they can visit your town. There's also contests like bug-catching, and fishing... and I think there's one for the best garden... yep... if only real life was as pleasent... neutral

So is Harvest Moon, and it's generally the same thing, apart from you can't customize your house. crying

Not all games have violence in, like Harvest moon or Animal crossing. But if they did ban all violent games, they would have to stop selling pretty much evry game. Icluding mario and sonic. Which is stupid. Yeah some games go over the top like, resident evil, and the age limits don't work because some parents just buy them for the kids anyway. But it's not every single game. They should ban ones that are really sick like resident evil (I hate that game). I wish people would stop saying it's the games that do it. It's not. Horror films are worse than violent games, but I've never heard anyone saying that they make kids turn into homicidal maniacs. Don't you think they should focus on those instead of having a go at the game people. I admit there are some games that should be taken off the shelves. Here the list I've made of those games, (these are the violent games I know of anyway):

The vice city games
Resident evil (I really really really hate those games)
That zombie game where you are the zombie
That bully game (People apprently killed themselves after playing that, but that was something I heard)
50 cent. I think his film was made into a game

There are more but I don't remember them. I try not to remember them. They give a bad name to gaming.
