i know there are different forms of depression, but i don't think i match any of the descriptions that well and my mother keeps on telling me im depressed. she says its because i've had alot of drama lately, but i think im taking it well. ill name a few things.
1. my dad was abusive to me. for example told me he is satan.
2. my friend got shot in the head, but he is still alive. blind in one eye 20/30 in the other eye hes kinda very lazy though from anti seizure medicine.
3. my grand mother died. it wasn't all that bad she had pancreatic cancer so we knew it was going to happen i talked to her a few days before her death. like i told her i loved her, i wished i woulda spent more time with her, and that i hope to see her in the afterlife. i did cry at the funeral my mom is sad cause she didn't see me cry and she thinks i didn't like her. she is constantly saying this.
4. since i moved in with my mom i suffer from insomnia and "transformed migrain head aches" as the doctor calls this, so i don't go to school i want to but i can't.
i think im dealing with this very well emotionally. i just don't see how this could mean i have depression when i don't think i show the signs.

Clinical "Depression" is kind of a misleading term. Also, it is usually just called "depression," which adds to the confusion. When someone is clinically depressed, they have a chemical imbalance. When someone is depressed, however, they are sad. A lot of people confuse the two. That might be what your mother is doing. She might assume that since you went through some tough times, you must be sad, which must mean you are depressed, which must be the same as depression. That just isn't how it works, however. Depression is not related to going through tough times. People go through tough times a lot, and they might be sad about it, but that does not mean they developed a chemical imbalance in their brain due to it! On the other hand, many people have a chemical imbalance even without tough times or sad events.
