So my mom bought me a "deck" of 78, reversible tarot cards. The deck, Tarot of the Moon Garden, I thought it would be a good beginners deck, and it just felt right.

Anyways, can anyone give me any advice? I got a book,

Tarot for Teens

and I was reading a part that talked about giving a reading. So do you read the cards from your view, or the person getting read view? I know you are suppose to face them, but yeah.

Okay, you are suppose to read according to your veiw and how you feel that the card is telling you.

I was trying to do a reading for Sona (just and easy three card spread) and I did that. Then I tried to do another one and I pulled all the same cards (expect for the one that was reversed, no longer was.) I just thought that was odd.

So, has this ever happened for anyone else? (Oh and I spread the cards out in 4 different spots before I reshuffled (another card came out when I was trying to do the first reading.))

Each deck reads differently. I have....four decks and they're all different. The deck hopefully came with a book specificly for it.

I actually disagree with that. I have different decks and they all say the same things except in a different persective or so.

Well yeah, the basic meaning of the card is the same, I ment some of the finer points are different.

I'm just going to comment on everything said thus far.

Tarot takes practice. The cards are just a tool to focus your natural intuitive abilities. You took a step in the right direction by choosing a deck that felt right to you. The cards should say something to you through their individual meanings. So it's good to memorize the card meanings that come in the little book that comes in the deck box. It's like a foundation to work from. As you practice and meditate on the cards they will begin to have their own voices.

This is true for different decks as well. I love my William Blake tarot the best because that deck feels right however, I'll still use my cat people tarot and my other decks if I think the situation warrants it.

The cards themselves will always say something but it is the reader that gives the reading the humanistic quality that leads to a better interpretation of the cards. If you have true psychic ability then you are blessed, if not, try to attune yourself to the voices of your cards.

I hope this helps. Really, practice makes perfect. Doing the one card reading is best until you start to feel familiar with the cards. Once you have the cards mastered so to speak you have to then apply the different positions in the spread which changes the tone of the card. So that's why I say to start out with the one card spread but that can get boring. I deviated from it a lot when I was first learning but my readings are much better now.

I'm still not that great but I think I'm ok at it for not being a psychic.

Good luck!

Well, for me, mediation above all else. When I first got my tarot cards, I figured the detailed meanings wouldn't apply to all situations, so what I did was memorize most of the keywords and looked at the symbolism that were on the cards. This works best for me and you can make your own variouation to help you to become better at divineing.

Personally I've had good results having them sitting next to me. That way they see the cards the same way I do. I've never heard that you're supposed to face them, that sounds to me like someone who has had good results with something and thereby assumes that it's just what has to happen. Honestly, though, I'd say find the way of doing a reading that works for you and don't just assume what you read is what must be done. Anyway, there's my two cents.

Since the layouts you find are, for all intents and purposes, facing you, you would lay out the cards the same way. Where the person you're reading for sits really has no bearing, just so long as everyone is comfortable. smile

Do you mean you did a readign fo rthe same issue twice?

Oh, and I read somewhere that you should probably do one reading for one person/client every three.... was it weeks or months? Well, one of the two.
