HEY LURKING PLERS! YEAH YOU! hi, if you didn't already know, but the brick through the window thing - it's all sarcasm, smart ones. I don't bomb clinics etc. and you'd be just as mad if a planned parenthood parked itself right next door to you. I just don't like seeing mutilated still born pictures when I'm going out to lunch. and it I get another PM bitching me out about this - I'm reporting you. Seriously. Noticed this weekend that not more then TWO blocks from my house, a brand new RTL (Right To Life) center.
-cries-
Since I'm only a minor there isn't anything I can do(to try to get rid of the center etc.), right? I mean bricks threw the front window, spray painting obscene things, and all sounds nice BUT I really don't want to end up in jail -yet. They haven't started yet, but I know the onslaught of flyers through the mail about abortion, road side abortion protesters and so on are only in a short future.
Anything I can do to make they're lives miserable, jobs harder, make it known they aren't welcome?

Remember, it's not a crime if you don't get caught wink
Joking aside, I don't think criminal activities are the way to go. They might make themselves into martyrs or something and you'd be the one in the hot seat. I'd just do some peacewful protest outside the building or something (do it on a sidewalk, not literally in front of the building - that way they won't be able to kick you off). I'd suggest making up some brochures with real info and what they'll do/tell you. Check out their website before you do this for some ammo.

>D Stand outside and hand out fliers with facts about abortion (you can probably get them for free from Planned Parenthood or other organizations).
There's no reason you shouldn't be able to stand outside and "help" their customers like they "help" women seeking abortion.

That's why you do it at night dressed in all black and take your most gullible friend with you so you have a look-out. DUH. rolleyes
Less illegally, you could go in and just take up their time. Take too many brochures, ask dumb questions, loiter, etc. Oh, and if they put up those stupid signs on the side of the road like real estate agents and churches do, RIP THEM UP. People can pay for advertising like everybody else... *has a deep-seated hatred for those damn things*
Or you could peacefully protest. But that's boring. Tch.

The peaceful protests sound like excellent ideas. If there is a local paper or something, perhaps try to find out about writing an op-ed? Somebody in my area posted one called "Roe vs. Wade Should Not Be Celebrated" and I wrote in with an opposing opinion. It got published!

Somebody in my area posted one called "Roe vs. Wade Should Not Be Celebrated" and I wrote in with an opposing opinion. It got published! You know - that might actually work. razz But I still have my doubts.
Heres why it might work though. I'm one of the journalist's for my school's yearbook. and my school's yearbook is in the US top 50 yearbooks. we're like prize winning and all that bull crap, so naturally my english teacher (who shouldn't be teaching english mad btw) who is also my yearbook advisor is known by all these journalistic socities, the local newspaper's big and small etc. If I asked her for a job as a journalist etc. she might be able to find me one.
But here's my doubt. Even though the city I live in is pretty liberal in a sense, it's still packed with churches and was orginally founed by the polish - which happen to be some of the staunchest catholics around. Now, even though their grip on the city's politics has lessened with time - they still have a big say in things, and what they don't like - gets heard. I remember seeing in the news a few weeks back about a transvestite who wanted to open up a hair salon in one of the downtown empty spaces (which direly need to be filled and are empty because of the bad economy) was being denied a permit by the city because she...........er he is a transvestite.

Yikes. Blatant discrimination, much? Well, I would still try to write an editorial. This is what I got published: Quote: This article was extremely eye-opening and informative, although not in the way the author intended. It served as a chilling reminder to women that their right to bodily domain (control over all decisions regarding what happens to their own body, based on the fact that it is theirs and not the property of the state or any human being other than them), while still legally protected, is under vicious assault. Antiabortion protestors have shut down clinics, a few individuals who believe that a fetus is sacred and a doctor a moving target have murdered for their cause, while still others have threatened and terrorized clinic workers out of practice. The demonization of women who have abortions and the perpetuation of medically unsound myths have strengthened the “pro-life” cause. Legislation to illegalize and restrict abortion (including the South Dakota ban and the recent props 73 and 85, which aimed to place pregnant teens at the mercy of their potentially-abusive parents) has come up all over the country. Indeed, the threat to women’s reproductive freedom is greater than ever. This article reminded me that Roe vs. Wade was a huge step forward for me and other women, and that I will still have to fight all my life to defend my basic human rights because some people still believe that I have no right to remove a zygote from my body. I was reminded that people would still rather have women die from a coathanger or the hand of backalley amateur "surgeons" than be able to terminate a pregnancy safely and legally. I hope these figures inspire more young women and men to celebrate and defend the right to choose. Thank you for reminding me why I celebrate every January 22nd. Sincerely, .... And I still live in a fairly conservative place, San Diego's East County. But they published that!

I suggest infomation. Knowledge is power, right? So maybe just hopping around, chat about it with your friends-
OH!!!! Take one of their fake fliers, CORRECT it in sharpie, cite sources like American Cancer Association, and make photocopies to paste up!!!

Well, everything's pretty much been said.
I'm just offering my fullest encouragement, and hope you can make a difference. Those centers shouldn't even really be allowed in my opinion, but what can you do xP
Go for it!

I agree with everything that has already been said. 3nodding I actualy just learned that there are representatives that are trying to stop the funding of crisis pregnancy centers. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/news-articles-press/politics-policy-issues/crisis-pregnancy-centers-report.htm planned parenthood Rep. Waxman's report found that an overwhelming majority (87 percent) of CPCs reached in the investigation provided misleading, medically inaccurate information about abortion. CPCs often withhold essential, medically accurate reproductive health information from women who are led to believe that they are visiting a neutral and objective medical facility. Despite the fact that the women who come to them are clearly sexually active and at risk for unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infection, CPCs lecture them about abstinence instead of explaining contraception, if they provide any sexual health information at all.
