I felt a topic should be made... and this seemed a pretty expansive subject.
Just to set things in motion and get everything out in the open, why not just say a little bit about what your stance on politics is, and which side of the board you see yourself on.
Personally I take opinions from both sides.. I don't consider myself 100% one way or the other, and I'm certainly open to ideas.. But in most ways I am proud to consider myself a loony, lefty, whining, protesting, bleeding heart p***y liberal! =D GO TEAM!
So.. all metaphors aside, what do you consider yourself to be, if anything? Who do you vote for? Do you vote at all? Would you do it when you're old enough?

Mine is Liberal Republican! (Liberal, meaning I support gay rights [so I just treat them the way I treat others and don't give a crap. wink ] and Republican because there's more that I agree with in that party than the Democrats, thus I'm a slightly right moderate.)
Sad to say now, but I supported Bush both times he ran. Now, I don't. I want change, but I don't want a typical democrat who just whines and just says what the people want to hear and creates a huge issue out of something that has been going on for thousands of years, and there's no way to stop it. (IE, lack of peace, global warming.) If there were real peace, we'd all love each other, and we'd be living in Paradise. And, if global warming is melting the ice caps, then WHY THE ******** WAS IT SNOWING SO MUCH IN WASHINGTON?! It NEVER snowed here that much! Seriously. Plus, the global warming thing has been brought up because all liberals do is complain, and they got tired of complaining about the war, because they think everyone in America agrees with them, and now they want to complain about the snowy weather we've had in Seattle and call it global warming.
Oh, but, if Cheney is running, I ain't voting for him. I'm probably going to go for Obama, a Democrat (YES. I KNOW. But he's better than Hilary Clinton!) because the Bush Administration is just so... grargh.

Hmm... Let's see:
I am against the war, but I am also against the idea of bringing our troops home, because then all the people that have died would've died in vain.
I am against gay marriage. They need to come up with a new word for it, as "marriage" is the legal joining of a man and women in matrimony. I have nothing wrong with gays, but it's not "marriage."
I am for abortion and capital punishment. I am very misanthropic and one cannot call themselves "pro-life" if they're for one and against another. I hate people and children; go figure.
I believe that the government shouldn't support the poor and lazy and that we should ascend on our own. The only people who should be on welfare are people who are mentally or physically incapable of working. Don't pop out babies you cannot support.
I am against illegal immigration, and believe that if anything, they should bend to our will. They should learn our language and assimilate or go back to Mexico. I say we catch illegal immigrants that are hopping the border, force them to build a border wall, then send them back over it in a catapult.
I don't believe in gun control. When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. Ever notice the correlation between cities that ban carried concealed weapons and crime rates? As the bans get stricter, the crime rate climbs.
I also believe in free enterprise and that the government should play as limited a role as possible in our lives; basically by holding the structure together, not being the entire ******** Censorship. talk2hand
I also believe that affirmative action is nothing but reverse discrimination. (Coming from a white woman)
I hate all politicians. Stupid people deserve a stupid president.
I don't know what that makes me. I guess I'm a centrist with right tendencies.

Bleeding heart liberal, just like IceintheInk.
I am totally for gay marrige. If two people love each other, why can't they have the right to marry?
I am against the war and am for backing out. We have no reason to stay there and they want us out. If they want to bomb themselves up and destroy their nation, I say let them.
Same as Rainbows; I am for both abortion and capital punishment. Why should a woman be forced to keep something that only gets in her way? And, as stated in Rainbows' Myspace, Young mothers, 12-14 are at serious risk for giving birth. As for capital punishment: Kill the bastards. A few less people in the prison systems to deal with.
I'm not sure what to think on Illigal immigration. Ship them back, I guess. <******** censorship to hell.
Global Warming? Nothing I complain about. Hot weather is common in Kansas. I think I'll survive if the temp. goes up a few degrees. As for little snow in the winter, I think I'll live if I don't get to sled down KU campus hill. And, if you look, you'll see that global warming has a pattern. It will go up at one point, then down at another, then up again. It's just a little high this time.
I'm going to miss this election, but I'm definantly not voting for Hillary Clinton.

Even though I am young and will only be 16 during the next elections, if I COULD vote I would vote for Obama. I think that there has been a Clinton in office too long (even though we have Bush now). Also I feel that America Is not ready for a female President, the male population would probably go into an outrage.
Personallly, (even though I am young I have an Opinion) I would vote for whom ever I felt would do the better job for my country. I s'pose that makes me a liberal? I also agree with Your WOrst Nitemare. Gay Marriage should be legal everywhere. Here in Jersey it is, but they are not permitted to say they are married. And this war...needs to stop.

Ah damn. I like to be a suck up and try to agree with our mighty guild leader whenever I can but... How old are you, Rainbows? Some of your ideas seem pretty naive. Marriage is just a joing of two people together. If you disallow gays from marriage, you are taking away their rights as a person. What would be the pupose of taking it away from them? If they want to have a wedding, let them have it. And about illegal immigration, do you like fruit? Do you like milk? Do you like bread? Do you know who harvests our crops for us? Illegal immigrants. All of our agraculture depends on them. They do the jobs we don't want for us! It's how our economy works.
I consider myself liberal, might even be green if they could get their act together...

Holy s**t, the bunny man makes a good point.
And to John D. W., I agree America may not be ready for a female president (although Geena Davis is doing her best to help), but do you think it's any more ready for a black president? I hope so. But I've met people who would rather see Bush in again than vote for either of the other two.

I'll admit, you do make some good points. But, about illegal immigration... You say that they're the ones who work our farms and such but from what I've seen, they don't just work our farms, they also take other jobs that would be much better suited to someone who speaks English fluently and taking jobs from others. If all they did was work on farms and such, I wouldn't have a problem. But that's the thing. They don't just work on farms and they do take other jobs. And about gay marriage, I said that I had nothing wrong with two gay people being joined, I just don't believe marriage is the proper term: Dictionary mar·riage –noun 1. The social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc. I just find the term "homosexual marriage" to be an oxymoron. If homosexuals are joined in anything, it shouldn't be the equivalence of true matrimony. I would have no problem if they legalized "gay marriage," I would just think it's an improper term. Call me naive, if you wish; that's just what I believe.

Okay, I can see your point on gay marriage. But, if you think that it's immigrants that are taking away all our jobs... I would have to say you are wrong. The real job problem comes from our lovely corporations outsourcing jobs to different countries. And you can't blame in on people in India or Korea either. Blame the corporations. In comparison, immigrants are only a very minor problem.

Oh man, who'd want a job at Taco Bell?
Hopefully, if I get the class I want next year, I will get a great pay like 20 bucks an hour for my first job out of high school. surprised No need to work with illegal Mexicans at a lowly job!

I wouldn't say they're taking all our jobs; if you misinterpreted, I apologize. I meant I dislike when they take jobs that involve interaction in English and they are unable to perform the job well because of the "language barrier." I guess I was a little extreme when I stated my views on immigration, I will admit. I will agree though that outsourcing jobs is a problem; it's all about finding cheap labor. The Chinese will work for such low wages compared to Americans. I can see your comparison of immigrants to corporations and the point you're making.

i consider myself liberal.
i am against the war. i think that America just needs to mind their own business. but Rainbows, u do make a good point about the soldiers that died, dying in vain.
i am for gay marriage and gay rights. i kno that as defined by the dictionary, it is the union between a man and a woman, but calling it something else would seem like they're still being discriminated against. gays should also get equal rights [i think that EVERYONE desires equal rights] cuz they're people the same as u and me.
i am for abortion. i simply think that women should be able to choose for themselves when it comes down to it.
i am against censorship [i just gave a speech about it in Business Law class today...]. if we are censored, it violates our rights. it also restricts people from hearing different, radical points of view that need to get out there.
illegal immigration...hmm...well, Americans were illegal immigrants when we invaded Texas, which back then was Mexico. so i agree that certain jobs need to have the 'restriction' of needing to speech the language fluently, but maybe the Mexicans are only doing what they saw the Americans doing way back when and saw that it worked out for us.
i agree that we need diversity in the white house, but if we have a black president, im afraid of the southerners who still believe in white supremacy will do...i could just see mass choas on capital hill :[
as for voting, i cant yet. i definitely will when im 18 tho. it will depend on who i agree with most and who i feel is there for the benefit of the people and their rights.

Not in a violent or abusive way.. but just in that casual "Look at that black guy, he looks shifty." kind of way.. It's worrying cause he's a really decent guy in every other aspect and I think there are lots of people like him out there. I would LOVE a gay president. And I mean that seriously.

I think that marijuana should be legalized. we need to concentrate more on getting the real criminals in jail like murderers and rapists, not druggies. plus prisons would be less crowded if we didnt have to jail dealers and users. i also think that the drinking age in U.S. should be lowered to 18. a lot of other countries have it that low [U.S. is actually the highest] and it works for them.
