the Day had been far longer then Jayce would have liked. he found himself being farther and farther away from home then he would have liked, though why he wandered away at all, way beyond him. most of it of cource had to do with the fact that his Uncle rarely stayed home, he was always off somewhere else, not necessarily doing anything, but just away.
Jedrek could sometimes sit for hours on end, doing absolutely nothing. and while Jayce did not actually enjoy this. he had to admit, it taught him a great about of patience. well... with waiting at least, he was not very patient with other Numa.
the sun had set, but the sky still glowed a deep royal blue by the time Jayce finally returned home, feet dragging, head low. though he could not see his home yet, he could smell dinner being prepared, he was particularly hungry, having snacked on his small horde of stale candies that day. it was a comfort, to be with his family during meals.

Hiding among the branches of a tree near home Fiara was playing with the fire on her hand, she had gotten better control but was still not satisfied with her abilities. After crisping leaves for most of the early evening she was now bored, hungry and smelling slightly more singed than usual.
With a yawn she dropped from the tree, just before turning for home she spotted her little brother making his way towards her, Fiara smiled for her brother and raised her flaming paw in a wave.
"Jayce! Good evening!" She waited from him to reach the tree before she turned and keeping pace with him headed towards the smell of Xiang cooking. Fiara missed spending time with Jayce, she loved her spooky brother, he was much calmer than Zenith. Fiara wondered where Jayce had been spending his time, she hoped he wasn't alone all the time, she knew that he like to be with their Uncle Jedrek so maybe that was where he was?
Glancing at him sideways she asked "How was your day?"

head perking up as the familiar sound of his sister, eyes spotting her easily in the dieing light, for she always had the ability to draw attention to herself with that flaming hand. a smile creped about his lips underneath his skull.
he liked his sister. she was the only female he enjoyed being around, and he always enjoyed watching her work with the fire she possessed.
"hey Fiara" he greeted, watching as she stepped next to him.
then rolled a shoulder at her next question "it was a Day" he said "some little flowery girl was stalking me though out half of it. I'm exhausted"

"An admirer Jay~?" Fiara used the shortened nickname, something she had adopted from their fiery father and she smiled knowing that Jayce didn't take kindly to other numa easily. "What happened?"
When they were in sight of the camp their family was calling home for the night Fiara noticed that Xiang had built a fire on the ground and was grilling swedish fish and had already washed a bowlful of berries.

"she just kept following me around," he said though a slight growl "claimed she wanted to be my friend"
he sniffed, raising a claw and rubbed it over his nose. looking ahead as there camp site came into view.
he was glad to be home.
"hey dad" he said as he drew closer, taking a seat as he came into the camp. glancing over at Fiara.

"Hi daddy~" Fiara called, ever her fathers' little girl. Xiang looked up from his cooking and greeted his pups with a grin, "Jayce, Fiara, there you are! Hungry?" He went back to his cooking but his kids knew that if they needed him he always had both ears open for them.
Fiara settled on a scrubby patch of grass, the area around was dry and the ground was hard but she preferred sleeping in a tree anyway so she didn't think about it much. "What would be so bad about having a girl for a friend?" Fiara didn't know if Jayce shared Xiang's dislike of the more flighty gender, well it wasn't exactly dislike was it. Fiara wanted her brother to be happy and to her that happiness extended to having friends.

"its not that she's a girl" Jayce explained, scooting a bit closer to her and relaxing his posture, sprawling his lanky body on the grass and sighing.
lifting his head up to look back at her he blinked softly "I just didn't want anyone around. and she kept following me. I donno, just bugged me"
he watched his father cooking the fish for a moment. then turned back to Fiara "and what about you? what did you do today? set anyone on fire yet?" he added with a cackle

When Jayce relaxed more Fiara leaned over and rested her head on his body and looked up at the night sky above, Ja made a good pillow. "Did you tell her that?"
At the camp fire Xiang was listening with half an ear, Sometimes it's not easy to just say what you want to daughter of mine.
Fiara held her right paw in the air she knew it amused her brother when she burned things but she wasn't expecting the next words from his maw. "Jayce! I don't want to set anyone on fire, that'd be horrible." She hadn't told her brother about the incidents where she had accidentally set things burning, she was sure that he thought she had control over it.

"yeah I did" he sighed. looking up at the sky, makeing out star patters that matched those of his father and sister. he refrained from telling them that he had even used force, while he knew they would probably not be to angry, it might upset them to learn.
he didn't know why he didn't like other Numa. they just made him uncomfortable.
he glanced down at his sister, who was using him as a pillow, catching her eye and smirking playfully,
"oh come on sis. I was only playing" he let out an echoing laugh "besides, what if they deserved it? I coulda' used your gift back with that flowery girl"

Then again maybe it was, Xiang finished grilling the final piece of fish, he had tried something new this time flavoring them with crushed lemon drops. Placing each portion on a plate he wondered where Zenith was this night, not that he worried about the pup he just liked having the family together for dinners. Renem would be back soon enough with marshmallows for dessert, so his fish shouldn't get cold but if it did Xiang would heat it up again for him.
"Does that mean that you want your big sis to protect you still Ja?" Fiara tried to keep her mood light, but really the idea of burning someone bothered her, what would someone do to deserve being burned, unless they had hurt someone she loved she couldn't imagine even thinking of doing it.
"Who was this over zealous girl, maybe I know her?" Xiang handed a plate each to Jayce and Fiara before retrieving his own and the bowl of berries, he sat near his kids but still separate from them too, enjoying the night breezes.
She accepted the plate with a quick "Thanks." and looked back to Jayce her fiery paw curled into a fist, "I'll give her what for if you want me too."

Jayce shrugged at his father, takeing the plate and sitting up next to Fiara
"I didn't ask for her name, she seemed to know mine well enough though." he cocked his head to the side,
"thanks dad" he said, picking up one of the Fish on his plate, and nibbling on the tip of his tail. paused, then held it out for Fiara "hey sis? mind helping me out a bit?" he asked, nodding towards her flaming hand.
Guided by the light of his home, mate and child, Renem soon returned. a basket of Marshmallow flowers tucked under one arm.
he smiled softly, setting it down and walking around to sit next to Xiang, giving his a gentle kiss.
"hi"

Grinning wide at her brother, Fiara held her right paw under Jayce's dinner; thought Xiang had told his kids that when he was a pup he usually scorched or burnt his food for fun and then ended up eating it that way, he never overdid dinner less he was distracted while cooking. He said that his pups would have a proper meal if he could help it, not quite picking up on the fact that Ja liked his dinners burnt or stale. When Xiang was looking elsewhere, that is he was busy kissing Renem and then getting his mate his dinner, Fiara set to crisping Jayce's fish for him. Red splotches of melted fish sizzled in Fiara's palm but she did not feel the burn.
"Renem," Xiang returned the warm greeting and kissed his mate for a moment enjoying the feeling of everything going right, behind his back Fiara was blackening Jayce's dinner and Xiang made a mental note to remember to cook his dark son's food more throughly in the future. "Here sit, I just finished cooking." He gently took the basket and set it aside and handed Re his plate.
Through dinner Fiara would grab a few berries for herself, blacken half and drop them on Jayce's plate, they had always done this and Xiang had not caught them, she didn't think he would have really cared if he did but for them it was more fun than just doing it out-right. "That makes me think she must be a friend of yours' daddies, if she knew Jayce and he didn't know her. Maybe she was trying to hard to be friendly because of that?"

he watched silently as his sister scorched his fish. glancing up only at the mention that there fathers might knew the girl who was following him
"I guess that makes sense..." he turned his gaze onto his two fathers. raising a hidden brow at there usual sweetness towards one another
"but why would one of your friends want to stalk me around?"
Renem blinked, looking from the glow that was Fiara's hand, and to the blackened blob where Jayce's voice was emitting from.
having come in a little late. he didn't say anything at first. looking at Xiang and taking the plate from him. scooting down to get more comfortable next to his mate. "what was she like?" he asked feeling around the plate for the food.
Jayce turned to his starry father, and blinked thoughtfully "girly... talked allot... wore allot of flowers, so its not a surprise she smelled like them to"
he answered. turning back to his burnt fish.
Renem raises his eyebrows and glanced up at Xiang. "oh... well i guess we do know her."

Fiara looked at Xiang and Xiang was looking at Renem. "Why indeed?" Their fiery father looked almost embarrassed, but that wasn't quite right.
"Azami?" Xiang spoke her name, the girl that was a complete mystery to him, he wanted it to be someone else, just so he didn't have to try and explain to his grown pups, his choices.
"Azami?" Fiara echoed the name, to her it sounded familiar, but she didn't think that she had met a numa by that name. "Does that name sounds familiar to you Jayce?"
"If it was Azami, she's being honest when she said that she wanted to be friends, I believe. I don't always understand 'zami. And it been a while since I've talked with her..."

Jayce paused, half way though a bite out of the charred fish, flakes of it dropping off onto his chest as he stared at Fiara and considered her question. turning the name around in his mind.
"I don't think so" he answered thickly. though a mouth full of fish.
then growled, with a soft hiss following when his father had said she was serious
"well how do you make her stop. I don't want to be any-... her friend" he corrected himself. not wanting to upset his family to find out he was pretty much a loner.
Renem caught it, as he was sure the others did as well. but set it aside for the moment, there were some things Remen could set strait to Azami, but she was a sweet female, and a good friend of his, it was hard to hurt her feeling, and he didn't want to.
"I don't really know Son" he answered honestly
