So, I pretty much tried it at an immersion camp I went to and got lost. Then when I got home I downloaded the MP3, and I watched some performances on youtube and I think I'm ready to rock.
Does anyone know this song/dance? It's a folk song/dance about fishing.

It was the first song I learned on my Shamisen. ^^
I sing it as well. It's a great traditional song.

Yeah I know it well ... But when you dance it your legs turn painful because the movements on the sides make one of your muscles work ... Also I could find a weird remix on which we can do the same choregraphy. http://www.muzie.co.jp/download/155583/songs270/soran05a.mp3But the way, the site from which this song is coming owns a lots of amateur musics from Japan ... If you look well inside it you can find some marvellous musics ...

Well, I don't know about that particular song, but I did do a dance like that. It's called Yosakoi ( Yosakoi Info on Wikipedia) and It's really popular. In fact, the Japanese School near me is preparing for the Yosakoi Festival in Sapporo right now. The music is different but they all seem to have the Dokoisho Dokoisho Soran Soran thing in common.

Thank you very much for yosakoi ... In fact I was looking for a different dance that would be at least as fast and fascinating as the soran ...

I really like the Koto. I got the chance to play it while I was in Japan, I was thinking of taking some lessons, but I think it would be rather expensive. sweatdrop

When I was studying in Sapporo I went to the Yosakoi Soran festival. It was awesome! I wanted to join the public dancing, but I had to hold my friends' stuff while they danced...
