okay...so as i'm sure you all know, my big love is movies. NOT JUST FILM.
Kevin and I will rent almost anything and we can usually watch almost anything in the spirit in which it was made. Enjoying the comedy of Will Farrell in "talledega Nights" vs. the comedy of "Clerks" etc. We call it "watching with different eyes". It's useful. Watching a japanese horror film forexample is nothing like watching something like "texas chainsaw massacre" yet both have merit in the genre they're in.
So there's this guy on menewsha that posts to some of the same threads I do "Victor Von Doom" and he is just getting under my skin. I don't know why. chances are he's a really nice guy otherwise.
but he has this "cinematic breakthrough" noise coming out of his mouth and thinks that movies such as "sin City" and "Clerks" are somehow exempt from being on someone's bad movie list. And if they are then you have absolutely no taste in movies. And god FORBID you like something like some "tripe hollywood drivel" like "A cinderella Story" or something. ( in can't remember the movies he specifically named) then you have no taste at all.
In looking thru his other threads he also apparently prides himself on reading "quality" books as well.
This leads me to believe he's a college student...specifically an artsy fartsy film school student...or at least is taking film classes.
He's just burning my butt!!!!
(of course I also have lots of stress today cuz my granpa went in for surgery on his brain to remove a blood clot..he's stable but still)

ahhh i feel a little better.
this may get deleted shortly. I just didn't feel it blogworthy (yet) and i didn't want to post it on menewsha where it could be seen by him and possibly seen as flaming.

ahh . .the joy of film student- or those who think they know what is best for everyone.
I'm actually a library student right now and a big debate in collection development is quality vs demand - and honestly - who gets to decide what quality is?
I argued that something that people want to read (or in this case watch) and enjoy must have some quality about it - otherwise it wouldn't be in demand.!

Heh, I get a little miffed when I read posts where people are trashing a book or movie I like, but then I remind myself that everybody has their own opinions, and there are always people who like/dislike anything!
Some people, like it sounds like this guy, seem to go way above and beyond with their superior attitudes and make others feel like if they don't agree with THEM, they're obviously wrong! rolleyes
*hugs to you Jaz* and to your Grandpa! Hope he heals and recovers well! What a scary thing; brain surgery!

i'm glad you held back from ripping into him Jaz, he's probably just some kid who likes to polish his own ego.
i know that when you have some stress going on in your life it can erupt all over the place! i'm glad you feel better after having a rant here whee

He's probably 19 and probably has never seen any of the good black and white movies because he only goes to movies because he enjoys film, not to be entertained. probably lives in his mother's basement and has a lifetime membership to those questionable sites online. You know.. those ones you have to be 18 or older to enter, lol.
Either that or he is 35, alone, living with mother. He is alone because the woman don't want to hear his pompous a** speak. I imagine that he is like that about other subjects, not just movies.

I hope it made you smile at least. heart heart heart I saw and thank you!!!! latest update is that he made it thru the night, his vitals are all stable, he's coherent and alert but occassionally complains of a headache. He's still pretty doped up but things look good

Oh, I've seen that guy in the book forums! I think he's got some interesting things to say about what he's read, but he does seem to have a faint air of "I know more than you." I hope it's just me inferring stuff into his posts. However, if that's how he seems in the film forum, I'm glad I haven't visited there. I'll stick with books.
Kaz, whoa. I hope your grandfather continues to do better. *snug* I'm glad things are looking good.
