Is this the cure?
Ok, So I started branching off into this in the Egypt thread so I thought I'd just post another one. ^_^ Anyways, I don't have too much to say about Greek Mythology. I do like it quite a bit. As I like all Mythology. I suppose I could say "Roman" mythology too, but that's being redundant now isn't it? But yes, tell me about your favorite myth, your favorite god or possibly KRATOS KING OF THE SPARTANS!..... Ok too much God of War. And no he wasn't king. Though! Now that I say that you could discuss 300 as well. I heart 'd it. What did you think? Ok is that enough to stimulate you? Yes? No? Talk to me! Or is it the disease?

I love Greek mythology, and I've probably read far more Greek plays than most others my age, but it seems some literates here on Gaia like them as well, so... yay! On the subject of gods, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades are some old favorites, and recently I've grown a liking towards Prometheus after reading the play (Prometheus Bound). I still want to read the sequel which, to my knowledge, is simply called Prometheus Unbound. I like the way that, as you keep reading more plays, you start to realize that they're all connected in some way, usually by the human characters' bloodlines. My favorite character in all Greek mythology is, by far, Tiresias, the blind seer who was once turned into a woman, and had children when he was a woman, only to turn back into a man years later, most likely confusing his daughter and husband.
Roman mythology... different than Greek, but I like them too. Here my favorite gods would be Neptune, Mars, and Vulcan. Only one, or perhaps both, of my Vice Captains know my reasons behind choosing Vulcan. On a random side note, I heart Kratos, and really want to buy that game. I'll do that sometime. I've never heard of 300, so I can't really say much on it.

>> Only the blackest of heartsAll of my friends are completely enthralled by 300; "THIS IS... SPARTA!!"
I love Sparta. Anyway, see Kristen's post - our opinions are essentially identical (except I have a higher affinity for transgenders and homosexuals). Can feel the purest of love <<

I took a Greek and Roman mythology course last quarter. ^_^ I'm studying both of the languages, as well, so I run across the myths frequently (in fact, my last Greek final involved translating the myth of Narkissos).
I agree that Tiresias has a great story. I'd never read that he had children when he was a woman. xd Ovid, at least, tells us that when Zeus and Hera asked him to settle a dispute about whether men or women have more pleasure in sex and he said the latter, Hera struck him blind, and Zeus gave him the power of prophecy in compensation.
Medea is cool, too. She's one of (or the only?) mortal woman to successfully resist Zeus's advances, though she ends up being betrayed by Jason anyway...and, in some of the stories, killing their children in revenge. She's also a sorceress. Fun stuff.

Ooh yeah, Medea rocks. I've always thought she ought to have been a priestess of Athena. Would've saved her a lot of trouble and heartbreak and anyway, I like Athena. Goddess of Wisdom and War.... absolutely beautiful and totally virgin. She rules.
