Ariston stomped through the grass, sniffling here and there at all of the newly grown flowers. He had allowed himself to wander out into the sun, though he was always careful for the fear of getting sunburn. Using his wings as a slight shade, he continued forward stomping on sickly weeds here and there. They were the reason for his sneezing, anyhow.
The breeze was calm today, and it was a good day for flight. Ariston was considering doing so, but he continued to stomp forward, only because killing weeds was more appealing.

Running a wing through his curls, Guilian fluttered to a rest on the ground a few feet away from Ariston, a smile his face as he watched the white stallion busily stomping flowers. Somehow, when he'd decided to go seek out his friend, he hadn't quite anticipated this sort of behavior.
Still, there could be some meaning to it. Nothing made sense anymore these days, after all. But it never hurt to play safe.
That in mind, he smiled wryly before giving Ariston a greeting. "Am I interrupting anything?"

"No no.." He said, with a sniffle.
"My allegeries are acting up, so when I can I am trying to kill off as many of these damn flowers as I can." He said, chuckling.
Then, he looked at his friend closely. Something about him looked different, and Ariston couldn't put his hoof on it.
"You look, tired Guilian. Are you alright? How have you been?"

"Allergies? You know, I'd have never suspected you of being the type, Ariston...but I guess that it's something that only comes up when necessary, huh?"
Smiling, Guilian walked over to Ariston, that smile becoming rueful at Ariston's rather sharp assesment of the situation. Running one wing along his jaw, Guilian gave Ariston a slight, mirthless chuckle. "If I ONLY look tired, I'll consider it a blessing, friend. The way life has been treating me lately, I'm amazed I don't look downright haggard!"
That had been a very real worry, as a matter of fact, but almost manic consultation of handy bodies of water had managed to assuage his fears on that matter. That didn't make things any less chaotic, though.
"As for how I am...I do believe I've completely lost my touch, Ariston. How's that?"

"Seasonal.." He said, with a humorous growl. "It is ridiculous, I know."
With Guilian's next words, Ariston's eyes widened at the thought of it all.
"What?!" He said, obnoxiously. "Lost your touch! That may be the worst news I have ever heard. Do explain, Guilian. I am now quite worried about you." He knew that he was having Kalona problems, but where that went.. Ariston got chills up his spine.
"Is there anything I can do?"

In a way, it was nice to have someone actually concerned about HIM again. That was the way it was supposed to be, after all; others were supposed to do what they could to make HIM feel better. These days, it seemed instead as those others...particularly mares...wereout to do the complete opposite!
Still, in this sort of circumstance he wasn't going to milk it.
Sighing, Guilian gave Ariston a truly pitiful look. "Believe me, friend, it feels the same way to me. But what else can I call it when a mare that I have willingly enjoyed and been enjoyed by suddenly grows cold and accuses me of using her? Haven't I always been upfront about that? But no, suddenly it isn't enough to merely enjoy sex, now you have to sympathize on commitment to be tumble-worthy? I swear, it's like this desire to be mated is like a disease among the mares!"
He was pacing now, emotion from his words reflecting in his face and tone. "I don't get it. Izusa, now, I can understand; if you bare a stallion foals, then I suppose that there is something to be accepted about ideas of monogamy. But TWICE now I've been turned down by mares when they found out I have children. Is this to be the way of things, Ariston? Am I now doomed to be tied to one mare, simply because she conceived with me? I have to admit, I am at a complete loss!"
And he was, as anyone who knew him could likely tell now.

Ariston thought for a moment before he spoke. What Guilian was going through was indeed intense, so he wanted to make sure that he was upfront about everything, and also could give him the best advice possible.
"There is always the threat of a mare doing that, it is the easiest thing that they could accuse us of. That I would say you should brush off and ignore, only because it is such a bland argument." He flicked his tail, still deep in throught. "The only reason that mares desire such a thing as mating is for the security of course, I am sure Izusa, being a compulsive Kalona female, and this might be a suprise to you, is worried about her future alone bearing such a burden alone. When a female finally experiences the life issue of motherhood, their whole thought process changes."
Some of what he said was obvious, but sometimes all someone needed was to hear things over and over. "You will not be tied to one mare, Guilian. That I can tell you easily." He chuckled, and sighed quietly. "Right now, how could you possibly be on top of your game when you yourself are emotionally unstable. Give yourself a break, once your kids come out of their baskets, not only will you be blessed with the feeling of little Guilian's running around, but everything will begin to change for the better."
Guilian just needed to think about what would happen after this mess, rather then focus on the conflicts that were chasing him around now.
"Plus, once your kids grow up, others forget all about this stuff. Aand.." Another thought came into his mind. "If you have some dazzling children, mares may be attracted to you more. Every mare is a fan of good genes." He winked to his buddy.

Perhaps it was because what Ariston was saying was JUST what Guilian wanted to hear that it had such a good effect on the stallion; however, regardless of such details, the red stallion had ceased pacing as his friend spoke, his expression becoming thoughtful and ultimately ending in a smile.
"Perhaps you are right, Ariston; I admit that I haven't been quite on top of my game since this whole thing blew up; I was honestly beginning to think I was sterile or something before this happened, which, actually, wasn't that bad. However..."
Trailing off, he gave his friend a wink. "There are three of them; two males, one little girl. I wasn't around to see them before they were put into the baskets, but the baskets themselves are truly amazing and I don't doubt my children will do me proud visually when they appear. And I have already begun to plot for when they are old enough to accompany me..."
After all, what mare would be able to resist a virile stallion with such beautiful children? "I plan on teaching them the right way to live as soon as they are old enough to comprehand; the last thing I need is for my own CHILDREN to be indoctrinated by the prevalent belief of monogmay..."
Sighing, Guilian flopped down into the grass, squishing a few more flowers as he did so. Now that he was thinking about it, being a parent was going to be a lot tougher than he'd thought! He'd have to fight just to have a say, and he STILL hadn't finished hammering things out with Izusa...oy.
But this was depressing. CHANGE OF SUBJECT!
Glancing over at Ariston, he tilted his head curiously. "So, now that you've gotten to hear about my sad predicament...what have you been up to these days? And if you say you've got kids too, I might just cry."

Ariston smiled at the change in emotion from his friend, and also felt relieved that he was ok. Ariston knew his advice was correct, afterall, he was always right.
"Congratulations! I can't wait to see. Though, I doubt Izusa would allow such a thing, I was born as one who will always be hated by Kalona Females." He laughed louder this time, knowing how true that statement was. "I am excited to see, truly. You will be a great father. At least another generation will be taught the correct thing." He chuckled.
He watched his friend start squishing flowers, and he flopped onto the grow with him, though made sure to lay his hair neatly beside him. Since the grass was so cool and soft, the thought of lazily sitting felt brilliant.
"I am happy to try to help out when I can, so don't worry about me." He nodded, though thought about what he was up to recently. "I haven't had much of an interesting time myself. And no I am not a father, though I guess in a sense I am a bit jealous of you. I think having the opportunity to be a father would be wonderful. Though, I struggle with what female I would allow such a burden." He sighed, feeling a bit mixed up about the issue himself. "I will just have to watch how you handle it, and hopefully I can decide for myself."

A snort was Guilian's response to Ariston's comment on Izusa. "They are my children too, and if I wish to introduce them to you then such is my business. I am not about to be ordered about simply because of biology. Indeed, that only rarely worked when she was pregnant!"
Sighing, Guilian shook his head in dismissal of the memories of dealing with an expectant mother. Mares were meant to be enjoyed, not sources of harassment.
Dismissing those thoughts, Guilian gave Ariston an amused look at the last 'confession'. "Perhaps in this your more selective approach is the correct one after all, Ariston. Now that I know I am indeed capable of having foals, I suppose I'll have to be a bit more restrained with females in the future..."
However, no sooner had the words left his mouth than he was bursting into laughter at the very idea. He, restrain himself with females? Not likely!

He chuckled at Guilian's first reaction, and put his head back to squint at the sun. "That is why we get along so well, we both shake our hooves at this biology nonsense. I'm sure you had to go through a ton with her. Kalonas are always waving around the idea of a pure bloodline, pure my a**!" He brought his head back up with force, only because his hair had weighted him down so much. "I think a race like unicorns would have such, they really have such beautiful features." He winked to his friend.
The thought of Guilian being restrained seemed like a crazy idea, he was so free spirited, and always got respect from females. In Ariston's case, he had to work his way up towards respect.
"Well you know me Guilian, I can't help the fact that I obsess over these things. Besides, I don't think it should mean that you should restrain yourself more, I just think it is about being more careful.. around Kalonas." He let out a slight laugh, and then finished his sentence. "That is one reason why I feel awful for you. This whole experience could have been a better one with a different breed, though that is to say it may get better with time. Once the children come out, hopefully Izusa will begin her motherhood stage."
"Though, I hope that doesn't inquire that she will eat your children." Ariston gulped, widening his eyes at the thought. "Oh Guilian..."

Chuckling, Guilian shook the rose out of his mane and idly brought it down to study, the gesture an almost absent response to having to think. And yet, thinking of this sort was almost a pleasure.
Glancing over at Ariston, Guilian gave a short laugh. "You know, when Luca was harranguing me about the problems with being 'easy'...which, by the way, is a loathsome and detestable word, she told me that there was more to the desire to being mated than mere sex; she seemed to think that cameraderie was an integral part of the whole process. Now, you tell me if what we have is not cameraderie, Ariston? Note how I am able to talk to you about serious matters in a serious fashion? Yet, in spite of that, I must confess I have no desire to sleep with you, my apologies."
The wink that time was teasing on another level; after all, the whole reason he'd first met Ariston was that he thought the kalona was a female! But since getting over that initial disappointment, he'd come to like and even respect the kalona.
"I suppose the problem is that mares are unable to think as we do, yet that seems so strange. Under what circumstances would age force lonlieness? I don't plan on becoming a hermit when I'm old..."
But now he was changing the subject. Shaking his head ruefully, he brought himself back sharply to the task at hand. "Believe me, I have no intentions of wooing any more kalonas; a little roughness now and then is fine, but I like my hide intact. And as for the children..."
Smiling, Guilian waved a wing dismissively at the thought of infanticide. "Crazy as this might seem, Izusa has already bonded with our children, even to the point that her loathesome fox-thing is assisting in their guardianship. Tainted I might be...but no one is messing with our children, apparently."
Which, frankly, was both humorous and intiidating. "So...maybe you should try out fatherhood with a different race when you try?"

He could do nothing but laugh, Guilian was always a good one with his words. "I accept your apology, I must say I am disapointed, but I will live." Still laughing, he shrugged playfully at him.
"There are always going to be those that don't understand us and what we do, Guilian. For some, it reflects a sense of jealousy, and for others they just assume it is bad because they don't know anything about it." He sighed for a second, thinking about all of the idiotics he had encountered. "I don't find anything wrong with the idea of mating, I am sure it is a lovely thing. I think others also assume that we literally have no desire for it. I think you and I are just more open to other things, I mean I know I don't try to plan my personal life, I just let it happen!" He let out a light snort and smiled.
"I can't see you becoming a hermit; that just sounds creepy. Its so not possible, you are not only very social, but its like two opposite forming." It wasn't as if Guilian just sat around and lurked by himself all day, so why would he do such in his old age? "If anything, you will just get more suave as you get older!"
Poor Guilian, Izusa was quite a burden to bare. "Well, at least they will be safe." He nodded, though felt shivers at the thought of Izusa.
"Heh, I was shocked when I realized not all Kalona females act that way. One has skewed my thoughts of them completely. She is a good gal.." He trailed off in thought. "Its funny when you meet the complete opposite of yourself."

"Amen to that, my friend, amen to that."
Having agreement once in a while was a nice thing, alright; even though he and Ariston didn't always see eye to eye on everything, they had enough in common to allow the red stallion to simply kick back and enjoy the conversation when they were together. Even if those topics had changed a bit these days...
At Ariston's last little comment, though, it was Guilian's turn to wax interested. Tilting his head, he looked over at the white stallion. "Oh really? You've gotten tangled with one of those mares now as well?"

"Yes well, she is different though. And I wouldn't say I am tangled, strangely enough, I go out of my way to see her." He sighed, rubbing his hoof on the ground childishly. "Its nothing serious of course, I just enjoy her company..a lot."
He didn't want Guilian to get the wrong idea, he was still the multi-mare lovin' fool he had always been. Things had just gotten strange for him because he was enjoying a mare that much.
"She is a Kalona, oddly enough. But she doesn't stomp around and parade idiotic things. She actually hides, and I am trying to bring her out more. A beautiful speciman, that should be admired by all." Chuckling, he laughed at how different he and Heartless were.
"She has seen me looking my worse, and not even cared. I have never met someone like that, almost everyone judges me at first glance. I don't find the situation problematic, it is just.. different."
