It had been a few days since the child's arrival. Time spent adjusting to the fact that there was, infact, a new member in the household. Oh the space wasn't the problem, it was the time. Sometime the man was left wondering how he made time for life around the children. Because that was the biggest part of his life now.
Everything from meals, baths, playtime, to the current task. Shopping.
As cute as the child looked in the borrowed dress of loose cotton and lace that belonged to Shae, it was obvious that Mistral, as she was named, would be needing her own wardrobe. She had her own odd little quirks that deemed it necissary. So it had been the second order of business. Right after preparing a room. Which was what had led the man to his current location of peril.
The mall.
Haven of the masses and giver of all things lovely and shiny. Or in this case, covering. A wonderous place indeed, and one where a child could cause a lot of problems. Thankfully Missy wasn't a child, she was too young to cause much mischief beyond yanking an ear here or there to get attention. Something he'd come to terms with after the twins had moved in. Not that he liked it anymore.
At the moment the young spirit was too busy starring at the brilliant colours to be tugging at any ears. One hand trying to snatch at a scarf that tumbled past as another customer zipped by in their own hurry. Alas, once more foiled. A pout made it's way onto her features as she waiting for the next chance while leaning over her guardian's arm slightly. Another attempt, another failure. Well patience, patience... or at least until she noticed just where they were heading.
Eye's widened as she took in her first view of what a clothing store looked like. And what a blast. Endless rows of colourful things that would make great flufferbys, her new name ofr scarves. Great flutterbys indeed.
"Alright, let's find something that won't hurt your feathers." The man mumbled as he wandered in and began eyeing the racks. "Just why did you have to have those anyway?" The blond just couldn't figure out what purpose they could serve. Alas, it wasn't as if he could change anything.

It was that time of year again. Ashe had previously cleaned out her closet as was ready for spring shopping! She needed a whole new wardrobe to go with the new season! There was no room for old clothing and she didn't want to be an outfit repeater!
"THE MALL! THIS IS HOME!" Ashe yelled as she entered the sliding doors that led her to the mass of clothing, people, and food. "Thankyou thankyou thankyou thankyou!" she said to her Mom. "Thankyou for bringing me here Mommy!" Ashe said excitedly as she looked around, seeing what stores she wanted to go to.
One store caught her eye, and it was filled with accessories. Necklaces, headbands, sunglasses, bags, scarves, and much MUCH more! "Mommy! Let's go there first!' she said, pointing to the very colorful store. "I wanna buy some jewelry first! And maybe a new purse!" Ashe tugged on Ruth's sundress and pulled her into the store.
"Hmm...What is there to buy?" Ashe asked herself as she looked through all the shelves and spinny displays. She found really cute necklaces, so she grabbed those, and found a pair of yellow earrings, she also grabbed those. But on her way around the store, she bumped into a another person around the scarves.
"Oh! Excuse me!" Ashe quickly responded, dropping a necklace. Ashe bent down to pick up what dropped, and when she looked up, she saw a little blue girl, with pointy ears just like her! But with the girl was a older man, and Ashe couldn't help but greet them. "OH HELLO THERE!"

The child had already begun trying to snag at the rather colourful scarves as her pseudo father was peeking at the objects himself in an attempt to pick one or two that would be suitable. Not that the child much cared about the ones he had, oh no... she just wanted the most brilliantly coloured ting she could get. For the sheer fact it would draw the most attention.
And she found it, in a rather blinding polkadot mess. Why any sane person would want it would be beyond the normal human, but in the eyes of a child who saw it as a toy... it was perfect. So as the feline leaned over to fetch a deeper blue one from a pile the infant managed to curl her fingers around her own objective. Dragging it back as he once more stood at full height. Which earned her a skeptical look.
"Not in a million years." There would be lines drawn, and someting he was certain would leave him with headaches was one of those points. Still, he didn't get a chance to take the thing away as something bumped against his leg and a little clatter sounded. Both turned to look down at the noise as the child babbled an appology while plucking up the onject she'd dropped.
An interesting sight really. The girl was decorated in an array of already shiny objects and holding an array of accessories, each of which sparkling in the shop's light. Though perhaps the fact she had a little black tipped tail was more interesting than a child her age holding so things. That and the delicate ears not unlike Mistral's. If not a bit shorter.
"Uh, hello." How often did little children just pipe up and chat with you in stores? Didn't anyone say that strangers could be dangerous anymore? Ah well, not that he should be complaining. At least she was polite. "How are you today?"
Mistral eyed the creature a moment longer before returning to trying to tug her toy towards her. Shaking it a bit to get the thing to flutter like the other's had. Then blowing at it eagerly. It didn't work quite as well as the others, but just a little. Just a slight flutter which earned a gleeful giggle. Bright things should fly lots, they looked better when they were moving.

"I'm GOOD! How about you?" Ashe said as she kept on looking up. "My name is Ashe Sinclaire by the way! I'm here shopping with my Mommy! How about you? Are you buying dresses with your Mommy too?"
But before the man could answer, her eyes turned to the little girl, who was shaking some toy. She came up closer to the girl and stared at her, her eyes widening. "Hi." she said plainly. "You're cute." she added.
The Ink Princess quickly turned to the older man with the little girl and asked with a large smile, "Can I have her?"

Perky little thing wasn't she? The question was where this Ashe child's parent was. He didn't exactly see a mother hurrying up at the moment. Ah well, she must have been there somewhere. "No, I'm not with my mother. But I am buying clothes for Mistral here." He bounced the child in his arm's at the mention of her name before eyeing the scarf that Mistral was still trying to toy with. The answer was still no. That think was hideous.
"My name is Raja, and this is Mistral." No last names, he really didn't have one as far as he knew. And if he didn't have one, well Mistral didn't have one ot inherit from him. "It's nice to meet you."
Though even as he answered she'd already turned her attention away from him. Down to Mistral who only gave her half a second of notice for it before tugging at the cloth more and even going so far as to tug it closing to her as the other girl neared. Her face twisting into a bit of a wary frown. This was her toy, she wasn't handing the thing over. Her fluttyby toy thing.
And then the little bomb as the girl was back to looking at him. "Eh..." The man blinked a few times before shaking his head. "Uh sorry, no. No you can't have Mistral." And back to the infant in his arms as he tried to pluck the now tightly clutched scarf away from the child. "And you can't have this. It will blind everyone in the house." A few light tugs proved that Mistral wasn't letting up, and the look on her face screamed of temper tantrum. Which sort of ended that argument. "Fine. You can have it, but nothing else like it."

"Awww, but she's really cute...Maybe I'll find another cute girl to buy..." Ashe whined as Ruth came over.
"Ashe, dear, what are you doing? What have I said about talking to strangers?" Her Mom asked.
"Don't worry Momma! These people are nice! That boy is Raja..." Ashe said, pointing to the man. She continued, "..And that's Mistral!"
Ruth looked over to the people that Ashe pointed to and gave them a warm smile. "Hello there. My name is Ruth, I'm Ashe's mother. It's a pleasure." She said as she held out her hand to the man.
But as soon as Ruth put out her hand, Ashe let out a loud shriek. "EEK! NO NO NO!!! There's NO way you're buying that scarf! It's HIDEOUS! It's blinding even! MY EYES BURN JUST LOOKING AT IT! PUT IT BACK LITTLE GIRL!" she said as she tried to pull the scarf from the little girl's hands.
"Ashe stop that!" Ruth said, trying to force Ashe off of the scarf, which Ruth thought was hideous as well. "Don't be rude!" she added.

Somehow he doubted that would be happening. People didn't just sell kids afterall. Then again... it was just best to not think about it. The world was a rather odd place afterall. Besides, it seemed that the previously missing parental figure was here. With the classic advice he would have brought up if he'd been in the situation.
Which of course was brushed off. Kids had a habit of that it seemed. A small smile and a nod were offered as he was introduced, while Mistral simply tugged her toy closer happily. She liked her prize afterall.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Ruth." The man might have said more while extending his own hand to shake the woman's had it not been for the loud interruption. Which was probably due in his opinion. Mistral had chosen one of the oddest things to claim as her own. Sadly, she wasn't about to give it up.
She might have been a little kid, but Ashe wasn't too much older. The spirit clung to the scarf bitterly letting out a cry as the thing forcibly tried to take her flutterby away. It was her's. HER'S! That meant it would stay that way. Or as much was in her power anyway, which sadly wasn't much at her age. This was definitely a battle she was losing. Which meant she had to drag in the big guns. What had earlier been a cry of alarm certainly didn't match up with what came this time. More of a cry of bloody murder. She wouldn't have it. Not in the least.

"No, the pleasure is all mine." Ruth said with a smile, who too, was interrupted by the childrens' yells.
"Let GOOOO!" Ashe yelled as she still continued to pull. It wasn't that she wanted the scarf herself, but it would be social suicide to see ANYONE, any age or size, wearing it! No words could describe Ashe's thoughts at the moment torward the eye-burning scarf.
"Ashe! Please! Let go! Don't take that other girl's toys!" Ruth said, trying to calm Ashe down, but Ashe wiggled off her mom's grasp and continued to fight.
"Ma, you don't understand! That...THING...doesn't belong to live in this world! Only a clown would wear it, and trust me, clowns have no sense of style, at all." It seemed that Ashe was starting to grow more independant as she grew, seeing how her speech was starting to flow more regularly and how she was starting to rebel. "Mister, tell her to not buy this thing! Or not wear it, but I think it's safer not to buy it at all!" Ashe said, as she turned to Mr. Raja.

How best to silence the screech before it got worse and the entire shop showed up thinking some kid was being killed? That was the question going through the man's head as the first howl's errupted from the pale blue child in his arms. The answer came quickly, as much as he hated it, let her keep the scarf.
So with a slight frown he lightly plucked up a piece between the two children to keep the infant from knowing that Ashe had yet to give up the war over the monstrosity. "She really likes it, as much as I hate to admit, so I really think she should just have it. she's only a baby, she doesn't know the difference." Ah, rationalizing why you should give your child something you too want to rip to shreds. Another day of denial. "See, she's already happier."
And it was true. As soon as it had been more or less delcared the thing ws to be her's Mistral had hushed up. Secure in the fact that she'd gotten what she wanted. Fingers curled into the soft fabric as she eyed the blond thing below. Her enemy. She did still have an end of the scarf, but the part she had wasn't being tugged away anymore. No, the firm hand of her parental unit was taking the battering instead. A line of defense.
Not that she cared much beyond the fact that her pretty was her's. A happy little giggle was given before she tugging the thing closer to snuggle it and began trying to wave it in the air again. Occaisionally giving it a blow to simmulate movement. Back to her own world where things were going her way.

Ashe knew that the little girl just wouldn't give up, and Ashe's arms started to get weaker, so she let go.
"HMPH! Fine!" Ashe grunted as she crossed her arms, turning her head away from the girl, "Do what you want, but if you get made fun of, don't blame me for trying to stop you. HMPH!"
"Ashe! That isn't the way to behave around strangers!" Ruth said, scolding her child. "Apologize to them...NOW!" she yelled, losing her patience with the Ink Spirit.
"FINE." she said. "I'm...SORRY." she added, quickly turning back around, avoiding eye contact with the man.
Ashe stayed quiet for a few minutes, but she quickly went around shopping again.
Ruth turned to Raja and said, "Why don't you guys come join us in shopping for a while? I'll buy that scarf and something else for your little girl there. I want to make up for Ashe's screaming to your daughter."

Mistral wasn't the least bit phased at the yelling. Nor was she too worried about what society thought of her as the moment. Quite the opposite, society should conform to her standards. That was her doctrine. She knew best, and what was best at the moment was her scarf. So society should like her scarf toy. So what if girl had a fit, she wasn't the boss.
Crisis averted and both sides more or less appeased for the moment he sighed. Watching the brief exchange that was held between the mother and daughter before giving a mild smile at the apology. "It's fine." Afterall, children would be children. Which meant a few scuffles here and there. It wasn't as if anyone was hurt or anything was broken.
Though the mother's repsonse was a bit odd. "Oh, no need. It really wasn't too much trouble. Mistral has had her own temper tantrums, so it's nothing new. She likes having her way as much as your child it seems." He didn't see any cause for making up for anything. If Mistral hadn't had such bad taste there wouldn't have been any issue. It was just the girls odd hobbies in action. "Please don't worry about paying for anything." He wouldn't mind shopping with someone, but he'd have felt guilty to have anyone buy anything for them.

"No no, I insist. So please, let me pay for that scarf. Like I said, it's the least I can do." Ruth said with a uneasy smile. She didn't like it when people rejected her genorosity and she felt really bad about her daughter's actions.
"so just let me know when you're all done and I'll pay for it." She said as she went to follow Ashe. "Let's meet up back here in a few minutes, or whenever you're done."

Persistent wasn't she? "You really don't owe me anything, don't worry about it." He wasn't about to let someone do something for him. He hadn't minded really, certainly there was bound to be come outburst durring the day. Better to deal with it sooner rather than later. "Mistral just has a bit of a temper to match Ashe's, it wasn't a problem."
He sighed slightly as she left, eyeing the child in his arms that was once more nuzzling and toying with the scarf. "You just had to pick something wierd didn't you?" Shifting the child to his other arm to give the first a rest he started off towards where the children's clothes were kept. Eyeing the stands for something that wouldn't be uncomfortable due to her few oddities. Sundressed would work with some leggings. A dress on an active child could be troublesome so now to find something that would look cute.
Or not. Mistral was certainly distracted with the scarf, but not enough to cause her to fail noticing a few items she had to have. Anytime she was close enough to something that was equal in colour to her new toy was snatched until it was practically tugged off the rack. If there was one thing Mistral was good at, it was olding onto things. A few dresses, some that were allowed because they were sundresses. Even if they did make him wonder who designed this stuff. Still, after a bit he had managed a few not so hideously rainbow dresses and a few that Mistral had chosen.
Excellent... or at least close enough to that.
A few more minutes and he'd found some leggings to go with and ended up with one hat that had been snatched off a model in passing. Lastly some shoes. It didn't take long to find a loose brown pair with soft fabric that would hopefully go with everything. So done... enough.
Mistral was certainly placated with her two findings. One, a hat that was likely too big for her. Still it was white and blotched with rainbow colours. Certainly not nearly as bad as the scarf, but a bit odd. She still had her precious toy as well, waving it a bit, but not so much. She didn't want to lose her precariously perched hat afterall.
Shopping more or less done, he made his way back to the place, still determined not to let the woman pay for anything of his. It would be rude to not show up though.

Ashe walked slowly down the aisles, making sure she didn't miss anything that would be super cute on her. But whenever she did see something, she quickly snatched it and threw it into the pile in Ruth's arms.
"Oof!" exclaimed her mother. "You're getting way too much Ashe!"
"Nu-uh!" Ashe said as she quickly glanced at the large pile, "Er...well I'm almost done!!"
The truth is, that she wasn't near done. She was only halfway through the store. But as time passed, Ruth pulled Ashe away from the clothing and returned to where she said meet back. "Maaaa!! I wasn't doneee!!" Ashe whined as she crossed her arms. "We're coming back here tomorrow! No matter what!"
"We'll see." said Ruth, looking at her watch while scanning the store in search of Raja and his little girl.
