Personality: Xla'Lanan isn't what you call the typical Katilenuk. He's hardly a fighter, fumbles about with his words. The only resource he seems to have is pure dumb luck. However, he has an outrageous prejudice, as most of the herd does, and he's not afraid to stick his slightly snobby nose out there and put people in their place. He's well muscled, obviously a runner, and beautiful by Katilenuk standards, but horribly ill placed in persona. If all else fails, he's often tempted to run to royalty to take care of the ails he's created.

Out of Context Information

Xla'Lanan originally came into my head as a royal guard. Someone who would protect the heiress at all costs, with unmatched skill in battle. The lineart I drew for him certainly reflects this notion, as he appears to be an gile beauty. Yet, I realized a man like this was hirribly stereotyped and of the many males, far too few had a nature that wasn't fool hardy and proud. I reached a dilema. Cla had to be a horrible racist and a prudent arse, but he couldn't become something quiet and defensive. His status as a royal guard quickly turned into advisor. The rolls, too, seemed to reflect his very nature, giving him speed and stamina, but little of the agility, power and strength of a war-horse. He became somewhat of a pretty boy, no doubt the royal family would send him on errands so as to show him off. At first I pondered making him a horrible cowards, but with a roll of 15 for courage, it was clear he would only leave when the situation was far too ill to stay. As an advisor he also explanded somehwat to play the roll of storyteller I had given to Kali. He is very atimate about the legends and is always speaking of them. Yet he couldn't replace Storm's daughter, so Xla'Lanan turned into a bit of a stutterer who can't quite fit his words together. What remained was a history, which not only put together his life, but that of the Katilenuk as well.

History

Xla'lanan was born in a time of turmoil. Savit was said to be infertile and would never bear an heiress to the kingdom. His parents were opportunists and they knew a struggle for the throne would likely commence. While Xla'Lanan's father was an extremist, wishing for a daughter in the coming years, Xla'lanan's mother insister on holding true to her only child and son. She gave him a anme which meant, 'lone warrior', in their native tongue. Indeed, the child showed promise. He was extremely brave, yet had enough intellect to keep himself out of the trouble the younger stallions were always in.

But things, as they often are, were subject to change - and change they did. An uproar echoed across Katilenuk as the queen took up a stallion whose bloodlines were less than satisfactory. Soon after, their son was born and it was clear Xla'lana had no chance. His mother continued to press him, making him dig deep for anything to set his place. At the age of two, when the young king to be was just beginning his youth, Xla'lanan entered the soldier-force, much to the delight of his father. Unfortunately, though he may have been fast on the ground, he lacked nearly everything required of stallions and even most mares.

They shipped him off to the queen, where she watched over him, uncertain of whether to let a faulure out into the ranks of the people. He remained a nothlit until the birth of the heiress, a stroke of luck that gained him placement in the royal family. The brother, now almost two years himself, was doing anything and everything he did, telling him to call them 'visions given by the newborn heiress'. Xla'Lanan obliged, but instead of turmoil, things began to set into better order. It improved favor with the young filly to take the throne and Xla'lanan was dragged away by the queen to give his advice. Thus Xla'lanan became a member of the royal house and gained the rather intimate distaste of the prince.
