Lio was out by himself again, something he seemed to do quite often. He was becoming more and more independant, though he still loved sharing thoughts, memories and peaceful nights with his family.
Wandering through the tall grasses, his eyes barely peeking over them, he began to laugh. The grass was tickling him through his still thin coat of fur, and he hopped through giggling with joy. He finally pulled himself free of the grass as he hopped up onto a rock.
With a happy sigh he bathed in the sun for a few moments, closing his eyes and feeling at peace.

Mzuza had yet to figure out why she was always out on her own. It wasn't quite as though she didn't enjoy the company of her family. She did. But it was something beyond company. It was... She couldn't quite find the right words for it. And in any case, she was out wandering through the grasses again, all on her own. The sun beat down on her copper fur, warm and happy, while a gentle breeze stroked her face and carried all her worries away. She shut her eyes and turned her face toward the sun, feeling the light wash over her. She loved the sun.
Then her eyes opened. Laughing. Another cub, perhaps? She had gotten quite good at recognizing the sound of another cub. She looked around her, as if trying to pinpoint where the laugh had come from.

Lio opened his eyes as the sun warmed him up, and he took in his surroundings. With a deep breath he smiled up at the sky, watching the clouds float slowly past him. "Hmmm, let's see.." He said to himself, still unaware of the other cub not far from him. "That one looks like a mouse! And that one... looks like a zebra!" He giggled, his orange eyes picking out more shapes.

She inched forward slowly, trying to make sure there was no danger. And there... A cub not much older than herself, with a... blue coat? She blinked and swiped a paw across her eyes before looking at him again. Yes, there it was. Blue coat. She had never seen a lion with blue fur before, and it made her curious. She padded forward. "Hello?" She called out tentatively, her eyes never leaving the blue of his fur.

Lio jumped and made a small sqeual of surprise as he heard this random voice from below. He almost fell off the rock, but his claws grabbed the stone and he pulled himself forward and steadied himself again.
He shook off and looked over the edge of the rock, then smiled brightly at the cub below. "Hello!" He called back, his bright eyes watching her with a smile. "I'm Kialio! Who're you?"

The little princess couldn't help but giggle at his reaction. "I'm Mzuza," She said with a nod. Kialio. Kialio. She stared at him intensely for a moment while she committed the name to her memory. When he looked at her, she saw that his eyes were almost the same shade as hers. Almost - his were more orange. She grinned at him. Ah, what a peculiar coat! "What are you doing up there?" She asked after a moment's thought. "It doesn't look like an awfully safe place to be." She added, thinking back moments before when he had almost fallen off the rock.

Lio giggled down at her, then leapt off a lot more gracefully than he had been before. He landed with a thud on the grass and shrugged. "It's safe when others don't scare me off!" He said teasingly, laughing. "I was watching the clouds." He said with a smile. "It's fun! You can see really cool shapes in them sometimes." He nodded happily.

"It's also safe when you pay attention," Mzuza said with a giggle. She looked up at the sky at the clouds. Shapes? She had never thought about them that way before. Clouds... they had always been big fluffy things floating in the sky that brought rain when they got too heavy. She had never looked at them from a cub's mindset before, and now that Kialio had mentioned it, she could see some shapes in them. "Hey look at that one!" She said with a grin, looking up at one that was shaped like a bush.

Lio smiled, giggling at her comment. He looked up to where she pointed, and he grinned happily. "It looks like... a rock! Or a bush!" He laughed happily, his big eyes wathcing the clouds for a sign of another. "Look at that one!" He said, motioning to one shaped like a giraffe. "It's a giraffe!"

"Oh, yea, the neck!" It always took the copper cub a second to see stuff like that. She simply had not been equipped with a cub's humor. She often found herself puzzled by her siblings' antics, but she would understand an adult's joke perfectly. It wasn't quite as if she had wanted to be born more mature. She wasn't a boring lion - far from it. But she had to work to be a cub. It didn't come naturally for her.
"I think that one looks like you!" She burst out with a giggle as she indicated to a shapeless goofy-looking cloud in the sky.

Kialio laughed and grinned at her. "Oh yeah? Well THAT one looks like you!" He said, pointing to a very large and shapeless cloud floating past. He laughed hysterically, falling onto his back and giggling.

Mzuza tilted her head, staring at it thoughtfully. "Nah, that couldn't possibly be me," She said matter-of-factly. "It's a little too blue for me. Hey, that reminds me of somebody? Now who could it be..." She trailed off, humming as she pretended to think. "Oh wait! It's you!" She exclaimed, bursting into a fit of laughter. Oh, the joys of laughing without a care in the world. She didn't often get a chance for something like it.

Lio giggled uncontrollably, grinning at her. "I am quite blue!" He said with a huge smile. He was quite proud of his coat color, he thought it made him unique. At first he was afraid that others would think he was different and avoid him, but so far others had admired his color, and he was glad of it.
After his giggling fit sibsided, he smiled over at his new friend. The clouds above began to grow larger, and Lio looked over to see the skies darkening. "Uh-oh. Looks like it's gonna rain." He said with a frown. They were having such fun!

"Blue like whoa," She agreed with a nod. Her gaze followed his to the sky, where heavy clouds indicative of rain rumbled toward them. He was right, it did look like rain. She felt her cheerful mood fading faster than a sunset. She hate rain, although she knew just how much the land depended on it. She sighed. "You're right..." She scrunched up her nose, as if she was considering drawing up some magic to stop the rain. But she didn't think she was up to it - who would be? She let her muzzle fall back from her frown. It was such a shame!

Lio nodded and sighed as well. "Oh well... I suppose the land needs it." He said, shrugging a bit. He gave her an optimistic smile, "We can still play until it comes! It looks a bit far off yet still." He said with a nod. He grinned mischeviously at her, then pounced at her with a giggle.
