Rylenn sat in the chair and played with his bottle of water. He was hungry, but he didn't quite know what to eat. He was debating getting a few simple groceries and going back and cooking in his room, but then that would be a hassle and he would have to clean dishes. He oculd do that if he hooked someone into eating his cooking then he could guilt them into cleaning up..
Maybe.
He looked down at himself and wondered if he scared people off with the way he looked. A black tight tank top, loose fitting jeans that fell just a little below his waist to make his torso look impossibly long. Too bad he didn't believe in underwear, or they'd show. For some reason, no one saw more than the curve of his butt, he claimed it was his own little miracle. He just liked having clothing around his hips. Call him weird. He fingered one tattoo then the other before running a hand through his hair. He fingered his necklaces then and sighed. "Might as well get some food." He went to one of the cafes and got himself two sandwiches and a soda. He'd declined chips or anything like that claiming he had to keep his girlish figure.
That got a laugh.
Now where to sit....

"Swill," RuiZhi said out loud to no one in particular, his demeanor somewhat more foul than normal. The Chinese boy looked at his very un-Chinese mall food, sighing. The stall he wanted hadn't been open, so he decided to try this 'sushi' he'd heard so much of. It hadn't smelled too bad, but it looked like...well, he'd rather not think of that. He was going to eat the stuff after all. Try to, anyway.
The boy lifted his unamused gaze, which almost immediately settled on another boy. It was hard to miss him, dressed in full black with a shot of red hair. His face looked familiar, though, and RuiZhi wondered if he'd seen him at the introduction ceremony at the school. He'd come here to take a breather from the school atmosphere, but he found he craved it more than this huge, scary place. The girls at the booth had been nice enough, but RuiZhi wasn't terribly interested in such high skirts and flirty winks; back home, they'd be sent to work on the ricefields for such behavior. That thought cracked smile out of the young man, who decided that the tall, dark and handsome student was preferrable over the crooning, frightening females.
RuiZhi was not exactly what one would call brave, so it took a lot of nerve for him to walk next to the other boy - who stood quite a few inches over him - and ask in polite English, "Not much to choose from, is there?" He lifed his small tray of sushi, his crinkled nose smoothing into a sheepish smile.

Rylenn looked down at the boy, almost shocked that someone had decided to talk to him. "Mmm.. and the company apparently isn't much better..." He tilted his head towards the females giggling. "Shall we sit by the fountain? I've found they hate it there.. they get wet if they sit to close to the fountain whether it is in their imagination or I flick some at them." He grinned broadly.
"I'm Rylenn McGreggors..." He shifted his tray and offered his hand to the other.

The tall boy's offhanded comment startled a laugh out of RuiZhi. He lifted his free hand to cover his mouth quickly, not wanting the girls to hear, almost successfully dumping his food in the process. With another sheepish smile and a quick glance over his shoulder, RuiZhi extended his sleeved hand to the one known as Rylenn McGreggors. He was careful to keep his food firmly clutched in the other hand, his water bottle tucked under his arm. "I am RuiZhi Tai. It is a pleasure to meet you..." He hesitated a moment, remembering how the teachers had found his titles and introductions somewhat awkward. It took every fiber in his being to squeeze out the other's name in such a formal greeting, "Rylenn."
Swallowing hard as if to keep from choking, the boy nodded, turning his embarrassed gaze to the fountain. "That sounds favorable," he agreed.

Rylenn laughed and eyed RuiZhi. "You wanted to say something?" He took his hand back and fiddled with the collar around his neck. His finger went into the loophole before he realized it and and instant flash of memory. He shook his head and went tense before taking his hand off the collar. He smiled thinly as he turned and went to the seats right next to the fountain. He rubbed the seat dry and flopped down. "Ugh... I think they're following us.." He eyed the girls get up in what they thought was an incognito move.

"Ah-ah, I, uh, th-that is..." RuiZhi stammered a bit, even more embarrassed that he'd been caught in his hesitation. "W-well, see," he started, following Rylenn, "I was raised to use formal titles and n-not use a first name unless invited to." He watched Rylenn rub down the seat, flipping his sleeve up to do the same, continuing, "A lot of the teachers found it uncomfortable, and it's still hard for me to greet someone so...commonly."
The boy barely had enough time to compliment himself on how far his English had come before Rylenn mentioned that the girls were following them. This nearly made the poor boy panic. He looked at the girls, then to his companion. He briefly wondered what his brother would do in this situation, although that didn't seem like much help, seeing what a female-magnet Wei was. Not wanting to be divided by the strange girls, RuiZhi sat right next to Rylenn, putting his water bottle and food on the other side of him. There, no room to sit for anyone else!

Rylenn laughed and put his arm around RuiZhi and leaned close. "Sorry if this is a bit uncomfortable for you.. this way... they won't come close.. they'll just stare and drool from a distance....." He looked as if he was whispering to a lover.
The girl squealed and now found perfect hiding spots to peer at the "lovers".
Rylenn grinned sheepishly and kept his arm around RuiZhi and smiled. "Call me what you want to call me, RuiZhi.. what do you want me to call you? I'd like to call you Rui..."

RuiZhi thought he was embarrassed before, but he was fairly sure the color of red that swarmed his cheeks had never been seen before. "O-okay..." he whispered meekly, not really hearing much over the rush of the blood in his ears. He wasn't used to the idea that two boys together was an attractive thing, although he'd understood that 'pretty boys' like his brother got the same type of attention. RuiZhi simply sat where he was, not pulling away and trying not to lean into Rylenn. If his sister could see him now...
RuiZhi carefully turned to look at Rylenn, putting his face a little closer to the other's than he meant to. The situation was strange to the boy, and yet the first thing to go through his mind was that he was glad he brushed his teeth. "Rui?" he repeated, finding his voice again. "I don't mind...that's a nickname, right? I've n-never had one."

Rylenn laughed softly as he slid back some. "Are you all right? You're turning awfully red." He pointed out as he took a bite of his sandwich, but his arm never left from around Rui. "You can call me Ry or Rylenn or whatever you wish to call me, Rui. We're friends now." He grinned. "We can come with each other to this mall for protection from the girls. Well.. at least keep them at a semi-comfortable, but still stalker-ish distance." He looked back at them and waved with a bright smile.
He could of SWORN one of them swooned.

He watched Rylenn's antics, smiling despite the situation. "Mm, y-yes, I'm fine. It's not every day I sit with a ... a friend's arm around me." RuiZhi started to grin, not sure if it was because he'd made a friend or because he'd made a joke. Perhaps it was a little of both.
Feeling far more daring, he used his utensils to pick up a piece of sushi and pop it in his mouth. Although he didn't show any emotion outwardly other than thoughtful chewing, he murmured, "This is awful." He picked up his bottled water and took a swig, still mindful of Rylenn's arm around him. "That'd be great, Rylenn," he said after he took a healthy gulp or two of water, "safety in numbers, or something like that." He'd have to get used to calling him Rylenn. Calling him Ry...no, he couldn't even think of that.
"S-so," he said, placing his hands on the edge of the fountain to brace himself against the other's partial embrace, waiting a moment before he forced himself to eat another piece of sushi, "how's your lunch?" RuiZhi grinned again. This wasn't so bad!

Rylenn laughed and leaned his head against Rui's. A smile spread across his face. "You're really far too adorable for your own good, RuiZhi. I think I'm going to have to protect you." He grabbed another bite and considered it before answering the question.
"The bread is too old, the meat is just about to spoil in two days and the cheese is a bit hard. I can cook better than this."

RuiZhi gaped at Rylenn when he was practically kissing distance away, feeling his face start to flush again. Why was he blushing so much? It reminded him of being around Mr. Herei. In fact, Rylenn did remind him a bit of the enigmatic teacher. His comment, however, made him think of his brother again; it was something Wei seemed to say to him a lot. The protecting part, at least. He grunted a little, his eyes looking down and away shyly. "Eerm, th-thank you?" He grinned again, feeling a little nervous, and...giddy?
Anyone watching could see Rylenn move in, with RuiZhi gaping, blushing, and giving a shy grin. It could appear as though the taller one had just propositioned the Chinese boy.
Rylenn's next words didn't give RuiZhi time to think about it. His eyes widened with surprise and appreciation. "You can tell that just by tasting it?" he asked in awe. "Anyone who can do that can surely cook feasts!" It seemed that everyone he'd met at the school was remarkable. It left him feeling very, very plain.

Rylenn grinned. "It's one of the only things I'm good at.. or at least that's what my father used to tell me.." He pulled back and touched the other's nose. "And it's not that hard to tell.. the bread is hard as is the cheese and the meat is getting slick."
He looked at the girls who had.. for some reason, had edged closer. He grumbled, irritatedly. "Won't they leave? What do I have to do?" He stood set on the edge of the fountain.
"There, Beloved. So you don't get wet." He said a little loud for the girls to hear. "But I'm so lonely without you. Come here and let me hold you?"
This didn't seem to deter the girls.. they wanted to make sure their little boy wasn't being taken advantage of. They stalked in slowly like buzzards coming for a dying rabbit.

RuiZhi was almost positive this was the most awkward situation he'd ever be in. At least, he was dearly hoping so, as school hadn't even started and he was already being roughly thrust into a world he was very unfamiliar with. Right now, that was Rylenn's arms.
He'd been fine with the nose-touching, as that had almost been an endearment. He'd even been okay with being called adorable. He never thought he'd be seeking solace in the arms of a man to escape a throng of women. It was truly a mad world they lived in.
RuiZhi swallowed hard, knowing he'd have to think and act fast. He stood, making a motion of brushing off his robes as he eyes darted between the advancing women and the young man in front of him who was - as far as he could tell - sincerely trying to help. He had to choose, and fast: the arms of a man, or the claws of women who were like sharks to the wounded fish.
It was shocking, but it was a no-brainer. "O-oh, a-ah, I've missed you...darling," he said loudly, due both to his nervousness and for the girls to hear. He had to fight very hard for control so he didn't start laughing at the strangeness of the whole thing. In a fluid, almost natural gesture, RuiZhi extended his hands and put them on the taller boy's chest. There was only a fraction of hesitation before he closed the space between himself and Rylenn, pressed against the line of the other's body. He squeezed his eyes shut, mostly to fight off the encroaching flush of shock, horror and thrill that was threatening to creep into his face yet again.

Rylenn squeaked. Oh s**t.. oh s**t.. OH s**t!! He pushed RuiZhi back onto a chair as he fell into the fountain. He wriggled and sputtered as he peered up at the safe and dry RuiZhi. He just.. stared for a long moment before bursting into laughter. He slowly picked himself up and looked at himself. "Wow. I'm a sopping MESS. Did you get wet, Rui??" He looked at his hair and grumbled, muttering about it not behaving. He slicked it back as he stepped out of the fountain and sat back down beside the other as if nothing had happened. "Can I get a kiss?" He grinned broadly.
Yep.. not phased a bit by probably THE most embaressing thing ever.
