Rules: 1) PM me to join, if you post asking to join, I will not allow you. 2) Don't escape, although you can try. 3) Okay, this really isn't a rule but---you don't have to play a teen. You can be a scientist.
Setting: Large building. Operation room and scientists lounge. There is also a bio-dome for all of the teens to live and cells for ones who want to be alone or have just been worked on.
Gaia Name: Killer_Croc Name/Nickname: Mark/Mister Ed Age: 18 Gender: Male DNA: Horse-Clydesdale Attitude: Calm and slow to anger. Likes to work hard and pulls the food cart for the scientists. Out going and afraid of virtually nothing, he loves to make friends; especially with the carnivores. Looks: Form the waist down, he is full horse. Tail is black; fur is a light chestnut color. (Legs are like the back legs of a horse) From the waist up, he is regular human except for his larger than normal muscles and his horse ears. His hair is also black, and coarse like a mane. Other: Has been at the research center for 5 years. Cannot remember his home, or any of his past life. Is not a big hit with the ladies due to the fact that he usually tries turn things into a joke. It is hard for him to be serious.

Gaia Name: [River] Name: Rajean Age: 19 Gender: Femme DNA: White Tiger Attitude: Cynical and moody, Rajean isn't a favorite for most scientists, although a lot of that has to do with her sharp wit and willingness to use it. Her emotions don't show much, a safeguard she has put up during her twelve years at the lab. However, when she gets angry, look out. When that one comes around, you'll definitely know. Looks: Standing an even six feet tall, Rajean is a formidable sight. Her hair, snow white in color, is cropped just below her chin, choppy from the careless cuts. Rajean is infact blind, and usually her cloudy, blue eyes are covered with a white cloth, tied around her head. She is very pale, since she hasn't seen the sun since childhood, although part of that is also contributed by her DNA contributor. Her pale skin is covered in shiny black stripes of skin, like a tiger's, that spread across her back, legs, and even on her face like a tatoo. She wears a black, synthetic leather halter top that crops just above her navel, and baggy pants made of a similar meterial. She walks barefoot. Other: Rajean was captured and brought to the lab when she was just seven years old, so she doesn't remember much about her life, only that she was a street rat. Her parents had been killed in an auto accident a few months before she was caught. Since then, she has come toe to toe with many scientists, this experimentation only being the most recent, the rest can be found in her files and in the detox kits the scientists used to rid her of past DNA. Her outlook on life is bleak.

Mark was standing between two rows of cages, hooked up to a large and heavy cart that was carrying at least half a ton of food for the teens in the cages. He had been working since before sun-up and there was sweat forming on his forehead and neck. He looked around at some of the test subjects and found some to be sleeping and some to just be giving up on life. He wasn't so tired, he would be singing something no doubt, but right now he was fairly short of breath. Mark looked in one cage and saw what seemed to him to be a female, and it looked like she had black tattoos on her body. He wondered why her eyes were covered, but did not ask her nor the scientist. He didn't want to pry.

Rajean's senses tuned in to a horselike experiment pulling a cart. Such noises were easy to identify. She stirred, stretching her legs with a yawn that revealed long, sharp teeth. Horse experiment, most definitely. That's the only explanation for footsteps like that. Probably bringing food.
She sniffed the air, resituating herself to sit against the back of the cage. Yup. Food.
The experiment sighed gently, pushing her pale white hair away from her face. The poor experiment had probably been working since the crack of dawn, judging by the scent of sweat he carried. Her stomach growled.
"Did you come to give me food or for the whitecoat to taunt me again?" she asked quietly, her voice without emotion.

"Food," Mark said answering the female's question. He looked over his shoulder and watched a scrawny, little scientist trying to carry the food for a lion experiment. He looked back at the female and added, "This one shouldn't taunt you, of course none of them should.

Rajean gave a soft chuckle before speaking again. "Gee, guess those whitecoats are slipping, then."
Her pale fingers tapped gently upon the cold cement floor of her cell, long nails making quiet clicks with every fall of the finger. She popped her neck again, looking over her shoulder into the far off cell of another experiment, as if she could actually see the scrawny male inside. "That one won't last much longer. Shame. He's pretty young, too."
With in indifferent yawn, she turned again to the stone floor, silent as the grave once again as her fingers stopped tapping.
"....."
"May I ask your name?"

"Some call me Mark, others call me Mister Ed," he replied, shaking his head as drops of sweat slid down his nose. It was quiet warm in the room at the moment. "But, you can call me whatever the hell you want to." He sighed and looked at the ground. He pulled slightly against the straps, but the cart didn't budge. he was getting a bit impatient, just standing there, but the scientist was new. "What is your name?" he finally asked the other experiment.

Rajean made a soft 'Hm'-ing noise, reclining a bit further and folding her arms across her chest. "Mark, then. My name is Rajean."
She sighed, running a finger across the cement flooring. "And just so you know, I'm blind.....that's why I wear the cloth across my eyes. I don't like people seeing them," she looked at Mark. "The scientists see an impaired experiment and think they're weak."
With that last comment, she chuckled again, flexing her right hand to show off an impressive set of nails, pointed like claws. "Well, I showed them."
She 'Hm'-ed again, crossing her legs. "If you ever get the chance, look up my files. You can read some interesting stories there."
Then, the experiment fell silent. Her stomach growled, as she had yet to get some food. Probably that b***h scientist of hers, starving her for more experimentation. Rajean supressed a growl.

"Nice," Mark said smiling. "I prefer to give them a good kick to the stomach."
The young scientist made his way over to Rajean's cage with an armful of meat. He tossed the steaks between the bars and Mark turned his head. more likely then not, it had once been some poor animal*. Or experiment.
(*I'm not with PeTA and I love meat. I don't think that way when it comes to animals and I hunt. Just a little FYI. I don't want people thinking that I'm a PeTA person.)

Rajean's senses tingled at the scent of meat. She smiled evilly. "Or, of course, you could do this..."
As the mousy scientist pulled his arm away after tossing in the steaks, Rajean leaped forward at him, clawing at his hand with a snarl. He turned stark white and nearly flew back at the other end of the room. The experiment laughed, standing straight and walking over to the food in her cell. Her nose wrinkled with disdain as she sat next to it.
"Ugh....there are always so many chemicals in lab food."
But still, not wanting to starve, she took one in her hands and tore a piece off the edge, swallowing it quickly. "What I wouldn't give to get out of this cage....then I'd just ransack the scientist's lounge like I used to. They always keep the good food in there."
She growled, tearing off another piece, but she immediately spat it out. "Pills again..." she muttered, extending a finger and flicking a white capsule from the meat. "Better be careful."
Rajean wondered why that...what was his name....oh, Mark, right....was sticking around. Usually the carters would leave once she started eating. Her table manners weren't exactly pretty to witness...

"If you get fed on a schedule like mine, you would be glad to get food at all," Mark said as he tried not to laugh at the scientist. "I get fed once a day, but that is only because I would trow it all back up other wise."
He watched the scientist scurry down the hall towards the lounge, possibly off to get a band-aid.
"Figures," Mark mumbled. "Leave me here with a bunch of carnivores. Thanks a lot pal." He then looked back over at Rajean.
"You know, I might be able to get you out," he said quietly so no other experiment would hear.

Rajean fell silent, her face not even turned towards his to acknowledge him. Her voice was quiet, hints of scorn lacing the tone. "I gave up on 'getting out' exactly one year ago. When Ryu died, hope did as well. Don't waste your breath."
She stood in her cell, walking to the corner and sitting down, her back turned to his. Ryu....
One year ago.....That was the last of thirty seven escape attempts. She had almost succeeded, with the help of her only friend Ryu, a mechanical winged fox experiment. But Ryu's scientist had caught up. Ryu died three days later. Rajean became blind the first.
A bitter tear stained the blindfold she wore. She would not speak for a while now, much less eat.

"Courage, it would seem, is nothing less than the power to overcome danger, misfortune, fear, injustice, while continuing to affirm inwardly that life with all its sorrows is good; that everything is meaningful even if in a sense beyond our understanding; and that there is always tomorrow," Mark said, as he stared at the ground.

Rajean laughed, though almost silently now. She spoke sharply with a hollow instensity. "Courage counts for nothing here, trust me. And I stopped counting days as well, you know. For all I care, tomorrow has not, and will not ever come...."
She wrapped her pale, black striped arms around her legs, leaning her head against them as the same thing she had wished for for some time now came into her mind again. 'Death would be so great now,' she thought. 'No more nosy experiments, no more scientists, no more pain....'
She choked on the last word of her thought. Pain. That had pretty much been her entire life. It didn't matter what some stupid horse said.
She swallowed as if someone had shoved a rock down her throat, and spoke very softly. "Now, seeing as your job is done, perhaps you might leave. I'm not much company, you've probably found."

"Yeah, I would, but that scientist forgot to take of the brakes, and I don't feel like unhitching myself and doing it," Mark said yawning.
Suddenly, his anger spiked and Mark could feel a rant coming. "I don't mean to be rude, but do you think you're the only one here who is going through some hard times? We all have had our ups and downs, but we deal with it. We don't sit, drowning in self-pity. We find ways to get stronger from the pain and use it to go on each day."
