Story
As a new player in the online video game "The world," "Haseo" is befriended, and then betrayed by two players. These players, it turns out, are known as "Player Killers" (PKers) or people who enjoy killing other players. Haseo is saved just before getting killed, and Haseo dedicates himself to becoming the most feared "Player Killer Killer" (PKK) in "The world". As haseo grows in strength, his reputation begins to precedes him Haseo is nicknamed "The terror of death." As Haseo continues his quest to vanquish the servers, his friend "Shino" is attacked by a mysterious player name "Tri-edge", so named for his 3-sided blades. After the attack in the game, Shino falls into a coma in reality. Thus, Haseo begins a dangerous journey to find Tri-edge, avenge Shino, and find out why other bugs in the game are starting to affect people in reality. This is not the first time bugs have cropped up in the world, though.

Haseo "Terror of Death"

Haseo is the main character of .Hack//G.U. He is known as "The terror of death" and is a famous PKK. He's friends with Shino who now is in a coma due to a PK known as "Tri-edge." He fight against "tri-edge" in hopes to bring back the "Lost ones" (People in a coma from Tri-edge)
Shino
-Harvest Cleric
Little is known about her at this stage, Only that she is a close friend of Haseo and was once a member of the guild called the "twilight brigade." She is now in a coma due to being PK'd by Tri-Edge.
Atoli "The mirage of Deceit"
-Harvest Cleric
She's a nice player, enjoying "the world' as her first ever MMORPG. She's very attached to her guild "Moon tree" and thinks about it all the time. She's also very attached to Sakaki, and is very loyal to him.
Ovan "The Rebirth"
-Steam Gunner
A mysterious player with a seperate agenda. He was the leader of the "twilight brigade" before it disbanded. He knows Shino and has a deep interest in Haseo getting stronger.
Kuhn "The Propogation"
-Steam Gunner
Kuhn is a good friend of Pi and is a member of Canard. He belongs to "Raven" (the guild) And used to have an avatar before he lost to Haseo in the Battle arena. He has a bad tenacity to flirt with girls.
Pi "The Avenger"
-Tribal Grappler
Pi is strictly devoted to Yata, she is a good friend of Kuhn and has her own avatar. However, Her avatar was data drained by Haseo when she was infected with an "AIDA." She's also a member of "Raven" and tries her best to help Haseo out.
Sakubo "The Machinator"
-Shadow Warlock
This character has two parts, A pair of twins play the same charcter and things can get a little confusing. Bo is the kind but shy younger brother who looks up to Haseo, Saku is the older sister who has a dangerous obsession with Endrance, who she calls "Master En."
Yata "The Prophet"
-Macabre Dancer
Not much is known about this character at this time, But we know he is involved in "Project G.U." a guild that is disguised as "raven."
Endrance "The Temptress"
-Blade Brandier
Supposed to be the former emperor of the "Demon Palace Arena" His character is shrouded in mystery, and he cares a lot for his cat "Mia."
Gaspard
-Shadow warlock
Gaspard is a happy-go-lucky player who loves to play the card game "Crimson VS." He is also an active member of Canard and loves to be around Haseo.
Silibus
-Blade Brandier
This character is a loyal and good friend of Gaspard, he likes to help out new players and is a member of "Canard" (Haseo's Guild)
Alkaid
-Twinblade
She is also a former Demon Palace Emperor, she was beaten by Endrance before, then when she tried to regain her glory, she was beaten by Haseo.
Sakaki
-Edge Punisher
Leader of the Second Division of Moon Tree, Sakaki is famous throughout The World and commonly associated with Moon Tree. He appears to be part of a sinister plot and because of this, tension has grown between him and Zelkova. Actually trying to create an ideal world by dominating the minds of people through the eight phases and internet. Sakaki is a role model of Atoli as she cannot seem to stop to talk about him.
Bordeaux

Bordeaux is an established PK and usually parties with Negimaru and Grein. She is also a member of Kestrel and well respected in the PK community. She is obsessed with gaining fame by being the PK that PKed the Terror of Death.
Negimaru
-Twin Blade
Negimaru is an established PK and usually parties with Bordeaux and Grein. He is also a member of Kestrel and is treated as some sort of crime-lord. He was PKKed by Haseo on their first encounter.
Grein
-Edge Punisher
Grein is an established PK and usually parties with Bordeaux and Negimaru. He is also a member of Kestrel and generally acts as Bordeaux's bodyguard. He was PKKed by Haseo on their first encounter.
Zelkova
-Flick Reaper
Zelkova is the Guildmaster of Moon Tree and the leader of the First Division. He has a great rivalry with Sakaki, being the creator of Moon Tree and yet not being as famous as Sakaki.
Gabi
-Edge Punisher
Gabi is the Guildmaster of Kestrel and adopts a laissez-faire attitude to running his Guild. Although his Guild is overrun with PKs, he is not a PK himself. An old friend of Ovan's.
Piros the 3rd
-Lord Partizan
Piros the 3rd is the same Piros from the original .hack games. He is the Guildmaster of the coincidentally named Project GU (Graphics Umai meaning "Good at Graphics") He also chases after Tri-edge but for his own reasons.
Kaede
- Blade Brandier
A member of Moon Tree and the leader of the Third Platoon. Kaede is one of the many supporters of Zelkova in his conflict with Sakaki and is known for her kind and sincere attitude.
Matsu
-Adept Rogue
A member of Moon Tree and the Leader of the Seventh Platoon. Matsu was once a famous PK but has since grown ashamed of his past and chosen not to fight. He is a supporter of Sakaki.
Antares
-Blade Brandier
The creator and former Guildmaster of Icolo; a Guild for champions. Antares lost his position as Emperor of the Sage Palace when he was defeated by Taihaku and feels Icolo has grown arrogant.
Taihaku
-Steam Gunner
Taihaku is the current Guildmaster of Icolo and, therefore, one of the most powerful characters in The World. Being the Guildmaster of Icolo makes him the Emperor of the Sage Palace; above both Endrance and Sirius.
IYOTEN
-Blade Brandier
The leader of a pair of PKs that targeted Haseo when he first logged into The World. Ovan first met Haseo after PKing the two.
Asta
-Edge Punisher
Iyoten's partner in a pair of PKs that targeted Haseo when he first logged into The World. Ovan first met Haseo after PKing the two.
