Behind the main manner, a small worn down trail of grass leads off into the forest.
Curious, you follow the small worn down path, unsure of where it will take you, but nevertheless, intrigued. Through the forest you tread. A secret garden?
Yes, but a small one at that. The trail continues. So do you.
Pushing aside the brush you continue, deeper and deeper into the heart of the forest. After what seems like hours you notice a building in the distance. The trees turn from a lush green to an ill looking black. Their leaves fall, shriveled and wilted. Your boots leave the soft earth soil and echo hollowly across the cobble stone. Crows flock about you, eyeing your every movement. A small chill runs down your spine. Before you stands the building; it's tall gates seem only to scream death and pain.
Yet still, you continue forth. Why? Perhaps it is your curiousity. Perhaps it is just a feeling of boredom. Whatever it might be, it is the last of your thoughts now. Before you the dark gateway opens, almost begging you to come in. At the end of the corridor you can see a faint light. Through the small opening of the roof, light shines down illuminating an alter, and before it a figure kneeling.
The light reveals nothing yet in the same moment everything. This is not a chapel. It is not a church. It is a sanctuary. A place where your mind can elevate the pains. Your heart, can forget. Yes, this was a sanctuary. Her sanctuary. Where life, even if for the most brief moment, stopped. Where everything stood still.
Will you enter her sanctuary? Pray to whatever it is you may believe in for forgiveness? Hide from your past? Or run from your future?
The decision is yours alone to make.

Emily, probably themost curious person anyone couldknow, had come across this sanctuary. She looked to the kneeling figure, She sighed. Her eyes scanned the place, she knelt down, she lit a few candles, and knelt, her hands in her lap and her eyes closed. If only it were that simple...for her to forget. She did ntot feel enlightened, she simply felt somewhat refreshed by the candlesmoke. She ddnt want to forget her past, or her present. The bad things in her life, could only make her stronger..but..she wantedt o forget her hatred..she wanted to forget..well, some things she wanted to forget, would be too much to even put in a post. She looked down to where her heart was torn. Yet there it was. Returned. It was cold, and slightly dirty from the trashcan it was once in. Nothing she could do, it would always return to hurt her.
She gazed up at the window. And remebered the last time she tried to forget..and made things worse.

When Emily had first entered, the small space had been void of anything life-like except for the small kneeling figure. However it didn't move. Didn't breath. An empty shell.
Atop the alter, Death sat, one leg crossed over the other, her head resting upon her open palm. Looking down at Lush she smiled, "Welcome." Her lips curved wide into an evil smirk, "Pleasure you could join us."

Emily looked up at death, and made a sigh, folding her arms. "Now how is this a sanctuary with YOU around?" She asked, rather impolitley, tapping her foot.

"Ah on the contrary. (spelling) This place is a Sanctuary because I am here." Leaning back casually, Death rested her weight on her arms, a small smile hung across her lips, yet her voice was simple. Almost sincere? "I know you all adore seeing my wonderful smile, and enjoy listening to my taunts. Heh, otherwise you all wouldn't be here. Speaking with me." With a small thrust forward, Death propelled herself up, standing with arms folded across her chest. "Now Miss Lush, this is a sacred place, there is no need to hold a grudge here." Glancing over her shoulder and to the small alter, then to the figure on the ground Death shrugged, "It is a place... of release."

"Ill tell you something then.,, 'Death', Or whatever, This may be a place of rlease, but trust me, even this dump cant help me. Hell, even that shell of yours tried to help, pulling out my heart as i asked her. Ad its back now, just covered in dirt. So if i tried to release, or escape, this would just get worse, so ill stay in this already worse situation, hoping the next morning, i would be like her, not waking up, or go through it, to have that hope again the next time i go to sleep.
Place of release..heh..im in the house of death, literally."

"Dump?" Death glanced about the darkness, and shook her head, "This isn't a dump. This is a home. A sanctuary. A place to where that shell," She motioned to the figure, "Prays. Though she doesn't believe in God or something holy, she prays. For those all around her. That her insanity and instability won't hurt them. That no matter what she has to lose she can still make them smile. Perhaps this is a house of death. A house where broken souls wander to. Where the heartless try to redeem the pains that they have caused, or whatever it is they might wish to do. But one thing remains certain. This is a place where even the hopeless can find hope. Where a soul can be traded for a smile, or for a little more time. Where life, holds no power..."

"Silly girl." Emily sighed. "Like what pain exactly? I simply find it slightly saddening when she thinks she is causing pain, when she thinks she is upsetting people. Its sad, really, But she is praying for nothing, in..well..a very cold house." She sighed, folding her arms from the cold comming through the door.
"If she wants to stop causing pain, maybe she should try and stop being a 'shell' and a 'broken soul' and all these silly little depressive things, and ACTUALLY try and smile with her friends, instead of bringing them down with something along the lines of being in a down mood for thinking she hurt them, which only brings them down.
If shes up, everyone around her is up, which in turn will bring her mood up eventually. Its how things work, even i know that."
She looked about the place, and grinned to herself. "Shame he isnt here.." Then back at death. "If this is such a sanctuaray for the non religous, why is it such a depressing scene? Darkness, shells, even death herself? I wouldent call this enlightening, to be honest."

"She has nothing left to lose, so praying does no harm. And for your information this 'cold house' is a very comforting place to her." Pacing over to one of the small pues (spelling) she took a seat, gazing about the darkness. "When you pretend to smile, day after day. Week after week. Month after month, it does get a little tiresome don't you think? She has spent the past three years being up, or at least pretending to be. I think it's time you cut her a little bit of slack. That is... if you are a true friend." Leaning back against the seat Death shrugged, "Does it need to be a cheery place? Filled with laughter and light? The best place to think is when you're engulfed in darkness, for the light is blinding. Misleading. Heh, perhaps for you, a place of enlightening is a place where people pretend to smile. Pretend to live. But for us, a place of true bliss is the place where the darkness can hide the tear stains. A place in which the cold stone can comfort our burning desires and our fallen form."

"Laughter and light, now where have i heard that before?" She looked over to the form, and sighed. "Well it didnt look like she was smiling the last fewyears to me, she hasnt been..'happy' in quite a long time, as far as i saw, maybe she acted different around everyone else, but not to me, i always saw her as acying even a little bit sad. How can i be suppourtive of somnoe who is a..'shell' what could i do? I cant smile and giggle and tell her jokes or chere her up, shes just lying there. I already prey for her, what else do you want?"
Emily slumped down in one of the seats, and put her feet up on the stand for the hymn books

"Nothing." Death said plainly. "For this is something no one can help her with." Rising to her feet Death dusted off her palms lightly, before adjusting her hat, using the dull marble surface of the alter somewhat like a mirror. "Now, you must sit back, and wait."

"Then go." The figure who had been kneeling the whole time, slowly rose to her feet; Death no where in sight. "If I have kept you from something, feel free to leave. Heh, this place wasn't ment to be a prison, it was ment to be a release."

Emily looked over to the woman, her face expressionless. "Man, what a terrible place. I may not like it, and it may do jack for me, but investigating would be a start."
